Hello,

I have an appointment next month to meet a Peyronies specialist in SC. I am going to set up an appointment to get a Doppler Ultrasound study done and I have some questions for you guys who have had them.

I am honestly terrified that by getting an injection to create an erection that it could cause me to get peyronies scarring at the injection site. It sounds like that's the only way to get an erection as they won't let you use viagra etc.

Two questions:

Do you guys think I'm overthinking the injection? I want to have the best and most thorough scan I can so that I can leave there with peace of mind. Have you heard of people getting peyronies because of these injections piercing the tunica? Especially if your already succeptable? I don't know that I have Peyronies for sure, but I'd sure hate to create it.

Second question; can I get a Doppler ultrasound while flaccid? Is this uncommon? It would make me feel better not to risk piercing my tunica with a needle but I want to make sure that I leave feeling like I got the best analysis possible.

Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

Thank you brothers. 🙏

You're overthinking it a little but you are correct to be cautious. Depending on whether or not I had erectile dysfunction I would opt for the injection to detect any venous leakage but I would have them do it with something other than bimix. That being said, the chances of you developing scarring like that from one injection are pretty low. And I would have them inject into a place on the shaft that if you did get plaque, wouldn't much affect things cosmetically (I had them inject in the base on my right side-the thinking being I had some rotation the opposite way so if anything happened there it might counter it). Compress the injection site for a few minutes after.

An erection is not needed for diagnosis of peyronie's however. They can detect plaque with an ultrasound just fine on a flaccid penis. And they will palpate for it as well.

I would only get it if you are concerned with erectile function and want to have them measure inflow/outflow for venous leakage.

If you are really freaked out about priapism you could always bring some sudafed with you just in case. That will kill your boner pronto. When I got an alprostadil injection I had an erection for almost 2 hours until I started lightly jogging in place and trying to get as angry as I could. Adrenaline kills erections.
