Can anyone please let me know the typical details for the surgery.
I had been to the urologist a year back and asked me to come back after 6 months if the situation had not improved, I can have surgery.

I would like to know the following before I go to the urologist and talk about surgery :

What is the duration of the surgery.
How many days do I need to be in the hospital.
Do I need to use a catheter to urinate, the last time I had a catheter to urinate, the nurse said my urethra was very small and hence she cannot help me, I had a hell of time, the worse time of my life to piss.

Will I be able to urinate after the operation.

How long does it take before I can be back to normal - like commuting to work.

My insurance is an excellent one with 0$ deductible and out of pocket, so I am not worried about it.

Do I need to be on bed rest - for how long after the surgery.

Can I drive from the hospital to my home after the surgery.

I had Peyronies Disease for 2 years and now I can have intercourse but the penis is still bent at 30 degrees, I can feel the plaque, and I dont have any pain during intercourse or erections.

Thanks

So long as you are having usable erections you probably will have the surgery like Les. I am sure he will see your post and comment.

The one thing I will tell you is you want the best doctor possible. A Male Sexual Function Specialist, not a general practice urologist. General Practice Urologist simply do not have the skills need for this surgery or implants, especially for men like us that have peyronies.

Good Luck

Kmurali70:

I had a 16 dot plication procedure performed by Dr. Tom Lue to correct a 90 degree upturn.  The procedure lasted an hour and it was an out patient procedure.  Total time was 5 hours in the hospital and I walked out without difficulty.  There was some minor pain but controlled with meds the 1st day, but none required thereafter.

I took the next day off work but resumed running my company the following day with post operative instructions not to lift anything to heavy for a week.  Haven't had any issues since and lifting and moving like nothing happened.  It will be a couple of more weeks before I can resume erections and have been advised to expect some pain as I become erect.  According to Lue, this is a normal progress as the tissues become accustomed to the internal sutures to maintain a straight erection but will subside with time.   Check out Plication Surgery to further updates.

It's been 3 1/2 weeks and everything is healed very nicely and I will be seeing Dr. Lue to remove the remaining external sutures on Monday.

Hope this helps,

kmurali70,

I must have missed your post somehow. I had excisoin and grafting surgery. My experience was similar to the previous poster. Mine was also outpatient surgery. Was maybe at the hospital about 7 hours from time of admisison to time of release and on my way home. Was also told no heavy lifting and was back to work after a few days.
