Hello folks,

Had my Nesbitt procedure in May 2019.  Have completed all the follow up appointments now and the next appointment is 12 months away.  Surgeon seems quite happy.  I still have some scar tissue from the operation, but much less than a few months back.

Have joined to be educated on how long the scar tissue takes to go away, how long the numbness lasts associated with the car tissue.  Hopefully, erections will be normal at some stage down the track and don't need Viagra to stimulate.

Hi scuzzii,

Welcome to the forum. What is your history? Why did you get the surgery and how extensive was it?

Sounds like you have some sensitivity loss from the surgery?

I'm currently researching surgery and meeting doctors to fix congenital curvature.
36 years old; USA; Congenital penile curvature (leftward 30 degrees, downward 20 degrees); diagnosed by Tom Lue; Surgery completed with Joel Gelman in July 2021

Hi mate

I found a lump back in May 2018 and went to see a specialist about it, thinking it was the big C.  I then noticed a curve developing not long after that. So over the course of about 3 months the curves really developed which ultimately led to the discussion to have the Nesbitt procedure.  Between finding the lump, and having surgery it was about 11 months.  Specialist advised that the condition needed to get as bad as it was going to, as in - we waited for it to not get any worse, before surgery.  That combined with needing to make adjustments at work to have the required time off, meant it was 11 months.

There were 3 options, the Surgeon didn't think injections were as effective as the claims people were making.  So he advised on the surgery. Price wise, I think it would have been the same $$ regardless.  The 3rd option, which I hope isn't required, will be a pump inserted.

So I'm here to find out how others recovered after surgery and how long it took to be fully active without scar tissue and full sensitivity.

Background for me:

Age: 49
Cause:  unclear how I ended up with the condition.  I cant recall any rough sex

Currently, I've certainly noticed more ED than pre Operation.  Lost about 2cm, which I can notice.

Hey scuzzii,

Sorry to hear about ED after the procedure. It sounds like they diagnosed you with Peyronie's Disease, they waited until it stabilized and then did a Nesbitt.

Loss of length is expected for this type of problem since the surgeon (with Nesbitt) is essentially equalizing the longer part with the damaged shorter part, in an attempt to return to a straight angle.

Can you give more details on how you were curving/bending? (downward/sidewards/etc.)

yep, sure thing.

Bend was to the left and was about 35%-40% just prior to surgery.  Slightly upward.  It was getting difficult to have sex and it did cause ED prior to surgery. Would take some time to be able to penetrate. Thus would sometimes go soft and the moment was gone.

I took photos as it continued to get worse and would show the progression of the disease to the specialist here in Sydney.

Sensitivity can still return w time as the nerves continue to heal and reconnect.  Have you tried the silicone gel pads for scar healing?
PxD 2 yrs 9/16.  Failed all treatment. 9/11/18: excision, grafting & implant Dr Karpman MtnView Ca, AMS CX 18cm + 3-1cm RTEs.
Pump failed.  2/11/20 Dr Karpman installed Titan 22cm +1cm RTE.

Hi Tony

I haven't tried gel pads.  I have been using coconut oil (the solid one that melts) for the surface skin scars.  I was more asking about the under skins lumps.

I had my operation at a similar time to you, although I had incision and grafting, rather than the Nesbit, as my curve was over 90 degrees.

Although my operation has been anything but successful, being left with a 45 - 50 degree residual curve and loss of length of around 4cm, so your outcome so far seems really good.

My erections have gradually become stronger and numbness reduced, so hopefully your situation will continue to improve.  Lumps and bumps under the skin have also reduced over the months, this has specifically improved over the last 8 weeks, although my graft is still very hard.

Hope things continue to improve for you

The under skin lumps, probably sutures or scarring around them.  Are they perm sutures?

thanks guys

the scars under the skin are reducing (as in the lumps) so I am assuming they aren't permanent sutures.

it's just the unknown with all of this and that impacts our mindset big time.  After all, it is a big part of who we are.
