My husband has had four of eight Verapamil injections. Nothing has changed so far other than we are both discouraged.
Anyone that has gone through this, is there any chance that he will be able to have normal erections without pain?

Verapamil injections are not a favorite of the forum members but several have had them and a few have seen dramatic improvement. Several have not.
Pain very seldom lasts for 2 years. Some men never have any significant pain. so it varies anywhere along that line. I had little more than an ache during sex or when I probed or pressed on the area of the plaque. Within 6 months that was pretty much gone. I and others have found acetyl L-carnatine (ALC) to be good for the pain. It is an over the counter supplement that is taken daily and has benefits beyond relieving Peyronies Disease pain. If needed, Ibuprofen can also be added during bouts of worse pain.
If your husband is committed to having sex and is willing to go after whatever solution is necessary then I think the chances of him having intercourse is almost 100%. The question is what will that require. That could range from nothing more than an understanding spouse and some experimentation. If he has a bend so severe that it is impossible to have sex or if he has total erectile dysfunction it could require several treatments upto and including surgery.
I just read the 2013 Review Article "Understanding the course of Peyronie's disease" in the International Journal of Clinical Practice that was posted by positiveoutlook. It states that
"In contrast to the above findings, intralesional injection with verapamil, IFN a-2b or CCH has shown efficacy in improving penile curvature, reduc- ing plaque size and density, and reducing penile pain (44,60,61)."
This appears to be counter to the general experience here (I am new to the list this weekend) as well as the advice in the Surviving Peyronies Guide for newbies to the list (which is very helpful) which places injections at the end of the spectrum with surgery. As I am readying myself for visit to specialist (Munarriz in Boston) who I have heard uses injection I wanted to check in. I will continue to read the review article and follow the citations to dig deeper. I think that it is a very helpful article and well worth the read and the section from which the above quote was taken comes across as hopeful (at least to me).
Just my private opinion:
All the injections help or not depends on the doctor capability to inject in the right place.
By the way, the injections in the "Surviving Peyronies Guide" come before surgery and not together as I am reading it.
The reason is that injections are more invasive than oral treatment and mechanical treatments but much less invasive than surgery.

Thanks James1947 that is actually quite helpful, logical of course, but not necessarily something that I would have thought of to discuss. As the surviving guide suggests, I'll be putting questions together ahead of time. Optimist
Guys I can tell you that it depends on the doctor injecting the right dosage and hitting the right spot. It worked for me - going in tomorrow for another shot in an area that wasn't addressed before. I had 6 shots I believe and improved around the third or so. Was bruised for about 20 days but all worth it. Good luck you all!

I've nearly completed my first 6 shots of Verapamil. Unfortunately my Peyronies Disease has worsened during this time, and I can't help but wonder if my doctor has been doing a good job with the injections. He always injects in the same spot, even though I have plaques in other areas. Question for you: Did your doctor inject all around your penis, or consistently one area?
I suppose you will not get answer from GusVG as he was last online at June 06, 2016.
After reading everything posted on the forum I am not surprised that Verapamil didn't helped you.
My advice, find a more updated urologist

I just had my 5th of 6 scheduled Verapamil injections. There has not been any improvement so far, and today I noticed what looks like a sac of fluid bulging out near the end of the shaft of my penis. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this or any negative effects from the injections. Honestly, I think I am looking for an excuse to skip the last injection as I find them really painful. I would have thought it might get easier after a few treatments but I have found the opposite. During the last two treatments the freezing has not worked completely and it was pretty excruciating.
