Aussie asking for opinions
« on: February 11, 2018, 07:40:37 PM »

Hi all.

I am a 56 year old from Australia (just south of the Gold Coast) and have had a bent penis for the last four years or so
Initially the head of the penis developed an upward turn while the shaft stayed straight.
I attended a GP who said come back if it gets worse, I didn't as other things took priority over my own health.
Now I have an erect bend of approx 40 degrees.
I have a palpable cord running form the base to the glans along the anterior aspect of the penis. There is a lump felt on this cord about ⅓ the penis length from the base.
It seems to be this cord that causes the bend.
The cord seems to be where the deep dorsal vein may be.

I have attended a urologist’s registrar who had a feel and said it was plaque and gave me 2 options. $8000 Xiaflex treatment or Nesbitt's procedure.
I have no health insurance so the Xiaflex would be self funded from who knows where, may have to sell my car. The Nesbitt’s would be done under our public health system.

The urologist did not offer an ultrasound so I went back to GP and requested one.

The report dated 16/1/2018  states
“There are a few small focal calcifications in the corpora cavernosa in the mid/proximal shaft of the penis. Corpora spongosia appears normal. There are no other features of interest.
Conclusion: Few calcific deposits in the corpora cavernosa. No other findings of significance.

As all my research on here and the net seems to imply that peyronies is plaque on the tunica albuginia I am concerned that my problem isn't “classic peyronies”.
What are your thoughts?

The ultrasound didn’t show plaque?  I think that’s what xiaflex addresses rather than calcification.  Xiaflex may have a patient assistance program in your country.  Plication will result in shortening, so be sure to be aware of that.  Good news may be that it’s stabilized now if the curve has been 40 degrees for years.  Does it prevent intercourse?

Hi Tsanchez.
It doesn't stop intercourse but makes it difficult.
No long deep strokes anymore.
My enthusiasm for sex has decreased due to my worrying whether I can "perform" or not.

I understand, mines like that-sometimes doable but just barely.

I've just been to the urologist (registrar) (apprentice) and he assures me that the "cord" is plaque running the full length of my penis.
He did go and talk to "the boss" before coming back with that answer.
I'm waiting for a quote for xiaflex treatment so I can approach my super fund and beg for a withdrawal to cover it.
However, I'm still not convinced.
Was thinking of contacting one of our polititians who has a reputation for having a very usable penis to see if he can go into bat for me.
I know this isn't the humour section but I couldn't help it.
