Can I trust this uro for Xiaflex?

So I have an appointment with Doctor Nelson at Western Wisconsin Urology. He's a pretty young guy but sort of impressed me because I mentioned I had curvature and as soon as I showed him a picture he said peryoines and recommend Xiaflex. He also did a hand examination to see where the plaque was(grip was a little too strong frankly but nothing absurd). I don't know if he found the plaque but today I figured out I have some on the left side and underside of the middle of the shaft. This causes a 30% left curvature (appeared 2 months ago) and a 30-45% upward curvature (always remember having that never thought anything of it)

I'm just nervous to have these injections because I have heard of complications. He's only an hour away from where I live which is convenient. I didn't even get billed for the first appointment. Should I trust this guy? He said he's done a few Xiaflex injections before and I think I'll just call and ask how experienced he is with peryoines/Xiaflex injections. My 1st one is Sept 28th and then another October 5th. His opinion was the only effective treatments he thinks works are Xiaflex or surgery and he wants to avoid surgery if at all possible(phew)

Tripplestrike10,

I would have your URO do an ultrasound first so he can know exactly where the plaque is. It won't do anything if he isn't injecting into the plaque. I have gone through 6 cycles and gone from 50 degrees to about 20 degrees. I would agree with your URO, Xiaflex is the way to go. However, traction with the Penimaster Pro and VED with the SomaArrect are also beneficial.

Since you are in Wisconsin, I highly recommend ordering a NeoMAX Gold magnet from Lyon Legacy. They are also in Wisconsin. Your URO will think you are crazy, but tell him to humor you. You will want to have the magnet wrapped on the bottom of the penis because that is where blood pools. Through trial and error I have found the bottom of the shaft will eliminate blood pooling with the magnet, otherwise you will be black and blue and swollen. I wish I had the magnet for my first 3 cycles because one of the side effects is discoloration from the pooling blood. Also, you want your URO to send you home with a roll of COFLEX (wrapping) Keep the COFLEX on for four days after the injections with the magnet and you will reduce if not completely eliminate swelling. It's interesting that he is going a week between injections. My URO spaces them 3 days apart. Whatever you do, no sex, etc. for 2 weeks or you could get a fracture and that would be much worse. However, fractures are a 1 in 10,000 thing, but that is one way to increase the odds of fracture.

If you need any advice PM me. I have been through 6 cycles and have several more to go.

I think we have to do them on Thursdays because the Western Wisconsin urology drs go from clinic to clinic throughout the week. The advice is much appreciated. I think I will call about the ultrasound as Xiaflex is too expensive to fail cause of that. Plus I want to be sure the plaque isn't in a place that could cause complications.

Yeah he doesn't do ultrasounds. But I doubt my plaque is in the tube. Sadly there no distinct bump just a tough layer of scar tissue on the left/underside going in a line

Tripplestrike10,

If he doesn't do ultrasound, you need to find a URO that does. You should have plenty with UW in Madison or Milwaukee being major medical centers. Also, don't forget about the magnet if you do go with Xiaflex. You will save yourself a lot of pain and swelling.

Thanks Quackattack, I think for my own peace of mind I should definitely see a second uro and look into an ultrasound. A peyronies specialist if possible. Now it's a matter of finding someone who's a covered by my insurance. Although my curve is pretty significant I'm ok with leaving it as is for the moment until I know what I want to do. I'll definitely look into the magnet, I saw your topic on it and it seems to work wonders.

Hopefully my uro isn't upset with me cancelling and will write me a prescription for Cialis. I'd rather have 10mg than 5

Look at the testimonies on the magnet from their website. Knocks out inflammation better than NSAIDs.
