Hello,

I'm a 56, WM and developed what I am sure is peyronies almost overnight about 6.5 months ago.  I cannot attribute the onset to any thing specific.  Sadly I already knew of and was generally aware of peyronies since, oddly, my father had this but since I was adopted there isn't a heriditary component I know of. Needless to say this is emotionally wearing. Fortunately I have a partner (I'm gay) who has been understanding.

Besides mentioning this to my GP who prescribed vitamin E, I have not seen a doctor.  I found this forum and while it certainly is "helpful" and full of information, it is almost overwhelming. I've been a member for awhile and read through lots of posts but am almost as confused as when I started--there is a lot of difffering opinions on treatments, etc.

I would like to go see a specialist to at least discuss some of the things mentioned here but not sure how to find one.  If anyone can recommend someone truly versed in this in the eastern part of NC or VA that would be a big help.  I am not opposed to traveling wherever if it is worth the effort.

Although straight or gay or whatever this impacts us the same emotionally and physically but it would be nice if there is a gay subgroup for discussion.

I haven't seen a gay sub group in the forum but if you find one, please let me know. FYI, I'd recommend that you see a urologist soon. You could be a candidate for xiaflex injections which is the only effective non surgical treatment for this that I've found. I get my med treatment in San Francisco, and Dr Lou at UCSF is the eminent authority on Peyronies. You might contact his office to see if they can recommend a qualified urologist in your area. A lot of urologists have no more knowledge and skill in treating this than a GP, which is to say none. Good luck!

I'd be interested as well.  Can any one add a new category of discussion threads?  Or perhaps the administrator could respond?  Thxs
