What are the visible signs of plaque buildup?

Quite a few people have spoken about how they can visibly see where the plaque buildup is.

What does that look like?
I feel blind because there's so little info out there.

I have two little brown spots on the side that's curving. I'm pretty sure they were there for a long time but now I'm second guessing everything.

I don't see how plaque can ever be visualized unless it's deformed the shape.  It cannot always be felt either, but usually visible w ultrasound by an experienced specialist.

The two spots are about a mm in size, I always assumed they were just miles or something. Again, this stuff's just be having me second guess everything.
