Congenital curvature confirmed
« on: May 19, 2020, 10:34:06 AM »

So yesterday I saw Dr. Raheem at UCLH and he was able to confirm that my curvature was, in fact, congenital and not Peyronies. Initially, I was pleased, but then came the disappointment. I now only have 2 options - watchful waiting or the Nesbit procedure.

My curvature is around 35-40 degrees so sex is fine, but difficult in certain positions, so now I have this dilemma as to whether I undergo the knife or try to live with it.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had to make this decision and whether they were glad to have had the op and whether they had any regret.

Many thanks

Jim

Do you have any plaque? I ask because it says so in your sig.

And watchful waiting for what? Are you experiencing other symptoms?

There is actually no "watchful waiting" as congenital curves do not worsen unless one also gets Peyronies.  If the curve is useable--I'd avoid surgery as there can be several side effects besides the shortening.  For example, development of Erectile Dysfunction and loss of sensitivity.  If sex is fine, I'd say enjoy your healthy penis and don't risk it.

Sorry, I haven't updated my sig. He confirmed that there was no Peyronies plaque, but believes it is 'chordee' which is why there is a band/nodule.

He actually offered to administer Xiaflex if I wanted it but said that he believes it would be a waste of money and he would need to get it approved by ethics...

Stretching towards the opposite direction with a fulcrum at the deepest point of the bend(placed at the opposite side) will change the curve over a long time.
Daily 3+ hours with an extender, smartly done. Possibly months. Obviously if done wrong you risk injury and real peyronies. Most people don't have the stamina and patience to do that though.

The danger with the knife route is that if it heals badly then you have worse less flexible tissue than before.

Thanks guys. I really do appreciate everyone’s input. I’m really leaning towards doing it, mainly because it’s always in the back of mind. I keep trying to forget about it, but any reference to a curve or sex puts it to the front of my mind. It’s torture! Sometimes I won’t sleep till 3am because I’m constantly weighing up whether to do it.  I’m very fortunate that my Penis size is just over 8 inches, so as long as I don’t lose more than half an inch I’d be happy to have a straight penis. I’m just concerned about any complications even though I’ve been assured that it’s fairly straight forward for congenital.

Oh what a time to be alive...

I’m just worried that I’m going to waste the prime years of my life trying to persuade myself to leave it as it is before caving in to the torture in the years to come. If I’m going to do it, the sooner the better
