Finastride helps get full erection

Hi, I recently started taking Finastride. As you may know, you get very high libido when you start. I was unable to maintain an erection sitting down or standing up before taking Finastride, as my Peyronies had progressed. Just last week, I started Finastride to improve hair growth and I started getting full erections. My length is almost the same as before and my girth is almost the same as before. However, I still have a bend in my penis and my penis points to the right, unlike before where it is straight up. However, I have noticed that with my now stronger erection I can point my penis up in the air again sometimes. I also hold erections for at least 30 min to 1 hr until I come.

There are people who say Peyronies may be caused by Finastride but there is no proof of that. If Finastride causes high libido when you start it, then it might mean that its helping with blood flow with my penis too.

On the other hand, it could be that my Peyronies is improving on its own. I injured myself 4 months ago. The only way to find out is to stop taking Finastride and see if my high libido and erections go away.

I realize this high libido is temporary and other people who start Finastride report deceased libido's for a short time when they start. These are my results personally and your results may not be the same.

I'd also like to mention that I masturbate 2-3x per day.

Anyone else take Finastride for hair growth?

I heard that too. However, Peyronies was diagnosed in the 17th century and Fin/Propecia came about 3 centuries later....So, I don't think has anything to do with the disease.

I've heard too much bad stories about finasteride. I don't think it's usefull to discuss the use of finasteride here, because obviously it won't have any positive effects on peyronies long term. All finasteride does is block dht, which initially could raise free testosterone. Giving you better erections, but I've read too much about finasteride desensitising your androgen receptors as well so unless you're balding and don't care about your hormones or penis I wouldn't take it and I see no use discussing this in a peyronies forum.

I've never heard anyone, in many years, report a higher libido or better erections with Finesteride. In fact, the opposite is the case - the drug purposefully suppresses DHT (a form of testosterone) in order to promote hair growth on the head. It's notorious for causing erectile dysfunction - it certainly did with me. That's one of the common side effects of the drug.

Curious that you're enjoying a boost. Whatever the cause, enjoy it.

Finasteride does increas testosterone when you first start using the drug, particularly in those who had low testosterone to start with.  So you probably have low testosterone.

I'm afraid that finasteride is implicated in my peyronies. Finasteride together with lots of reverse cowgirl. Well, reverse cowgirl wouldn't have even been possible for me before taking finasteride, because I was pointing upwards a lot, but with a less hard dick because of finasteride, i would stick out lower. Little did I know that it's bad to have sex with a less than 100% full erection :(

Finasteride made me ED. After reading the label and searching the internet, I see ED as one of the main side effects.
But we are all different, so maybe fro someone Finasteride is an ED drug

Hi, everyone, just an update.. I increase my dose of Finastride (for hair) and my erections are the hardest they have ever been since my Peyronies. My penis bend still exists and causes me to be half inch or  less than 1 inch shorter in length, and my girth is slightly less than before. Sometimes erections can be painful. I'm able to masturbate 3-5x per day at the most with some days 1-2x. There is a loss of sensitivity but probably because I masturbate too much. Finastride has increased my libido and it's very distracting. I plan to speak to a uro at my next appointment. Good luck to everyone!!!!

Just a caution to be gentle w frequent masturbation to prevent any further aggravation to your peyronies.  Otherwise, I'm sure many guys wish they had your sex drive.

Also consider a fleshlight if 'frequent' masturbation is your thing, definitely gentler on the penis, also masturbation pressures cannot easily be altered using one, always with waterbased lubricant (of course)  :)

3 times a week would be my advice  ;D

Thanks.... My sex drive is very distracting as its harder to focus. I took a break because I think I am less sensitive to touch and I am going to wait as long as I can before I try again.

Is some loss of sensitivity part of the healing process by any chance (after 4-5 months of Peyronies)?

Congratulations dude! You just ended getting yourself erectile dysfunction! Search online for ''post finasteride syndrome'' and ''propecia'' side effects!  That medication is complete crap and should be avoided like the plague! Awe you are here saying it improved your erection? Dr Goldstein even has a video about this in his channel.

I agree, Finasteride can and will make your peyronie's worse and could permanently kill your sex drive and ability to maintain an erection.  It blocks DHT which can cause BPH as a man ages. BUT DHT is needed to maintain health of the penis as well as sex drive.  They even give DHT to boys that have micro penis to try and promote penis growth.  What you are experiencing is your body trying to figure out what is going on, so its def messing up your hormones and until it really takes effect, you are noticing the increased sex drive.  I wouldn't touch this stuff if you paid me.

Im sure Finasteride has nothing to do with Peyroines. I've never even heard it suggested. All Finasteride is is 1/2 the dose of Proscar, a drug used to shrink the prostate in cases of benign prostate enlargement.

I had hair transplants back in 2012, when I was 54. (I never lost any hair til I was 50+). The hair transplant docs always push Finasteride but I refused it back then, having heard all the horror stories of it causing ED. So, I just had 3,000 follicular units (clumps of 3-4 hair follicles at once, taken from the sides of my head and transplanted to the front and top of my head) without taking it. Easy to do and well worth the money. It only takes a day to do. You just sit and watch movies for 8 hours while 3 women work on you. It's expensive (8,000$USD for 3000 follicular units), and I had to fly all the way to San Diego, California to have it done, but it was the best price going. (They gave me a discount. The price was normally 3,00$USD per follicular unit. I'd love to have another 3000 units to fill in the crown on my head but, I have to wait till I have the money.) That would fill me in pretty well. They don't insist you take Finasteride. I said, no and that was the end of it. It supposedly helps some guys and I sort of doubt it causes ED, but it has nothing to do with Peyroines. I never heard it raised libido before.

Peter, NONE OF those things derail your life-it's the depression that does so AND YOU CAN address that.  Unless of course you choose not to and keep repeating this self defeating mantra...

you are delusional if you think all of these things cant derail a young mans life. depression is just a consequence of it. its semantics, the depression wouldn't be there otherwise

TonySa, may i ask you what is your sexual orientation and how much your dick means to you in terms of your sexuality? Not to disrespect, i just want to know because i don't think you understand the magnitude of the disease. If you have other sexual things going on for you, even if i find them a bit deviant i am no homophobic nor any type of sexual phobic. I just want to ask this because i see your answer on every topic and you act like this curse is not a big deal. Getting this at your teenage years is absolutely the F^@$!ng worst thing that can happen to you and it is definitely much worse than other health conditions no doubt. This is not even a question. This being utter crap is not even a question. It is just that we are all (i hope) here to cure this crap once and for all and we need to be F^@$!ng clear about that. It's not positive nor productive to claim something that bothers someone's life is miniscule or irrelevant. Even suggesting that it's not a big deal as it is completely irrational and disrespectful.

peter123

Dinally some people are getting what a cancer Pedronies actually is. Much worse than most forms of cancer. Qnd I had a completely destroyed life before mostly with regqrds to body image so this is literally the most ironically worst thing that can happen. Its pure wnd utter emasculation

Hontas, I'm gay and sexually active but what does that have to do w my feedback?  Peter is severely depressed and until he addresses that he will not be able to address his Peyronie's.  Sexuality can be important at any age-and using ones youth as the reason they will not address their depression or body dysmorpia only digs them deeper into a hole.  Many, many guys have reached out to Peter only to be dismissed or put down.  I hope he can accept some support and address his issues-meanwhile those who reach out to him will continue to get frustrated.  I was only encouraging them to not take it personally.

Finasteride lowers DHT and raises estradiol, leading to water retention and higher blood pressure. Could the higher blood pressure explain the improved erections?
