Noticed a curve on two days ago - advice welcome!
« on: August 23, 2017, 09:38:49 PM »

Hello Everyone,

I apologize for the quality of my writing and all these run-on sentences. I would greatly appreciate any advice that you could share. For the most part I’m staying positive.

I just turned 25 in June and recently started dating someone seriously for the first time in almost four years. Early on I noticed I was having a lot of trouble getting an erection with my new girlfriend and we’ve been trying to have sex for almost a month now. For the most part, she has been pretty understanding but I was still very bothered about having ED so young. At the time, I thought this was probably due to masturbating with porn too often as I can get an erection when I’m masturbating to porn, so I've been trying to cut back on that somewhat unsuccessfully. Willpower is not my strong suit sadly, but I'm working at it.

To get to the reason why I'm on here, On Monday 08/21/17 I noticed my erect penis had developed a significant and unnatural curve to the left that was not there previously. It also curves upward slightly, but I think I’ve always had that. I never really paid that much attention to my penis to be completely honest, but the way it’s shaped looks like a few pictures of milder cases I’ve seen on the forum, although not quite as sharp of an angle.

Anyways I've kind of been obsessing over this and have tested it last night and today to see if it's improving. I think it might be getting worse to be honest and I have been feeling some minor pain in that area today while working at my desk job. I think I'm going to attempt to leave it alone as much as possible. I don’t notice any little bumps but my testicles are sore along the sides and beneath the shaft of the penis. The skin around the base of my penis does seem tougher than the skin on the shaft, especially the left side. Maybe that is plaque but I’m not sure. I think all this self-diagnosis isn’t much help right now.

I don't really know if I have peryoine's or not. I also am not 100% sure if I injured myself recently while intimate with my girlfriend, we tried a lot of dry humping and unsuccessful attempts at penetration but it's more likely that any injury happened in the past is due to unhealthy masturbation techniques. I’ve never wrapped it with my hand, mostly rubbed myself through clothing/sheets(gently) or humped my mattress (this is probably the cause to be honest). I wasn’t feeling any pain leading up to noticing the curve on Monday.

I have made an appointment on August 31st with a doctor at Western Wisconsin Urology, which is a clinic dedicated purely to that field with multiple urologists working for it in different cities around the state. I don’t know how familiar they are with peryoine’s but this is probably better than just going to a urologist at a more generic clinic I would think.

I don’t know what to expect and this forum lists many bad experiences with medical professionals, so I was hoping for advice if they do diagnose me with peryoines. I’ve read that in the acute stage, it can be a bad idea to try certain treatments or medications and that you should wait a few months for the problem to stop getting worse. Would you suggest a wait and see approach at this point before taking any medications or trying to use a pump/traction?

I’m very worried that this could get worse and potentially become very painful, I can at least still get an erection and hopefully the urologist can give me some good medication to help with the ED problems I’ve been having with my girlfriend. I can easily straighten my penis with my hand so intercourse wouldn’t be a problem if I can maintain an erection, assuming the doctor says it’s not a problem.

I’m a little overwhelmed by all the information out there on peryoine’s and a lot of it seems like smoke and mirrors, I’d love to hear from people who have had success treating the condition.

I'm not sure where you read on this forum to "wait and see". Some doctors suggest this but we don't. You need to be proactive with treatment but don't over do it. I would wait until your appointment since it is coming up soon to get a little more insight into your exact situation. I believe traction or VED can always be used cautiously.

For peace of mind, sooner is always better.  Still, its best to educate yourself.  The first doctor I went to correctly diagnosed me but said the erection pain would go away.  He failed to mention it may lead to a bending of my penis and like most, I had no idea of the future course this could take.  I think there are certain medications I could have taken to prevent my bend.

Masturbation the cause?  Who knows, don't beat your self up over that one.  Most of us can't point to one certain activity or even that led to injury that brought on peyronies.  And most guys masturbate, even rough, in different ways that don't lead to peyronies.

Best of luck, check back and lest us know how things go.
