Hi guys -- I just had my first injection of Xiaflex yesterday, I will have the 2nd injection in 3 days to complete the first cycle. I was given a topical cream to numb the area and the injection itself was not bad at all. I have a baseline of approx 40 degree upward curve (though I think it may be more like 45). I will be adding Restorex to this treatment once the bruising goes down.

I was wrapped after the injection and I did some icing last night. Swelling has not been too bad, but I'm sore today and do have purple bruising toward the base of my shaft (which is not where the injection was -- injection was midway).

My biggest concern right now is that I did NOT wake up with a painful erection -- in fact, I was only semi-hard when I woke up, and I'd taken 2.5mg of Cialis before bedtime. On the flier I was given, it says you should call if you have a sudden inability to maintain erection and I'm not sure if waking up only semi-hard would qualify... I know I'm probably overthinking it, but my anxiety is a little bit high right now. Do you guys think I should be alarmed and call the doctor? It just seems as if most people here woke up with sore morning wood, so it feels odd to have reacted differently.

Perceptible Curve

Cool you got your shot. I go next week for mine. As for your concern with the mild semi erection, maybe you woke up before your nocturnal erection was full. Just my thought though. As for the absence of pain the doctor my have got lucky and all of the Xiaflex was injected into the plaque and not into a vascular area . And again only my opinion. But otherwise keep us updated. I do like reading about everyone's experiences good or bad it helps me understand what I could look forward to.

I'm only speculating but it could just be mental that you didn't have a fully hard erection.  Fear of a fracture is real, and in my case I really didn't want erections after the shot.  Only got them like usual when waking up, but they went away quickly.

Thanks to you both for your insight -- I think it probably is mostly mental. I went to bed last night kind of fearing waking up in pain, so it was definitely on my mind. I don't always have rock hard erections in the mornings anyway -- like I said, my anxiety is kind of understandably high right now with this being the first shot of the first cycle. Thanks for helping to keep me grounded! I'll be following both of you for your progress and hoping for the best for everyone!

Just had shot 2 of cycle 1. Definitely more painful this time, and when I got home, I had a really stinging, knife-like shooting pain that I didn't experience after the first injection. Has anyone experienced that before? The doctor told me to begin stretching as soon as I'm able -- I'm hoping to start tomorrow, I just don't think I can do it tonight with this shooting/stinging pain that I'm feeling.

Wrap it back up for the night and put off the modeling for 2-3 days.
50 year old, onset in Feb. '18, diagnosed in Mar '18, 4 rounds of Xiaflex completed, little improvement, mentally overwhelmed...ED issues, major anxiety issues now.

lmn 25---Yes the shooting/stinging pain may be a hematoma but it should resolve itself within 1-2 weeks.  You may notice significant purple coloring and swelling, making you look like an eggplant.  I would avoid modeling until the swelling has gone down.  For what it is worth I had 4 rounds of Xiaflex (8 shots) and had the shooting/stinging pain 3 times.  I did go from a 40 degree curve to approx 10 degree so a success but the sshooting/stinging pain sucked big time.

IMN25,

You want to get the coflex wrapping from your doctor or from CVS or Walgreens. Wrap your package for 3 days and it will keep the swelling and pain down. I speak from 8 cycles of Xiaflex and 7 cycles of Verapimil. Wrapping is key to keeping things under control. I can't imagine being able to use traction within a couple of days after the second injection due to swelling. However, the longer you are wrapped, the less the swelling you will experience.
