Oh Boy

I really don't wanna be here. But we can't change life.
Well I was born curved and I want to get surgery for it. Just wanna know what option does Kuehhas have when it comes to the incision. I know you can get circumcised if you want to (I'm not circumcised).

I wanna keep my foreskin and everything. I seen people that got their foreskin spared but they got their frenulum removed. Does that need to happen. I have a tight frenulum but I don't want to get it removed. I know people got circumcised with their frenulum untouched outside of this stage surgery. Anyone has experience with this. Before and after pictures while be helpful (sorry I'm New I don't know where they are).

All this feels crazy. Boy from the Caribbean planning to fly out to Austria. Well you have to do what you have to do. I need to change my life.

TonySa

Hi Oh Boy, what kind of curve are you dealing with?
PxD 2 yrs 9/16.  Failed all treatment. 9/11/18: excision, grafting & implant Dr Karpman MtnView Ca, AMS CX 18cm + 3-1cm RTEs.
Pump failed.  2/11/20 Dr Karpman installed Titan 22cm +1cm RTE.

Oh Boy

30 degrees downwards curve and a 5ish + degree curve to the right. Penis feels weird and deformed. It's not a clean curve either pretty sharp. Not Peyronie I had it checked 3 times.
Sex of course is possible but it really affects me mentally. I wanna turn to another chapter in my life.

Seriously nervous about surgery but I'm confident Kuehhas will pull it off. I won't let anyone else touch me.

TonySa

You've probably read re stage surgery and kuehas, but here's a pretty good explanation.  I'd ask him specifically about keeping your frenulum...no need to unnecessarily loose nerves and sensations.  Usually some loss of length, is that ok?  Traction after may help.  Search here for kuehas and maybe message those who have had surgery w him.  Good luck.  STAGE Technique for Congenital Penile Curvature | SexHealthMatters.org

Oh Boy

I've tried contacting him but his offices are closed until the 8th. I'm a little over 8inches long so losing a quarter inch will be nothing for me.

Thanks for the reply

TonySa

One of the studies said men with congenital curves were two standard deviations above the average in penis length..sounds like you're proof of that!  I suspect he can preserve your frenulum.  Hang in there until his return guy 😎

Oh Boy

Will do. Just if he can do it then my mind will be at ease. I'll start looking funding for this surgery soon. I want to get it done as quick as possible.

Oh Boy

WhatsApp meeting set for Wednesday 10th. I'll ask him all my questions and I'll post the answers here. Hopefully they'll be able to help someone.

If anyone has a quick question to ask him then I'll be happy to do so. Just post them under here.

Oh Boy – There are some questions that men with congenital curvature would benefit with answers to. If you don't mind asking and bringing the answers back:

- What specific techniques (Stage, plications, etc.) is he trained in, to correct a curved penis?
- What are typical complications that he sees during surgery for each of the techniques he performs?
- What are typical complications he sees after surgery?
- How would he rate his average patient's compliance with post-surgery self-care instructions? On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is perfectly compliant.
- Does he ever have to respond to situations where a guy has come in for surgery, and afterwards didn't follow instructions for abstaining from use of their penis for six to eight weeks? If so, how important is it that guys abstain from use during that time? And, why?
- Specifically related to corrective penis surgeries, what is the infection rate at his clinic?
- Does Kuehas always perform the surgery on his patients, or does he sometimes delegate to other doctors or doctors in training?

These are significant questions – and are topics we discuss and promote all the time here on the Forum.

If you can get answers, it will help us help others. Kuehas is widely respected because of the volume of successful surgeries overall (no one is perfect), and generally his bedside manner, care, and focus on male sexual function.

Oh Boy

Thanks will do.

I'll also ask him about the chances of risks. I seen some old stuff but I'm looking for an updated version. They state the risks of Nesbitt but not theirs.

qwertyman

Although I don't speak for him, but I feel I can answer some of John's questions from my own email exchanges & operation experience with Dr Kuehhas.

1) He specialises in "reconstructive andrology" with a focus on penile curvature. I would imagine he learned all the most common techniques however he, in partnership with Dr Egydio, developed the STAGE technique as a solution to classic nesbit. The main difference is that there are numerous small excisions are made at the greatest points of curvature, as opposed to fewer and larger excisions made with less accuracy under nesbit. You may hear of other less known techniques such as 16-Dot plication but these tend to be self-developed or modified by different doctors. In the case of the 16-Dot plication it seems only a handful of doctors in America do it from what I've read.

2 and 3) He has a very high success rate as shown with the original 2011 study published. I don't have the link but it's pretty easy to find. Although we don't have exact figures we have many successful cases of STAGE on this forum, with the failures usually from those who have had operations in the past. When I spoke to him he listed all the typical surgical risks that come with any operation such as infection, hematoma and so on. He told me he had never had a serious case of infection, and that hematoma's usually occur with patients who have had operations in the past and that they are usually pretty easy to treat with regular bandage changing and compression. I haven't asked about complications during operations but I imagine those would be caused by the penis being operated on being out of the norm, such as undiscovered scar tissue and other issues. However he checks for these before he makes the operation and is pretty thorough. For instance, he told me that many penis' with congenital curvature have scar tissue on the shaft from birth called chordee, and that I would probably have it when going under. Sure enough he found that tissue and it wasn't an issue during the operation. Other than that and pure human mistakes, I can't imagine there are any other major issues that can flag up during the operation.

4) Ultimately I don't feel it's important about patient cooperation because that's not something he can control, it's down to the individual. I followed all his instructions to the letter and healed perfectly. All symptoms I experienced he has told me about prior to the operation and as such I wasn't shocked or worried. This shows a good degree of understanding on his part of the best aftercare procedures.

5) I would imagine this has happened, and in that case he would work with the patient to ensure the best healing possible. He is regularly available through email or on whatsapp and responds quickly even to non-urgent queries. Again, it's down to the patient, not the doctor, to follow aftercare instructions, as with any operation both private or publicly financed.

6) He told me he had never experienced a serious infection that compromised the surgery. Also he doesn't perform the actual operations at his clinic, rather a private hospital close to his office. The clinic is very well staffed with a full team of professionals who have been doing this for a long time (everyone from surgical assistants and anesthetists). They follow the very thorough sanitation regulations as would any other hospital in Austria and the place was absolutely spotless when I had my operation there. I would imagine it's more clean than the general hospitals there because of the fewer patients that use it so therefore less chances of spreading bacteria.

7) At this moment Kuehhas always performs his own surgeries. He has assistants in the private operation clinic but they just help with tools and the equipment etc. Perhaps in the future he may expand and teach others, but at this moment he is the best man for STAGE as he made it.

Hope that helps,
Qwertyman

Oh Boy

Hey Guys

Well, I had my over the phone consultation with kuehhas today. All I could say is that I finally see the light at the end of the road.

JohnW all the questions you asked were answered by qwertyman but I still asked Kuehhas. All of his answers were just about the same but just his own way of saying it. Below Ill post some questions and answers that I want to highlight.

The biggest thing of this whole consultation was the question:
With the foreskin sparing procedure can you keep your frenulum?
Well yes, you can. He told me you can keep your frenulum with it looking like normal. So the frenulum still being attached to the head.

Of course, he does all surgeries.

I got quoted for 8500 euros. This includes the surgery, medication, consultation, hotel (I believe 3 nights) and the phallosan forte.

I asked about his success rate as the old APCT website had some figure of 98%+ successful. I asked if this is still the same?
He told me the success rate is similar and that almost everyone who has a complication came to mine without a virgin penis (their penis got operated on already). So he was fixing others people problems and what not.

Something which confused me is when we spoke about length lost. He said that you losing 1mm or .1cm for every 10 degrees is true for retraction, but after retraction, you will gain back your original length. I think he meant original length as t the short side. This is one thing you should not quote me on as I didnt understand what he was saying but I looked passed it. Again i think its a miss understanding on my part.

All in all, I got all my answers. The only thing that worries me is that I have some serious scaring going on my left side of my penis. I believe it's on my tunica and when erect it almost chokes the corpora cavernosa and I have a weird deformation on that side with girth. Can see it but can really feel it. I am nervous to see what he does but maybe it's not a very complicated fix. I can confirm that I will go to get the stage operation done with Kuehhas Sometime this year.

Maybe I left something out so feel free to ask questions.

JohnWright

That's great news, oh boy!

I appreciate qwertyman's enthusiasm. The point of the exercise, however, wasn't to get what qwertyman thinks, it was to demonstrate for future readers of the Forum what kinds of questions to ask, and to model doing that. So, for your own benefit, YES! that you asked the right questions.

It's important for surgeons to hear these questions come from your lips.

And, in the U.S., we don't have the luxury of being so smug about Kuehas doing the surgery. Here, it is a common occurrence for surgeons to meet you, talk all fancy, roll you in, and then walk right out of the room while a doctor in training screws up your dick, or your brain, or your heart, or your hernia operation. I posted a news article last year about brain surgeons in Seattle doing this very thing -- and getting caught.

So, important questions to ask every time by every man, even if the doctor's name is Kuehas. Why? His behavior could change next month! You don't know!

Anyway, keep us posted on your scheduled date!

Oh Boy

Yes I sure will keep you guys posted.

Kuehhas seems like a different guy. We spoke for about half an hour. The thing that caught me is how friendly and understanding he was. Another thing is that it was free. I am going to my fourth local urologist Friday and all of them are charging me for a consultation.

I understand man and money but I feel like Kuehhas is a little different.

Well thank you all who read my post and answered back. My next post will be documenting my surgery.

DanP

Hey oh boy
I read your story with interest. I had surgery with Kuehhas 3 years ago. He is great guy. I had perfect experience like many on forum. Think what you want to ask and go see Dr. Kuehhas with list of question. I did like that. He answer all question and then I was ready for surgery.
I have straight penis now after stage and I am 100% happy. Best decision I make to go and see Kuehhas. Do your research and ask many question. You will be in safe hand. Good luck and update.

Dr Kuehhas is indeed a very nice man who clearly wants to make his patients' lives better. He can fill you with confidence and that is so important.

alasch

Had the same impression when I talked with Dr Kuehhas. He gave me confidence

Oh Boy

Well I spoke to Kuehhas and I thought some people may benefit from this:

I have an indentation caused by scar tissue. I asked Kuehhas what he will do about this and the following was his response:

Kuehhas: For an indentation longitudinal stage excursions would be used. (Not an exact quote because I deleted that part of the chat. The rest is exactly what he said as I have a screen shot.)

Me: Would longitudinal stage affect girth?

Kuehhas: It will restore any girth lost by an indentation.

I don't understand how this will be to be honest. Normal stage remove parts of the tunica to make it to a similar length of the short side. So removing parts of the the tunica from the indentation should make the indentation deeper not more shallow. I will have to speak with him again to clear up this. But I thought it was interesting so I just wanted to post it.

Also note that I asked him to exclude grafts so I am note sure if this will need a graft or not.

JohnWright

Generally, I'm following what you're saying.

But, let's see if we can clear this up:

- the purpose in removing part of the tunica is to remove the part(s) overcome by plaque or scar tissue and which cause the penis to curve.

- In removing tunica portions, so that the short side can once again stretch, it makes sense that there will be an indentation, a pot hole or indentation of some degree, in the shaft.

- In some cases (like yours), the plaques or scar tissue has already caused an indent. Removing that, it seems, would slightly increase the depth of the indent.

- If fixing the indent (existing and about to be slightly increased) is on your mind, grafting seems like the most likely option to fill in the dent. However, you could also ask about stem cell sheets, just to find out if there's any known use in this respect. Dr. Kramer (Univ of Baltimore) uses stem cell sheets to promote tissue growth in other areas of the family jewelry.

Oh Boy

Yea that makes sense.

Thing is I didn't think he was talking about grafts but we will see.
