What is status of mesenchymal stem cell treatment?

I know Dr. (Zahalsky?) did a study like a hundred years ago and it pretty much cured them. Speaking specifically of mesenchymal cells.

I know stem cells are being, um, not used because people are insane.

Can someone explain to me why we are shooting babies in the head to harvest stem cells and injecting them into prisoners to see what they do? Kinda kidding, kinda not really kidding.

All drama aside, is anything happening at all and why not?

I'm also trying to research Stem Cell Treatments! Soooo much conflicting information!!
Websites like Regennex swearing that all Umbilical Cord stem cell treatments are FRAUD...........but also lots of "success" stories of people that have been treated with Umbilical Cord cells.
Other places say Adult Stem cells are too old to work, while still others say Adipose Stem cells are the best way to go.
I could go on and on and on......point being I cannot find consistent trustworthy information!!

I've been quoted by a Doc in my metro area for Umbilical Stem Cell Treatment. He is ADAMANT that he's using viable live stem cells. He's been on our local Channel 6 news station with success stories (knees, arthritis, etc.....NO Peyronie's of course). I appreciated his honesty when he said he had not treated Peyronies Disease. He also had taken the time to do some research prior to our consultation, and actually quoted the same two research articles that I had found myself. I believe that he believes it works lol, but I don't know if I can spend that kind of money on possible BS??

How's your research going? Anything to add?

Thank you, and good luck in your journey

I am actually going to speak with Zahalsky this week. I'm sure he will just try to sell me something.

My research concludes that it is all b.s. Sorry. Just read through all the threads here. Adipose, prp, etc. is all ineffective.

All the other real actual stem cell stuff is illegal as far as I know. I'm not a scientist or anything remotely close, so I may be talking out my ass here, but I haven't seen anything that is a cure, else this forum would no longer exist.

aren't there folks on this forum that claim some degree of success with stem cells, like @js1991 ?

Like I said, I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Maybe some people had some success. I'm just saying that if it were a "cure" then we wouldn't be here talking about it.

That's a logical fallacy right there, in plain sight...

He just talked a mile a minute like a used car salesman. He didn't really talk much about the science of what he did. He just kind of came off like a huckster. He uses amniotic fluid apparently. Maybe he helps some people. But injecting foreign material into your body doesn't sound like a good idea to me. But who knows.

Did you have the chance to ask him if he's planning on repeating his famous trial with a larger sample of patients and with a placebo-control group?

I remember I asked a member of his staff something like one year ago and he wasn't able to answer me. I'd like to know if they made or if they're trying to make any progress.

samsung

I didn't bother asking him because it was immediately apparent he was probably not an honest guy. Not too many honest world renowned medical practices in Florida. Or the Ukraine for that matter. Why isn't he in NY or CA? And I didn't want to risk offending him because I just wanted to see what he had to say. I'm (not 100% of course) pretty well certain his study was fabricated. Otherwise, why would it not have gone further? From what I understand Dr. Lue tried this years ago and the stem cells migrate away from the injury site within 24 hours and potentially cause cancer. They don't have a way of confining the cells to a site. At least that is how I understand it. But I am not a rocket scientist. I do not have a paper to back this up. Just hearsay from this conversation and another I had with a different urologist saying Dr. Lue tried this many years ago unsuccessfully. Maybe email Dr. Lue and ask about it.

I was under the same impression with regards to Zahalsky's work and if I remember correctly I already expressed my doubts on his clinical trial here in the past. I just hoped that I was being overly skeptical and he was actually planning on doing a follow-up trial. Apparently this is not to going to happen.

Anyhow, do you have Dr. Lue's e-mail address? I can't find it on the web and I'd really like to ask him for information on stem cells and peyronies (I didn't know he experimented with those).

samsung

I do not have his email, sorry. I'm sure someone here does though. And also, keep in mind this is just what I heard from a Dr. in Boston and from Zahalsky (that Lue did a study a long time ago). I have no way of verifying. But I don't see a reason they would make it up.
