Guys, Just read this on Pubmed regarding calorie restriction  to reprogram damaged erectile tissue toward neurovascular repair in aged men.

Calorie restriction reverses age-related alteration of cavernous neurovascular structure in the rat. - PubMed - NCBI

Its an interesting study, don't know where we go with it however  :-\

Could it be the body has 'less to do'  digestion wise meaning repair is enhanced, interesting.

Interesting.. I heard before that intermittend fasting can increase growth hormones temporarily so maybe that has something to do with it. I stkl think it's too complicated to really adjust our lifestyles on it though. The flipside is that y9u need a caloric surplus to grow, gain muscle, raise testosterone, etc. Not necissarily too much of course as you will gain fat if you do, but not getting enough food might cause the opposite effect of what you want. In all honesty I think it doesnt reallymatter that much unless you're overeating or not eating enough.
Age: 25
Date of onset: 17
Symptoms: sharp pains, numbness, change in shape/size, hourglassing and discolaration from jelqing/VED usage as a teen. Diagnosed with a venous leak and possible scarring.
Treatments tried: cialis, pentox and VED didnt help

Good god, this is just great. I've been researching fasting and ketosis for hours a day for the last month. Every single thing I read points to the idea that lower blood glucose or fasting-like states repair damaged tissue as this study suggests. Good find! I've been in ketosis for a month or so and my burning feet are much better, and the Peyronie's scars seem soft. This is one of those very hard things to recommend, since some people would likely try it and not see a big difference, but like beating any chronic illness, it isn't about finding a 100% cure per se, but about doing everything you possibly can. Fasting and ketosis seem like powerful tools for ones health and for reversing organ damage.

Paolo

NeoV, tell me, are you keeping a diary?, it doesn't need to be a long winded thing just some thoughts on how your ketosis is helping, or not.
I am hoping you will post some time a regimen on what has definitely benefited you as I am always very trusting of your posts.

By the way I have justed started on bio-gluco (a mix of chromium yeast and Chilean maqui berry extract) for blood sugar control.

If your interested I can PM you the details  :)

Glad you found the link of interest  ;D

Nice find, calorie restriction reduces the amount of free radicals and oxidative stress. Most of us could probably benefit from this. I am currently researching and using a Hydrogen Water system. The goal is the same, reduce free radicals and oxidative stress that has been linked to fibrosis.  :)

Remember that in vivo study showing starvation kicked off autophagy of fibrosis from a while back? Looks like everything is pointing in the same direction here, problem is specifics.

How long, how little etc.

Great find btw Paolo.

I have experimented with fasting in the past, it seemed like something that could be beneficial if I worked out the specifics right. For instance things seemed absolutely great on day 2, loose flaccid hang, sensitive etc, but seemed to reverse on day 3. There might be a threshold of calorie intake that keeps you in repair mode without going into conserve mode (in laymans terms).

Calorie restriction may be the best new idea that has been discussed. Just starting to do some research on it and there is no doubt that, for most, it would be difficult to do it right. I think you would need to dedicate at least a year to it. Also, I think you would have to give up most if not all alcohol consumption. Does anyone plan to give this a shot?

You would also need to consider forms of exercise to avoid muscle loss whilst doing this.

I believe CR has had dramatic effects on diabetes, cancer and heart disease, perhaps member NeoV could have some further input  :)

Has any member read Beyond the 120 Year Diet, I am going to look it up  :)

I guess mini step 2 is a bit of maths to find a comparable level of calorie restriction in humans?

So:

QuoteFour groups of rats were used: young rats (7 months) + ad libitum, aged rats (22 months) + ad libitum, young rats + CR diet, and aged rats + CR diet. The ad libitum group had free access to both food and water, and CR groups were fed 60% of the food intake of their ad libitum littermates, starting from 6 weeks before sacrifice.

I guess the easiest starting point would just be to work out how much you eat each day (average) and cut it down to 60% of that.

Keto / CR / or IR (intermittent fasting) indeed reduces your chances of developing cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's, reverses insulin resistance, re-creates your immune system, reverses and prevents aging, and removes inflammation. It's a good thing to do if you have any carpal tunnel or joint issues as well. The book "Sugar Crush" talks specifically about how blood glucose causes many nerve compression and inflammatory disorders. Even mildly elevated blood glucose causes tissue organ damage and fibrosis.

I have been keeping a diary for the last month on my nerve pain, rather than Peyronie's! It's a little rough, but it says what I ate and how bad my nerve pain was.

I FINALLY feel like my hands are my own. When I walk around, I feel like I'm actually on my feet, here, existing. The constant burning and tingling in my feet and hands is 90% GONE. It sounds so cliche, but it's seriously working for my neuropathy. Also, I have no more extreme exhaustion, sickness, or panic attacks at work or at home. In all seriousness, I feel the best that I have in the last 6 years or longer! My wife appreciates the fact that I can hang out with her and do a lot more without feeling awful. I just feel alive again.

I am by no means over-eating fats, but rather just having a good amount of olive oil with veggies and meat everyday. I've been having a couple eggs for breakfast daily, and have avoided all grains, sugars, and starches of any kind. I did mess up and eat some sugary treats last weekend, which resulted in some extremely scary moments as I went hypoglycemic in response to the shock. I felt so ill afterward that I couldn't even walk up the stairs to my apartment. I recovered from that and am back to feeling great.

I'll see how my Peyronie's is while erect and flaccid in more detail this weekend, but I don't expect anything to change too soon given the nature of the disease. That being said, my symptoms are good, if not GREAT lately, and I haven't even been doing traction. The only therapy I'm doing now is taking CoQ10, which I firmly believe helps.

Paolo

NeoV, I am really happy for you, great post by the way!
I am going to look up Sugar Crush, yeh sugar is so addictive, sounds like you need to stay completely away from it (not easy).

So if I understood you correctly you are on little or zero carbs diet

Once again great post  ;D

Emptied! Thanks for the warning. Yes I feel much better but have to make sure I eat plenty. I eat a small amount of carbs but it's through vegetables (fibrous carbs). I'm not against having a small amount of bread or carbs if you're feeling very ill and dizzy etc.
