I wish I discovered this forum 6 years ago who I got diagnosed with the condition.
It took a toll on my young mind, I was 18. I plunged into alcoholism and severe mental issues.
Nonetheless last year I took the chance and had a successful surgery.
I feel like I was alone in the journey. Did not confide in any family or friends yet I have a whole social life.
My Uni GPA is so low.
My penis has healed but my mind hasn't.
I still struggle with bouts of depression.
I'm thinking of cutting of my friendships n family and just accepting a solitude life. Also my career prospects are now basic.
Help.

Healing your mind takes a long time, I've been there. You cannot force it, you need to do positive activities, things that make you feel better. Some realistic goals without thinking too much of the far future helps too. Sometimes stepping away from family and friends helps to find what you are looking for. Cutting them off completely you might regret later. We are social beings after all. Family and friends can help you also with reflecting on your life and your next steps as long as they are supportive and not too judgemental or negative. Try to creating habits that make you feel good, like exercising, hobbies. Be nice to people, they'll be nice back to you.

In terms of career, sounds like you are 24, there are many things you can do, try, fail, try again. Traditional education and career paths are not for everybody. I have switched my profession a few times now. From my experience, many people just work to make money, they are not necessarily good at what they do. If you can find a good environment that allows you to grow, focus on your job and learning new skills, you can become much better in a short time than most people doing the same job for a much longer time. Some jobs / activities are challenging or boring, but usually even those help you grow. As long as you feel like there is something to learn, you're good. Don't get fooled by traditional concepts like GPA and 1 profession for the rest of your life. Try things and you will find out what works for you. Do not get discouraged if you are not accepted for jobs, try different ways, contacts help a lot. Bluff a bit with your skills, if its a job you really want to do, you can do it. Most jobs are not rocket science, common sense can take you far.

Hello Gathee,

I wish you had found us as well.  The good news is that you found us now, you had a successful surgery. and it sounds like you have a support base that stands by you.   I would probably not cut them off now that you are on a climb back.
I would consider a good counselor if you can afford one.  I would suggest you check around for someone that is proficient in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

As an alternative try some basic Mindful Meditation.  It is simply training to clear your mind and spending some downtime in the present without worries and concerns about the past or future.  It is amazing what 10 - 20 minutes a day can do for you mentally and physically.  You can find free guided meditation on Youtube, learn a lot from TedTalks and before long do it unassisted anytime during the day.  There are of course apps you can buy for smart devices if you want.

Keep us posted.  We are with you!

Hi.
It's one year later. It's been 2 years since the surgery. My penis function is normal but my mental isn't. I was diagnosed bipolar2 then schizoaffective then depression. The depression meds helped.
I'm doing talk therapy. I opened up to my parents.
I'm thinking I also do hypnotherapy to remove the anger, resentment and unforgivenes in my heart.
But I'll always feel guilty. I'll always feel like I caused it by compressing my dick when I was younger.

Hi Gathee, So, it's curious for me to ask you a few main questions, 1) Did your ex-peyronie caused your biopolar? 2) What type of successful surgery you had? 3) Who was your peyronie surgeon, is he a famous doctor, could you share with us his name? Thanks in advance. Sincerely.

Peyronies Disease cannot cause bipolar.  I understand bipolar well.  It is not a phycological disorder.  It is a physiological based mental illness.
