Plication with Brian Christine
« on: February 20, 2020, 08:41:35 PM »

Just back in my hotel room after my Plication surgery with Dr Brian Christine in Alabama... along with some extra tunica grafting to fill in mild hourglassing.  I flew down from Boston.

Pain feels manageable...

BUT!

The level of relief I feel to be on the other side of this surgery is not even measurable.
I return north tomorrow afternoon.

It's great to hear you completed the surgery.  Funny thing, i just completing wishing you well in the related thread in which you shared information about this pending surgery.  Low and behold, you did it!  Let's hope as strongly as possible: No infection, no severe pain, perfect healing, and great future performance.

Update:
90 degree downturn with some hourglassing
Two days post op
Used pain med first first day... didn’t need anything more then Advil second day.  No real pain at all third day.
Flew home day after surgery by myself, super easy (though did upgrade to ease boarding)
Dressing came off off today... he used a circumferencial cut v vertical cut (he bases that on each case) and degloved the penis.  Plication (similar time sixteen dot)... not Nesbit... some graft to fill in hourglassing.
Not much else to report.  I can only say this.  If you are a candidate for surgery and can get to one who does this a lot... get it done.  When I woke up from the surgery all I can say was that I was very very grateful at the idea that I wouldnt have to think about this every damn day.

Will update as it heals and I get full erections... not feeling at all simulated in my current condition.

Jan.schaller...
Dr Brian Christine learned his technique and grafting from Tom Lue.  I think they are the only two doing this.  I also believe Dr Lue no longer performs surgery himself.
Dr. Christine does 80-100 per year.

I haven’t consulted Dr. Lue on whether he himself is personally doing this procedure. Maybe yes, maybe no. Someone said he has a more supervisory role now in supervising his residents doing this. I know my Urologist at Kaiser told me two weeks he has done this procedure before and I assume still does.  He’s the Chief Urologist there, and I wouldn’t have to fly thousands of miles to have this done either way (I’m only an hour from San Francisco as it is).

I looked at Dr Brian Christine’s site and I’m sure he’s great, but he definitely not the only game in town. You surely don’t have to go to Birmingham, AL, to have a great surgeon do this surgery.

I hope the grafting helps with narrowing... so far I went to joel gelman, paulo egydio and more and more.... none of them believes in this kind of surgery in helping hourglass patients.

Only time will tell whether ur hourglass problem is fixed or not

I still don’t understand what people mean when it comes to hourglassing/narrowing. Can someone explain it to me please?

It’s an indent.
Think of the old hour glasses that sand ran thru. From top
To bottom. Narrowed as the sand ran thru.  Causes a structural deficiency in the penis.

Think of a tree with a narrowing midway up the trunk... it wants to bend and snap in the wind.
This condition often is in concert with the bend of Peyronies.

It’s odd. I had the hourglass deformity originally and it eventually went away on its own without treatment. So the condition can, but doesn’t always, improve.

That’s great Jan!  There is spontaneous remission in a small percentage of cases.

Narrowing is a weakness part of the penis. This weak tunica part has fibrosis/plaque which prevents blood flow to this specific part. When u have this condition, even with a straight penis, ur penis buckles which means upon thrusting, ur penis curves. So u see ur organ straight but upon pressure it curves cuz the damaged/narrowed part of tunica does not have blood to make the penis stable.

This forum is lucky cuz now for the first time, we have patients that are currently documenting their experience with ( extratunical grafting ). Which is minimal invasive grafting, however if u read the internet. There is just 1 study about this surgery with just 36 patients. So it is very interesting to know more about this surgery. If I smell success then I might go for it

My weak part is actually a bulge, not narrowing, where my graft was placed.  I actually seem to be improving my rigidity, not by the added Viagra or Alprostadil, but I guess just continuous healing.  I am almost a year post surgery, and it appears I am still healing
