Hello

I injured myself roughly 3 months ago which has resulted in a 15-20 degree curvature to the right. I also experience pain on the left side of my penis when both flaccid and erect where the curve begins. I had sex once and masturbated a few times since injury but I experienced more pain and curvature so have since stopped all sexual activity. After reading the survival guide 2 weeks ago I have been taking 400g CoQ10, 2g L-arginine and 2g of Acetyl L-Carnitine.

I had both an ultra sound and a physical examination but the both didn't find any obvious plaques. I have however noticed a slight "ridge" just below the glans which was not there before. The urologist was sure it was still peyronies disease in the acute phase from the symptoms and a physical examination.  The urologist told me to wait and see in several months and prescribed my Vitamin E. I asked him about Pentox and Traction Devices and he said he didn't want to prescribe Pentox but recommended a traction device (unfortunately they are not currently available on the NHS.)

I am still quite young (24) and the most sexually active I've ever been so I was nervous of receiving the diagnosis. However, compared to many people on this forum I think my symptoms are quite manageable so I am grateful that my case is not as extreme as many others although I am still in the active stage so I guess it may worsen.

I will purchase a traction device, continue taking CoQ10 + L-arginine + Acetyl L-Carnitine and aim to improve my general health. I do have IBS so the food I can eat is already quite limiting, I'm not sure how well I can handle an anti-inflammation diet but I will do some more research on this forum on diets.

Any other advice on what I could do would be extremely appreciated. Thank you all for being a part of this community, its such a comfort to have

Hey DizzyDenim,

welcome to the forum. May I ask how you injured yourself? You don't need to go into details, if you don't want to. Just to get a general impression.

I can tell from experience that the not affected side may also suffer long term trauma due to overstretching. This is why your opposite side hurts. You can't do anything against that, except taking the diet and supplements to prevent further scarring. My symptoms started around 3 months in with a bit of curvature and indentation. So that fits.

I didn't develop palpable plaque since 7 or 8 months in. Though I always had some cordlike structures inside, even in my teens. Ultrasound only found a thickened tunica, which may be some kind of scarring or fibrosis. Only calcified plaques will show up brightly in ultrasound. You can take VitaminK to somewhat prevent calcification.

VitaminE does virtually nothing. But it won't hurt either. If you don't have to pay for it, keep taking it. Careful traction is okay. The newer vacuum devices are pretty easy to manage wearing. Your triple supplement combo is what's recommended. Low dose cialis (2.5mg) may further help preventing inflammation.

If it hurts, stopping masturbation and sex is the right way. You may find a point in time where you discover the equilibrium between masturbating and abstaining. If you abstain too long, you may have problems with getting an erection too often, even when unwanted (and restricted by your trousers for example). Be careful in the first year.

Keep an easy mind. Inflammation is heavily moderated by your self perception and state of mind. A lesson I still have to tackle :)

Wishing the best!

Hi Tychy,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I injured myself during intercourse and basically "missed" my target resulting in blunt trauma. However I still maintained my erection and didn't notice the pain till afterwards.

I see thanks for the insight. I do have a cordlike structure also which wasn't there before. I will take Vitamin K to prevent calcification as well. I will also look into low dose Cialis. I certainly think reducing inflammation would be helpful at this stage.

Do you have any experience with traction or vacuum devices? I'm reading through the forum but would be good to hear your experience. Are both better than just one or does it depend more on the symptoms?

Thank you for your words, very encouraging

Same story, different place, I suppose. They should hand out safety instructions when coming of age.

I do have experience with both. It was only after traction that I could start using the VED to full extend. However, I'm skipping traction, as it's not possible atm, but will soon start again. So it did positive physiological changes to the tissues. As I have some indentation I went for the combination. VED was also paid by public healthcare (and should be by NHS afaik).

Currently I'm doing a ESWT treatment, but time will tell the outcome :) Warm always up using hand warmers, washcloth or IR lamp before doing stretching or VED.

DizzyDenim

They really should. The urologist said "that position is actually is the most common cause of penile fractures!" Not much help now really..

I see interesting, my urologist didn't mention VED I only learned of it recently from this forum. Will ask my GP about it as now I've been diagnosed I'm sure he can prescribe it.

Best of luck with the ESWT treatment, hopefully it yields good results! Noted I'll be sure to do so! I have an IR lamp but its quite powerful, are there unsafe wavelengths to use on the penis do you know?

Tychy

Yeah and I never knew minor trauma can lead to this. Do we have a Peyronie's awareness week or something? If not, we should advocate for that.

I'm not really in the loop for NHS, but you should be able to do that. It saves a few hundred pounds.

I'm already seeing improvements, but it may also be because of the camphor against low blood pressure (was diagnosed with hypotension a few days ago).

No, you can only get skin burns if you overdo it. And that will only happen once ;) the glans is a bit more sensitive, so don't go full frontal, but rather approach from the sides. Always keep enough distance and don't look into the light ;)

DizzyDenim

We really should, I'd never heard of it before!

Okay I will look it up, I'm going to try get a traction device next week so could be good to use them again.

Perfect thanks for the tips, I might use it for a short period of time together with the traction device. I imagine that will help the stretch!

Finally what is the general recommended dose of Vitamin K? Seen a lot of people mention it but not a dose. Thank you Tychy you've been a great help!

Tychy

Slow and steady in the beginning. It's easy to overdo stuff when new. Start with 20 minutes of mild traction and increase by 10-20 minutes each day. It should never be painful!

Dosage actually depends on your body weight and metabolism. Ballpark:
1000ug K1
1000ug K2 (MK-4)
200ug K2 (MK-7)
You should be able to find a combined formula. The actual ratios of K1/MK-4/7 are the important thing.
VitK is responsible for integrating calcium in the bones, while VitD will help extract calcium out of the food. If you supplement D you must supplement VitK or you will have excess calcium.

No problem. Tell us any changes!
