This is a very interesting study using combinations of:Silymarin+ Ginkgo+ vitamin E+ propolis+ bilberry+ topical diclofenac + pentoxifylline injections. They had 5 groups using one or more of the above. The results were very significant!

Born 1960, Diagnosed 2013
Initial 40 degree bend, 1" loss, Xiaflex 3 rds of 2 injections
Current 25 degree bend, no palpable plaque, 1/4" loss
VED 5-6 days/week, traction daily,
TRT 20 ml twice weekly, Cialas 3 mg - No ED - Doing Well!

That is a big result and the actual treatment would not be hard to follow, except for the pentox injections.

Diclofenac gel/spray is just Voltaren.

I've very interested in this. I'm tempted to rush out and buy as many of the supplements used, but I'm wary. When I realized I was losing my hair I tried supplements and creams galore. Saw palmetto and propecia may have contributed to my peyronies. It certainly decreased my night time erections, and we all know we need healthy blood flow in the penis to prevent peryonies.

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing from anyone on this board who has tried silymarin, ginko biloba, propolis, bilberry, and/or any combination of them.

basebend

Nice study. Anyone here have experience using topical diclofenac / Voltaren?

Arabia

Yes I tried it during the active phase for pain control and it seemed to reduce the pain by about 50 percent.  I used the strong formulation which is 2.3 percent.

TonySa

I called the pharmacist who indicated there is both a 1% and 3% Diclofec gel.  I'm trying the 3%, will increase by 25% to match the 4% gel in the study and report back with any progress.  I have also ordered the antioxidants used in the study.

James
Age 71, Peyronies from Jan 2009 following penis fracture during sex. Severe ED.
Lost 2" length and a lot of girth. Late start, still VED, Cialis & Pentox helped. Prostate surgery 2014.
Got amazing support on the forum

TonySa

No, maybe worsening...I'm waiting to see Dr Lue on 10/20/17 and hoping to start xiaflex with the supplements.

Thanks for the update Tsanchez

I am not surprised it didn't help.
From reading all the posts on the forum for many years, very rarely I read about some topical treatment that helped with Peyronies

Has anyone heard of the PTX100 injections?  Is thus pentox  and is it injected into the plaque?

would you apply the voltaren/diclofenac on the shaft or on the glans where it gets absorbed more readily?

I've been applying on the shaft, especially at plaque

how would it ever penetrate to the plaque? the skin moves, it's like a glove on top. At least for an uncut penis like mine... I'm confused, maybe circumcised penises have a better chance of success from topical treatments?

Topical treatments IMO don't go deep enough, as pey ron has said the skin is like a glove, I am uncut also  :-\

I believe it relates to the molecular weight of the topical.

I'm following the study but am substituting Xiaflex injections.

We don't know that the cream had any effect in the study, since they added several oral supplements with it. They added propolis, for instance, which also has some positive peyronie's research on the books. Personally, I don't think topical NSAIDs will help at all.

TonySa

True, but both inexpensive.  I'm following the protocol but substituting Xiaflex.  The article has a rationale for the diclofenac other than just pain relief.

"diclofenac has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant activity, but its antifibrotic activity has also been ascertained, as it has been shown to inhibit fibroblast proliferation.81–84"

It's a gel and mostly local to where applied.  Can penetrate to deep tissues.

Diclofenac is an NSAID, as with all nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs they should not be taken 'long term', mostly a heart risk. Having said that please update if any member gets an improvement with it  :-\
