Somanyquestions

I am 53 years old and have found this site very informative and helpful. I look forward to all the information and advice you all can and do supply. Let me explain my situation.

Years ago a fun session with wife on top where I had no control over one thrust unfortunately I was on the losing end and found myself in pain. Pain went away after a day and I thought no big deal. After a time I slowly noticed a slight bend up and still did not think much.

After some time after that I remember an experience after having intercourse with wife - I had an erection that would not go away, lasting for over three hours. I was out of the country on vacation and it was scary - never realized how a hardon that laster that long would be unpleasant and painful. It finally subsided. Again no further thoughts. I noticed that the bend in my penis what slightly more but again no further thoughts (maybe subconsciously I was avoiding dealing with the issue).

About a year ago I was experiencing ED. I briefly and lightly addressed with my wife (very supportive) and went to a urologist. I was diagnosed with low testosterone and began treatments including daily get application gel and 5mg Cialis which both have helped correct the testosterone levels and somewhat help with the ED issues. I think part of me was relieved to find that testosterone was the problem.

I however became aware that the curvature become very noticeable when erect, and sex was becoming difficult. On one recent visit I approached the topic of having a bent penis to which I had just addressed with him for the first time. He gave a look and said he could tell that I had some plaque - how I do not know with a gloved hand in a matter of literally two seconds said he could tell. At that point no bend in flaccid state. He said that a VED would work and to take vitamin E. I immediately hit the computer and began following the site.

I secured the 3 tube VED and learned to use, marked the tube accordingly and used for a short time then faded off. I then noticed that in a flaccid state I see a slight bend up and to the right. Also intercourse is becoming more and more difficult. Mentally the self male image is taking a hit. I went to the urologist this week and he brushed me off saying that if I needed more attention on the Peyronies he can refer me to another urologist. I made an appointment to go to a new urologist, and tomorrow I will find out more hopefully.

I reached out to Old Man, Stabler67 and James1947 and they have been incredibly understanding and patient as well as very imformative. Follow their advice I finally broke down and took photos of my erect penis. I have been hesitating as did not want to have those pics on my phone and did not want to actually address my issue and taking this step would make it more real. So I measured.  I did not induce an erection on my own but rather waited until I got a hardon (morning wood). Seeing the photos are definitely an eye opener as I am not used to seeing a profile of my upper dorsal curvature from that angle. Let me say that I was thinking 30% curvature. At this point I now say I would be happy to have 30%. Uggghhh. I calculated the curvature to be 68% - now I know why intercourse has become so problematic and a struggle.

I will also add that until this point I have been trying to go it alone with very little discussion on "my problem" with my wife. My "I can handle it and take care of this alone" attitude is no longer there. That changed this morning after I saw the visual pics blarringly exposing the full details of the condition. Let me say it was a rewarding exchange, one that I greatly needed at this point.

So tomorrow is a big day for me. I will be asking questions and hopefully getting some answers. If for some reason I am not satisfied with this Urologist in Jupiter, FL I have the name of one in Weston, FL that is named in the forum.

I want to reach out to the members of this forum for any advice as well as any comments that you all feel would help. Thank you all for feeling like you all have my back.

Keep you posted, Somanyquestions

We're all in the same boat here my friend.
There are drugs and ways on trying to minimize or reverse the symptoms of peyronies, but the best thing you have right now is an understanding wife.
I hope it goes well at the urologist.
Good luck.

Reascot,

Thanks my friend.

I see we are all on an uncertain road.  I went to the Urologist today and it was an experience. It was a consultation where basically he told me not to waste my time on oral medications as nothing is proven to work.  He said it was either Xiaflex or surgery. Felt numb. All I kept thinking was all the information the members on this site have given me and how lucky I was. It is my decision to try oral medications, not his. It is my decision period!

So I scheduled an appointment with Dr Hakim in Weston (member shown to be great Urologist on this site who treats Peyronies Disease). I can not get into see him until after the first of the year. So I have to wait. In the interim I will continue with the VED 26 week program, L Argenine, Vitamin E, 5mg Cialis. Could be worse.........keeping a positive attitude.

You might ask your primary to prescribe pentox while your waiting for the specialist.  Since it's FDA approved, any doc should prescribe, and as you said it's your decision!

Reascot,
It is my decision period!

Good for you Somanyquestions  :), Why do urologists 'rush' to surgery, perhaps he thought you were another 'Cashcow' hmmm.

A word of advice, get a cheapish digital blood pressure monitor if supplementation becomes a regular thing  :) after say 30 days of supplementation I use EOD (every other day) as my protocol, gives the liver a break  :)

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
