Age -49 year old male.

Age at onset - Have had Peyronies Disease for about 5 years.

First Symptoms - My curvature (upward angle about 35 to 45 degrees) appeared overnight. I was a year into a new relationship with my now wife when the curvature appeared. At that time my sex life was frequent, fun and the most fulfilling I had ever had in my life.

Here is the best guess my Doctor's and I could come up with to explain the sudden onset of this terrible calamity:  My wife were having sex with her on top and during intercourse and in our excitement, she  "came down" a little sideways or I "slipped out"  for a split second,  Either way, my penis was bent awkwardly for a quick second or two. I remember yelling "ouch", but as most couples have probably experienced, this kind of thing happens every now and then so we continued on of course!  It was about two days later I woke with an erection and discovered that my penis was now curved.  At first I thought it would go away. It didn't.  The doctor had no other explanation.

I went to see my family doctor who immediately referred me to a well respected urologist in town. My Urologist diagnosed me with Peyronies disease and put me on a regimin of vitamin E & L-Carnatine.  3 months later there was no improvement.  He proscribed Cialis and/or Viagra to increase the rigidity of my penis during erections and to suppossedly assist with getting additional blood flow. None of these things did anything to reduce or alleviate the curvature. Initially, I had a litlle pain during ejaculation but that has gone away over time as the symptoms stablized. This 3 month cycle repeated itself for two years. Eventually, the L-Carnatine was replaced with L-Arginine.  He then recommended that I buy a "Fast-Size" Traction device.  I did, but at first I thought I was seeing reduction in the curvature, but it was insignificant. The problem I had with the fast size was the length of time requires for wear.  It doesn't fit well under regular pants and you have to remove it every couple of hours and massage the penis. Not very convenient when you are at work etc. The only other option given to me was to wait 6 months more and then go straight to surgery in the form of the Nesbit procedure. Needless to say, invasive surgery was not only scary, but with the Nesbit procedure you lose more length than I had already experienced.  Not dealing with the plaque and just shortening the other side doesn't make logical sense anyway to me.  Quite frankly I don't know where to go from here.

Psychologically - On the emotional side, I feel like less than a man. My wife and I are still capable of having intercourse but positions are limited. Like  a lot of the other entries in this forum that I've read, I'm obviously scared that surgery will make me impotent, which I'm not currently. I'm scared my wife no longer wants sex with me because of this crappy disease. It's obvious the frequency of our intercourse has declined since the onset of my condition. I would like to have my penis and my sex life back. I want to no longer be ashamed of my physical deformity.  But from what I see, they can do all kinds of medical miracles, but removing plaque and healing a penis is still in the dark ages.

Vitamins and supplements haven't done anything. Is invasive surgery the only option left?  I read about a procedure with needles to break up the plaque they use in Europe. Why not here?
Why hasn't my doctor suggested any other treatment options?  VED's? Injectins?  Ultrasound?  Where do I find a specialist in this disease?

Where I am today -Too many questions and not enough answers. Meanwhile, the condition stays the same.

Any help or suggestions would be gratly appreciated!!!
