Hello All.
Today is my third surgery for this condition:
1 Egydio Procedure 2 years ago
2 Stage procedure - in an attempt to correct residual curvature
3. Today's plication surgery (hopefully the last)
I am writing from my hospital bed. I had my surgery this morning at 8:15 am
They are keeping me here until tomorrow morning.
So far, no major pain. They wrapped my weenie in a clear dressing. It is still a little swollen, but not too bad.
Gelman has a guy doing a fellowship, named James. he is the one that came in and spoke with me this morning, and checked up on me this afternoon. He's a nice guy from Oklahoma. He said, after his fellowship with Gelman, is moving back to Oklahoma, to open up his practice.
He said that the surgery took 3 hours. I haven't seen Gelman today. I was knocked out before I went into the operating room. Tomorrow, I am supposed to meet with Gelman.
The staff here at UC Irvine, are very professional and nice. They just brought me some food, the food's not bad either.
So far, a positive experience, and hopefully the last.
My advice to those who are considering surgery:
Before considering any grafting surgery, please consider the risks. They make it sound attractive, like you will be saving your length vs. plication, but it didn't work out that way for me.
Plication, is by far, the most practical, safest solution to the problem of curvature. The recovery times is much shorter than grafting procedures.
Again, length is definitely a consideration, but I have not seen proof that grafting does what it claims to do, in terms of preserving length.
With plication, a skilled surgeon is going to place the sutures in the most effective way to straighten your penis, without sacrificing more length than is necessary to: shorten the longer side, to match the shorter side.
If you are okay with the length of the shorter-side, then you just might have found your solution. Sorry for the Hard Sell, but I want you guys to be able to benefit from my experience.
