Title: Could Vitamin C make Peyronie's worse?
Post by: basebend on August 10, 2014, 07:16:09 PM
I have another condition in which it's beneficial to take vitamin c, but i'm worried it could make the peyronies worse.

It's known to produce collagen in the body, but isn't that what develops around the scar to make it inflexible and/or worse?

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or advice on the matter, as I'm currently unsure of whether or not to take it.

This has been discussed, and there should be comments on this question recently in various threads, you can try a forum search in the appropriate forum on the top right. The short answer is no, and there is science to support the idea that it may help Peyronie's as well. But I simply don't know!

NeoV:

I just started using Qunol recently. This morning I read the label and it states that it contains 150 I.U.s of vitamin E to my surprise. It also contains an enzyme.

So, this means that Vitamin E in that supplement is the same as the other E that everyone says does not help Peyronies Disease symptoms.

Just seems like an incongruous statement overall. Does anyone have any other info about the Qunol supplement?

Old Man,

The reason the product includes vitamin E is most likely due to the Parkinson's Disease study in 2003. It explains that CoQ10 increases the usefulness of Vitamin E. Interesting indeed.

Coenzyme Q Intake Elevates the Mitochondrial and Tissue Levels of Coenzyme Q and α-Tocopherol in Young Mice (http://jn.nutrition.org/content/133/10/3175.full)

Remember, Vitamin E actually WAS shown to reduce Peyronie's symptoms in the "Legend or Reality" study last year on Peyronie's.

Efficacy of vitamin E in the conservative treatment of Peyronie's disease: legend or reality? (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23258640)

It's important to remember that vitamin E has anti-atherosclerotic effects and is a blood thinner, given a potentially large crossover between atherosclerosis and Peyronie's, think the Iranian CoQ10 study that also showed that some 30% of it's Peyronies Disease participants had arterial problems of the penis, and
it was that 30% who had the best resolution after supplementation with CoQ10!

The only negative I can think of about Vitamin E is the prostate cancer risk increase, but I am not that knowledgeable of how that works.

You are right as always. Vitamin E along with the VED therapy was the method that got rid of my medium case of Peyronies Disease. So, afterwards, there was much discussion about Vitamin E doing nothing for Peyronies Disease symptoms.

The fact that is acts as a blood thinner, this alone does add to the efficacy of VED therapy for Peyronies Disease.

Cause the supplement actually has to reach the plague. If your penis is near dead with not much circulation going on then supps will circulate somewhere but not where we need them. Espacialy when the inflammation is already gone and the body is "OK" with the status quo.
A calcified plague in the more or less already not much blood circulated tunica wont be affected much by a circulating supplement.
And the combination of a bad health with a bad penis circulation(which is the worst circulated bodypart already anyway)  with a inflammation(trauma..) is a good chance to develope Peyronies Disease.

Just think about what would happen if you could put the plague into a outside solution full of plague dissolving supps.

Pumping will open up the cells and layers of the penis. Thats why I love to use a waterpump with hot water. It significantly softens the tissue and the plague and makes them ready for supps to attack the plagues core(through blood and transdermal),At least thats what I feel happens.

Vitamin C is NECESSARY! Without it you might develope faulty collagen(scar tissue = peyronies)

I would not get too excited over the fact that Vitamin E is a blood thinner.  The way Vitamin E thins the blood is by blocking Vitamin K1, and that is NOT a good thing.  Anyone supplementing with Vitamin E should be also supplementing with Vitamin K1.  Blocking Vitamin K1 only reduces clotting, it does not improve circulation like Pentox does.  But Vitamin E IS an anti-oxidant in its own right and that is probably where its benefit in treating Peyronie's lies.  But remember that Vitamin E in the common form of alpha-tocopherol only controls reactive oxygen species.  It actually creates more problems with reactive nitrogen species which is just as dangerous.  The solution is to include the gamma-tocopherol form which controls reactive nitrogen species balancing out the alpha-tocopherol component.
