The following is an excerpt from an article coauthored by Dr. Pastuszak entitled Increased risk of cancer among men with peyronie's disease :
"Men with Peyronies Disease have an increased risk of developing cancer, suggesting a possible common etiology between Peyronies Disease and cancer development, supporting recent genetic findings. As this is the first study to demonstrate a higher risk of cancer among men with Peyronies Disease, future research should focus on confirming these associations and elucidating pathways between Peyronies Disease and cancer. Moreover, additional follow-up of men with Peyronies Disease after diagnosis and treatment of Peyronies Disease may be warranted."
I suppose this is both good news and bad news: bad news for obvious reasons and good news because Peyronies Disease might soon fall under the purview of cancer-related research, which I assume would mean more funding, brilliant minds and public discussion.

If the increase does not mirror the increase in cancer seen in diabetics I'll eat my hat.
Cancer is a largely a metabolic disease, just like Peyronie's, due to the Warburg effect, and I think it's likely real regardless of if you're overweight, "diabetic" or not! But wow, interesting..
I mean, anyone who spikes their blood sugar or has slightly elevated blood sugar is at increased risk for cancer, peyronie's, heart disease, and any organ damage. My dad and grandfather have hypoglycemia like I do, and neuropathy, which I cured with the keto diet. I know my dad has Peyronie's but I have not heard about my grandfather, and I assume he wouldn't have told my dad if he had had it (either way, he lived till 90!)
The good news is that this might get us the attention WE DESERVE, uggg...
And wait, it says "supporting recent genetic finding," as to say that there was already research linking Peyronie's and cancer.. where is that?
Hello, I'm new here, 42 years old and developed Peyronie's about 6 months ago (I felt an injury during sex and it started from there, although I think overuse/masturbation in between sex also may have contributed to it) and have been doing mostly castor oil, sonic toothbrush, and Acetyl L-Carnitine capsules since then. My condition hasn't gotten worse after the first few weeks or so and I think that my treatment seems to be working. I actually slowed down my treatment at one point and it definitely felt like I would possibly get worse if I didn't start it up again (more capsules, castor oil every night with a tiny bit of DMSO, and specifically the sonic toothbrush massage really seems to help). I feel like my condition is fairly minor (dent in the right side of my penis, the curve is there but it's not too bad) so I'm trying to keep it that way, and even make it better.
I'm pretty healthy...I exercise fairly regularly and maintain a pretty good diet.
The main thing that I told my wife is that at least it's not cancer or anything that we can't handle. And I'm happy to say that I'm still functioning ok with it. But what's concerning to me is this recent article that I just read earlier today linking Peyronie's to an increased risk in certain types of cancer:

Hey, yes we had this study posted recently.
It's hard to really know what's going on in the study, and it's really too early to say. Somehow I'm not very worried about it, if only because men with Peyronie's also likely have bad habits anyway. If you're worried about these cancers, all I can say is let's all make an effort to do what we can to prevent them. : (

The good news is that my father is in his late 60's and he is healthy. And his father lived to age 91. I'm from a big family and luckily there are no cases of cancer that I know of, and I don't know if anyone else in my family has had Peyronie's so this article brought out an entirely new concern for me. So I guess I'll just continue to live as healthily as I can and listen to my body, watch for certain things, etc.
Thanks for your responses. I'll continue to post here and report my (hopeful) positive developments in treating my Peyronie's.
That reminds me, all my grandparent's lived till 90 or so and never had cancer. I wouldn't worry about this either just yet. : ) lifestyle factors are the cause of 90% of cancers anyway, said a massive review recently. We are now moving away from the genetic cause and back to the warburg effect and other environmental or lifestyle influences.

What doesn't increase your likelihood of getting cancer now-a-days. I read this and think it's a big load.

could this link not be due to elevated tgf-beta1? although low tgf-beta1 gets cancer started, elevated tgf-beta1 is what spreads it...
I don't think we have an increased cancer risk like for example smokers. It's not really something I worry aboutin this situation either.
Popopo, you said you're on Medicaid...if peyroines and untreatable ED, I believe an implant is covered...I'll research the Xiaflex too and report back on both. Hang in there guy!
