Hi,

I have Peyronies Disease and also have been diagnosed with low testosterone.  I am 47 years old.  My urologist suggests that I get on TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy).  He mentioned that it probably won't help my Peyronies Disease but will help with my energy levels, mood, libido, etc.  Is there anyone on this forum that has low T and also Peyronies Disease?  Have you taken TRT and has it had any impact on your Peyronies Disease?

I’m on TRT, didn’t seem to improve Peyronies symptoms, but may be a protective factor re exacerbation.  Meanwhile, lots of health benefits to be had...even cardio protective.

I'm on self perscribed TRT. 140mg test cypionate a week. I had levels ranging from 100 to 300ng/dl at 25, but no doctor was willing to help me. I'm in my thirth week so not much to report yet, but I will post my results soon. I havebeen on it before and it didn't help my peyronies, but the energy and strenght difference is significant.

TRT / taking testosterone in general will be really beneficial if you're levels are low / low to average-low. What exactly are your levels?

When you're androgen level is in a good range due to TRT, you will experience more NTE as well as erections during the day which is crucial and beneficial for penile health.

More important than testosterone in that sense of penile health is DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in my opinion, because you have DHT receptors in your penis responsible for initiating erections.

So you should always monitor not only your total/free testosterone but also your DHT levels. Some of yourtestosterone automatically converts into DHT by the enzyme 5-Alpha-Reductase.

But yeah, give it a shot.

FYI: I don't know why but gel tends to convert more to dht than shots. Overall shots are superior though as the gel often times doesn't get absorbed well and I personally think it's a hassle, but it's up to the individual. I hope your doctor is willing to give you all options. One thing that is an absolute NO that many doctors still do is inject once a month for example. It doesn't work and will give you ups and downs. Testosterone Undecanoate (Nebido) can work this way though as the half life is longer (stays longer in the blood), but even then I would go for two shots a week subcutanously with an insulin needle. Easy, cheap and pain free. I hope your doctor is willing to do it that way. MANY doctors still use an outdated protocol of like 400mg test cyp once a month which will not be beneficial for most guys as you'll end up with low levels in the last weeks and high in the first.

My protocol is 75mg cypionate injected twice a week subcutaneously. But everybody is different and you need to do bloodwork to know if this is too little or too much for you. I can PM you the source I got it from, but it's dutch and I'm not sure they ship outside of Holland.

My levels are in the mid 200's.  I still haven't started TRT yet since I am still weighing the pros and cons.  I am looking to hear from real people who are on TRT that can give me their personal experience with using it.  Has it improved your life?  What have benefits have you experienced?  What negatives have you experienced?  Thanks for the support.

TRT has tons of benefit: energy, libido, heart health, etc.  w such low levels not sure why you wouldn’t try it to see if you benefit.

I am afraid of the mental side effects. I have heard it "increases energy," but to me that usually translates to "anxiety" whenever I hear "energy." Like caffeine to me is poison. Is the energy sleeplessness and restlessness? Or is it positive mood? I'm curious how it feels because my numbers are fairly low but not low enough for a doctor to recommend it. But they would do it if I asked.

I believe my testosterone "crash" in my late 20s led to my Peyronies Disease. It's hard to say how much TRT has actually helped in regard to Peyronies Disease. I've had it for about 10 years now, with little curvature, if any.

If I were doing trt I’d certainly start with HCG and clomid.

Working from the bottom up, as in this will stilumate your own testosterone production. Rather than injecting T straight into the system, it will almost always have a cascade and turn down all the precursors down the line, thus it will come back to bite you.

Start with HCG first with clomid as the first step. It will help! Gives you bigger balls as well

My urologist Dr. Mohit Khera in Houston at Baylor said that more often than not low testosterone is a precursor to the onset of Peyronie's.  I was doubtful because my testosterone levels had always been high to average, but he tested me as part of the diagnosis of the disease and my level had dropped to less than half of where they were before I noticed my curve.  So I think unless you develop peyronie's through trauma it could be something that triggers it.

              I've been on TRT replacement for 16 years. I have been on every kind of therapy availabe and with each one there
are drawbacks . Can you live with a low T level? Yes, but it could cause lots of health related problems. Find a good doctor that specializes in hormone replacement for men. Do not go to an endocrinologist or a urologist = unless that is one of their specialties.
I can say that when my blood levels of T are low my Peyronies Disease is more sore. I am still in the acute stage - 6 months. Testosterone replacement is for life , but it can save your life also.
