Hello people, I had my total testosterone measured and it came back at about 277 ng/dl which is low. I've been wanting to go on TRT for years now and have even went the illegal route because no doctor would perscribe me. Now that it's low enough to treat I hope the doctors will finally perscribe me testosterone. I have been struggling with depression, anxiety, fatigue and low motivation for years now and I hope restoring my levels will give me a bit of a boost. I'm not sure it will also help with my erectyle problems (it didn't do much when I injected myself), but I assume it at least won't hurt to get them in tje optimal range as I'm only 25 and these levels are not good for someone as young as me. I'll let you guys know how it goes and what differences I'll notice when I finally get on TRT. I'd be shocked if the doctors will still refuse to perscribe testosterone at this point, but I guess we'll see.

My GP won't perscribe me TRT yet as I have an appointment with the urologist in 2 weeks. He thinks it's best to wait and see what he has to say about this. If I get declined treatment again I'm not sure what I will do.

I'm happy for you, mate. Saw your other post too. It's great that you're finally taking action.
I too suspect I have low levels of testosterone... how do you approach your doc saying you want a blood test? Feels like they always ask "Why do you think you have low testosterone?".
Because I believe so stupid, just do your job and give me the bloody test shii
Also, what do you think about the legally sold supplements that increase testosterone?
Is that something that's worth giving a shot? Some of them are pretty much legal steroids, in one sense.
30 degree dorsal curve, immobility and heavy loss of girth.
My body seems to get very inflamed when I masturbate too often or eat unhealthy.

I'm also trying to get my hands on testosterone supplements or something like that, to boost myself, just like you were saying.
Do you know if testosterone supplements (oral) work to increase testosterone levels?
Or are they just a scam?
Also, how much does testosterone help in training?
Last question, how hard is to to get TRT prescribed, and do you get the TRT shots at the doc or how does it work?
Thanks
- Desmond

First of all you should get your testosterone levels measured first as it may very well be that you have healthy levels. Testosterone boosting pills are mostly scam and may raise levels like 5 percent at most, but will never make a significant impact. Lifestyle changes can impact levels as well and probably better than those supplements, but even that won't help if you truly have hypogonadism (low testosterone).

TRT is difficult to get depending on where you live. I believe in the UK it's hard to get and so it is in most of europe. In the USA it is relatively easy to get your hands on TRT, but most of these clinics are making much money from guys that don't really need TRT. In most cases, if you do not need TRT I would advice against it as taking testosterone will always lower/shut down your own production of the hormone.

TRT stands for testosterone replacement theraphy and that's exactly what it does. As a result your testicles might shrink and you can become infertile. TRT is for life and unless you have truly low levels it's probably not worth it to take the risk. Even I have difficulty getting it perscribed, even though I have many symptoms. These symptoms include erectyle dysfunction, loss of morning wood, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, depression, loss of libido, anxiety, brain fog/forgetfullness, gaining bodyfat, loss of muscle, loss of strenght, loss of bone mass and many other symptoms that may or may not always be caused by the lack of testosterone. As you can see this list includes many symptoms that could be unrelated to your testosterone, so it's hard to diagnose yourself. Only if your levels are low and have these symptoms as well and these can't be caused by other problems, then TRT might be a good option.

As for anabolic steroids... testosterone is an anabolic steroid and is the most commonly used steroid. There are many other anabolic steroids like HGH (human growth hormone), but most of the commonly used steroids are "testosterone based" so to speak. But also, most steroids will shut down your own testosterone and leave you with lower levels once you get off them. As far as I know there are no doctors that perscribe anabolic steroids, at least not to be used in the way that athletes use them. TRT is the closest thing to "legal steroids", but it's a lower dose used to get your levels up to normal and like I said you do that low dose till the day you die or end up with even lower levels. I can't stress this enough.. TRT is for life and unless you have low levels, don't do it. Regarding muscle growth and strenght: the short answer is yes.

Testosterone will increase muscle size, however, if you already have normal testosterone levels you' have to take high doses to get any effect. A TRT dose will do nothing for someone with high-average levels naturally, because the goal is to get your levels to high-average, not higher. For me however, I did gain a lot of muscle and strenght when I did my own TRT protocol a couple of years ago. The reason is probably because I have truly low levels for a 20 something year old and getting them fixed made a day and night difference.

In short: get your blood drawn, if your levels are low go on TRT, if not don't do it. If you still wanna do testosterone for muscle gain, get it yourself and do a cycle, but be VERY carefull and read so much that you know almost as much as an endocrinologist. Even then it has risks and has the potential to damage a perfect balance of hormones in a healthy male, so I personally wouldn't do it.

Great advice, especially get tested and only prescribed if levels are off.  However, if one stops T supplementation, they can rebound and begin producing it again.  Key is to work with a legitimate provider-not one of the T Clinics.

If you don't get it prescribed, in germany you would've too be very sickly and beg for it, I don't see any immorality in getting it another way. Of course it has to be good quality.

The way to game our stupid EU medical system would then be to take testo and make regular tests at the doc without telling them about your use if they potentially react badly. Then you can gauge how much you can/should take. Depending on life situation, activity etc. this can vary through the year.(make notes about the circumstances before you take a test)

I agree Melting, germany is probably just like holland. The doctors here are not very happy about perscribing testosterone and there is still a chance that even with my levels I don't get it. I hope I will get it though, as I know at least some of my symptoms are caused by low testosterone. When I'm on I'm still depressed, but I have way more energy and actually get things done, while at the moment I have a hard time even getting out of bed or cleaning my house let alone get back to work. I will eventually have to get a job so i hope to get this fixed before that.

God is real, if you want them to check your levels you should be allowed to ask and they should help you. If they really wanna know why you should tell them you have symptoms. These symptoms are a bit random though, so they may also tell you these are non related to testosterone. The most common symptoms include fatigue, decreased libido, erectyle dysfunction, depression, anxiety, loss of concentration, increase in fat and loss of muscle and many others. Testosterone affects every cell in your body, but the symptoms are so common that you could still have them even when your testosterone is high. For example, my depression isn't totally gone when I have higher testosterone and my problems with erections don't magically disappear either, but it does help. The only way to really know if it's related to testosterone is to take a blood test, so it's worth a shot and in my opinion any good doctor would at least give you the possibility to get the blood test. If not, try it with someone else.

TonySa, you're right, there are ways to restart your endogenous production of testosterone after doing TRT, but the longer you're on the less likely it is your levels will return to baseline. The most common drugs used for this are hcg and clomiphene. It's the same drugs that bodybuilders use as post cycle theraphy.

I have a new update on the topic. Went to a urologist today for my low testosterone levels. Today my total testosterone came back extremely low at under 100 ng/dl!! I did have very little sleep before the test, drank alcohol and smoked weed the night before, but even then I wouldn't expect it to be THAT low. On the other hand I'm glad the doctor now realizes that there really is a problem and won't say "it's barely in range, you're fine" like they did in the past. The doctor was very concerned with my use of cannabis and while he does have a point he also admitted to me that it's not likely THE cause of my low levels. I have to take another blood test and this time he'll also measure my free testosterone, LH, FSH and prolactine. He wants to rule out the possibility that I have a tumor on the pituitary and wants to find out if it's primairy or secondary hypogonadism I think. He told me he wants to see me again at februari 28th. He wants to get my levels higher, but he doesn't want to do TRT as he doesn't want to make me infertile on such a young age. I wonder what he has in mind, but he did say he wants to use something to raise my endogenous testosterone production, so I'm assuming he'll try enclomiphene or HCG. Whatver gets me to feel normal again. At least I'm happy I finally found a doctor that recognises my problem and doesn't tell me it's "all in my head" or whatever. I also told him that I'm very sure I don't want children and even though I'm just 25 I know for sure I won't change my mind. If I ever do decide to have kids it would be nothing but an "instinctual" thing. Feeling the need to reproduce and wanting my own family, when if I really think this trough I would NEVER want to even risk passing on any of my mental and physical problems. Even if there is a chance my kid will turn out fine, why would I even wanna risk it? It would be unreasonable and even a bit egoistical to want my own children when I could adopt or just stay kids free. I hope my doc understands that I care more about feeling well right now than I do about some possible wish for offspring in the future. For me that is not a reason not to do TRT and I thought this trough a long time ago. For now all I can do is wait for my new appointment and after 28 februari I'll know more.
