What should I do? Acceptance?

I'm a youngish guy and I self-diagnosed a year ago. This diagnosis was confirmed when I went to see a specialist. Honestly, I feel like it was a painful waste of time and money. He squeezed the hell out of my dick and told me to buy some vitamins and a traction device before arrogantly waving aside my numerous questions. I left his office no plan to cling to. Through my own research I have basically determined that there is no cure, there is not that much known about it and all treatments are simply hopeful at best.

Is it worth it to see another specialist or is it time accept that this is not going away while doing what I can to ameliorate worsening symptoms?

I feel very frustrated that I have to deal with this for the rest of my life, and that I will have to prepare every future lover for my bent dick, and hope that it is accepted. I'm very frustrated that my exorbitantly expensive Doctor had nothing to offer me that he couldn't have told me over the phone or that I count have figure out with an afternoon with google.

Any hope, suggestions, or anecdotes? what do I do now?

Hi Silverman!
As almost all the guys around here, I also got fibrosis in my penis very recently, and I'm also very young for this (23). Although I feel no pain and the only symptom I have for the moment is the curvature, I completely know how you feel. Keep in mind though, that things like Pentox, Cialis and L-Arginine seem to help a lot to prevent further curvature and pain, so if I were you I would consider very seriously taking them. You're true in that there is not an actual cure for this, but things like traction and VED can help A LOT. My curve is mild for the moment, but I already started traction in order to prevent it getting worse and hopefully eliminate the curve (and even the scar tissue, if I get lucky).
About the girlfriends and future lovers: in the same way that I would never reject a women I love because she had a breast much bigger than the other (to put a silly example), any women who is worth spending your time with will not reject you because of a curved penis. Every person carries a bag with all their problems, fears and misfortunes. In our bag we carry this damned fibrosis, but keep in mind that any person will have MUCH bigger problems than these in their lifes. I think that going through something like this can make you a much better person and a better lover, because for a whole year you have to deal with a lot of masculinity issues. I think that if you face all of this with a positive mindset, it's impossible that you'll not come out of it being a more strong person. And I repeat, if the curvature really bothers you, it can be corrected with the correct use of traction and VED if your plaque is not yet calcified. And even if it still bothers you, then you could go through surgery, although I would NEVER recommend taking that way if your curve is mild. A lot of my friends were born with slightly curved dicks, and it has never been a problem for them. You have the same problem they have, only that you can actually reduce this curvature and correct it.
I'm 23 years old and I've never been with a woman because I was too shy and self-concious to talk to them, but this condition has forced me to be more proactive with them, and lately I've had much more "femenine contact" I've ever had in my life  :)
About the doctos: as I say to a lot of guys around here, don't even bother going with a general urologist, go only with someone who knows about Peyronie's, an specialist. You're from the USA, and you have some of the best specialists of Peyronie's in your country. Search information about them and go with one who you think is worth the money you're paying him. There is a lot of information about doctors in this forum (and other forums), so you can decide which is the best doctor for you  :)
I'm sure you'll be able to overcome this and live a happy live, as most of the guys around here will be able to do. Good luck!  ;)

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

Also, the common thing with ALL fibrosis conditions is magnesium deficiency.  Pay a visit to gotmag.org and read up on the information there.  Our diet these days is woefully unbalanced.  If I had done a few years ago what I am doing now, I likely would NOT have been struck with this.

It could just be that we are in an information age which has made the world much smaller, but it seems to me that more and more younger men are being beset with this.  There is a branch of biological/medical science called "epidemiology" which studies the effects of an environmental change on populations.  It takes a generation or two for the effect to be manifest.  Perhaps something changed in the last 20 years.  What comes to mind are two things...GMO's and Glyphosate (Roundup).  I wonder if anyone has studies if Glyphosate leaches magnesium from living creatures?  I would not be surprised.

How much curvature do you have?

You could use traction/VED or get Xiaflex.

These will reduce your curvature.

jumpman123

Hey man,

I'm also relatively new to this, and am also pretty young. Also have curvature, but no real pain to speak of.

Really the main thing to do is not beat yourself up. It's not your fault. Life is weird and wonderful and terrible at the same time. Just gotta deal with the cards you're dealt.

First thing to do now is to take action. PAV seems to be the signature cocktail of drugs people take (Pentox, L-Arginine, and low grade Cialis). This should help in preventing further scarring, ideally. Additionally, getting some magnesium chloride and acetyl l cartinine is a boon as well. Antioxidants might be good in preventing inflammation. Don't take much more than that as you'll burn out your esophagus. But you should first get the Pentox, ASAP. The only problem is that you need a prescription to get it.

Which leads into my second point- if you're urologist isn't giving you results, ditch them ASAP. You need a team member on your side for this, through the good and in case of worst case scenario. Bad urologists only get in the way.

Traction/VED is well regarded both here and medically for dealing with this issue, esp. if you're plaque hasn't calcified. It's a bit steep pricewise but along with Pentox it's your best shot towards recovery.

Finally, it's important to beat this mentally. Work out, see friends, maintain hobbies, work towards a career. Your life is still your life, you've just been thrown a curveball. Don't beat yourself up, don't stress out, just take it one day at a time. There's so much more knowledge now even compared to 5 years ago when all people were given was Vitamin E and a shrug. Keep your head up.

Sums up the main reason to keep going.  Progress is possible with what is known now beyond what what was known a mere five years ago.  At some point in the hopefully not too distant future the lines of ability to fix in a way which works for you and affordability of said fix will cross for you.

Hrvat21

I plan to fix it completely in a year, i had my fracture 6 years ago so really don't want to wait and want to be done with it finally. I plan to try ved and traction and if that is not enough perhaps go to surgery. I have curvature of 35 degrees let's say, but shortening and loss of girth and recurring pain after any stronger usage togerther with most of time weak erections is my biggest problem. I wish i did emergency repair of my fracture. now i have lot of scar tissue but i hope it can still be reversed or be very very close to what it was before. Do you think it can be fixed/reversed sucessfully in that way and with size regain?

DN

I know exactly what you are going through. I'm a PhD student, was in the best shape of my life, crushing every aspect of life and then one day while I was pissing and I felt some weird nodule thing in my dick. I have not been the same since (~7 months ago). My peyronie's has manifested as plaque in the septum of my penis and no curvature but I have some narrowing and indents all over my dick, not super noticeable but definitely to me. Unfortunately, and that's a big F^@$!ng unfortunately, I have also developed erectile dysfunction and have been dependent on ED pills ever since. There aren't any fixes for ED except for taking pills and implantation so... fuuuuckkkkkkk.

Consider that curvature has some very real treatment or "cures". Traction and xiaflex have been very effective in reducing curvatures to degrees that don't cause any problems. Pursue those aggressively. And fix your curve.

I know how you feel: F~@< now I have to live with this chronic issue the rest of my life.... Give us some details on your condition so far, what are you experiencing? I think if you're still getting strong erections and your curvature is not extreme then you could be straight enough after treatment to be feeling good again in less than a year.

Hrvat21

I have that curve, but i lost much size. My erections are at most 70% and the more i use my dick, the more it pains and my muscles contract creating some sort of wierd hard erection (but not full) and premature ejaculation. I must stimulate my penis almost allways or i lose erection. And when i ejaculate erection empties very slowly. I have very big hourglass at perineal part of my penis and there my curve starts. I think i broke my dick in two places, the one is that perineal, with hourglass (i have one more hourglass at the base of my penis), and at mid where i have most pronounced curve and there is something like a cut below the skin. my corpus spongiosum also inflates much less from that perineal "fracture", and it has a curve of its own, so the penis is never touching my pubic bone at that spot, it "goes away from it" or is curved at my stomach.

My curved side (up curve) is 3 cm shorter than the back side, i lost length and much girth, maybe 1-2.5 cm and my penis feels very weak all in all. My flaccid is also much smaller and feels empty. I have recurring pain at those spots that are injured. I guess that is the scar tissue/fibrosis. I also injured my bulbocavernosus muscle, as it hold only a half of my penis root, until the broken spot in perineum, which is the thinnest and most painful part of my penis, it flexes lol, my penis is rarely stable because of it and it has serious indent so it feels a bit like it was cut into with a knife (i overdramatise, but something similar). Because of pain, sometime i have hard flaccid, and i don't remember the last time my penis didn't feel some kind of light pain or at least wierd.

So i can let's say masturbate, but i prematurely ejaculate because of muscle injury, or i don't get fully erect and am in pain, my orgasms are much weaker and my penis has much less feeling, sometimes none at all, "like a finger". I managed to have sex few times with it but i either ejaculate too quick or feel much pain afterwards that make my muscle tensd even more, i have much weaker stream when ejaculating or pissing and i have to pull out urine and ejaculate by pushing where i have that injury of the root of penis-perineum and pushing the urine up lol. I think that is because of muscle i tore or ruptured or whatever, i have no muscle there

I must admit i gave my penis maybe too little time to heal? As i started masturbating after 2 months and was rarely very gentle with my penis durring my life :( Maybe it could still heal up i am 22 yo? But it has been 6 years since then and it is getting a bit worse i think. I rarely don't masturbate for a long time, but when i did it felt a bit better but it didn't take too much to put it in pain.

It allways feels like it could get broken again. And i just want my penis back with it's size and functionallity. If implant could give me my penis and size back i would take it without thinking. I am actually saving for surgery as i feel it will be needed. I think my penis maybe has corporal fibrosis of some kind and will need much reconstructing. I plan to go to maybe dr Kuehhas so that he can analise it properly untill the end if year, my uros till now (i'm from croatia and don't have much good doctors nerby) just like touched my flaccid and said they feel no calcification or considered me mad or sexually anxious, which i am but because of this crap :( It's alwful being in this.

I am sorry for all those info, but i wanted to write it all if anxthing could help. I have around 10000 euros for possible surgery and i am trying to get more, they are too expensive  I plan to order VED device and try cialis pentox, get traction too to restore some size, but i really think surgery will be needed for this. If i knew some surgery that would give me back my size and function and was close enough and resonably priced, and it was safe i would do it this moment, i wouldn't mind even an implant.

In my head, my dick is still the one i had and have to restore, and acceptance is very hard, i can accept this only as a temporary state from which i will get my "old" pre injury dick back, at at least close to it. Maybe it's not the best outlook, but i can't think any other way

There aren't any fixes for ED except for taking pills and implantation so... fuuuuckkkkkkk.

There are fixes for ED.  Once the cause is addressed.  "boner" pills are a stopgap, and don't really address the cause.  Finding THE cause in your case will require being your own advocate in the medical field.  The unfortunate part is that we have over specialized, and to a man with a hammer all problems look like nails.  Research into ALL of the potential causes of ED, including psychological ones.  Many a physician will sometimes tell you it is "all in your head", which is far from the truth, however, there are physical factors AND mental/emotional ones.  Beyond the Tunica scar tissue which is the primary focus of this forum, there are circulatory factors to be addressed as well.  Again, "boner" pills CAN circumvent these...to a point...but they are not an actual cure.

There are also nerve related issues, as if it is damaged to the point of pain, there are potentially other nerve elements.  I, for one, have been injured in the pelvic region to the point of nerve rerouting...some normal functions have been diminished and/or slightly mixed up for over three decades.  No, I've not dealt with Peyronies Disease for that long...only about 6 years for this issue.

There are dietary considerations...our "western diet" is imbalanced beyond comprehension.  We (the food and vitamin industry) supplement the wrong things...some of them even toxic...and ignore foundational elements.  The "science" behind most of modern medicine is flawed, as it does not treat the whole body.  I know it is difficult when the penis is broken to focus on the larger picture, but overall health goes a long ways towards treating the "specific" issues which have our focus.  Take a step back and look at the health of your entire body.

There are fixes for ED.
That isnt true, there arent cures for ED really, DN is correct. There are palliatives as pills injections or implant, but they arent really cures. The diet wont work unless you have morbid obesity, it wont cure you, and the psychological ED is more an excuse on the part of doctors when you are young and they dont know what to say, almost no one has psychological ED, anxiety in a Man with ED, is due to the ED, not the opposite. This is just a vile lie of urologists and finding the cause of the ED wontt help you, at least it wont help you solve the problem, because either the cause is a fracture(48 hours window), arterial damage, venous or nerve damage you will never be as before. Since you will need pills or injections or implant. Authentic cures with this problem doesnt exist
