Has anyone tried drinking a BCAAs supplement? I know, it's not regulated but let's face it the FDA is kind of a joke. I'm just entertaining the thought. The supplement facts on the one I'm looking at are as follows

Vitamin B6(as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 640mcg-32%
Sodium 220mg-9%
Potassium 170mg-5%
L-leucine-3500mg
L-Glutimine-2500mg
L-Isoleucine1750mg
L-Valine-1750mg
Electrolyte Blend: Trisodium Citrate Dihydreate, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride-1170mg
Citrulline Malate (1:1) 1000mg

0 carbs and 0 grams of sugar.

I mostly drink water and a glass of green tea daily. I don't drink coffee and other than green tea, I don't consume anything with caffeine. Any input on this or adding any drinks would be greatly appreciated. I don't consume any alcohol either.

This is a great question. I think leucine and other BCAA's may prevent fibrosis by activating nrf2 and blocking tgf-beta and myostatin. On the other hand, over activation of the mTOR pathway inhibits autophagy and was shown to worsen lung fibrosis. Google mTOR and fibrosis and see what the mechanism is there, or BCAA and fibrosis.

BCAAs may kick you out of ketosis, but that's a debate you'll have to research yourself for now. I'd love to know the answer to that.

So long as people respond to this thread I'll remember to keep researching it. I'd love an answer too.

After a quick search I found this. "BCAAs may have a protective role against liver fibrosis via antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms." The study was done on rats.

I use whey ISO protein, which contains all the bcaa's ( all nine amino acids) as I'm in the gym 4-5 days a week.

It certainly helps the body repair itself after strenuous exercise.

Leucine, isoleucine, and valine are the three essential amino acids. Meaning that the body cannot make them from other sources, you can only get them directly through your diet or take them.

There wasn't much science backing anything up in the article. This summary seems to be on par with most google searches. I understand science is good but, everybody seems to have different things that work/help them with peyronies.

Amino acids offer benefits for men beyond the maintenance of lean muscle mass and muscle performance.

A combination of three amino acids—alanine, glutamic acid, and glycine—for example, can help in the treatment of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH) when taken daily at 300 mg each.
L-arginine is an amino acid that transforms into nitric oxide in the body, which in turn causes blood vessels to widen and improve circulation to the penis. If erectile dysfunction is an issue, then this amino acid may be able to help. One study found that the combination of L-arginine and the herbal supplement pycnogenol can be helpful in younger men (25 to 45) with ED.
Carnitine also improves blood flow. When added to the treatment plan of men with ED who were taking sildenafil (Viagra) without success, the amino acid in two forms—propionyl-L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine–prompted positive results. In a study of Peyronie's disease, the combination of propionyl-L-carnitine and verapamil was effective in treating advanced and resistant disease.
Ornithine supplementation may improve exercise performance, as demonstrated by a group of young, healthy adults who participated in a cycling study.
L-citrulline, an amino acid found watermelon and supplements, can improve erection hardness in men who are experiencing mild erectile dysfunction.

Any thoughts or conflicting data are more than welcome.
