Greeting to all!
I am 33 and come from Bulgaria.
I've had 45 degree dorsal curvature since i can remember. It has caused me enough troubles to make me depressed in the recent years.

I found this forum a while back and read many topics about people coping with the same condition which gave me some courage to find a solution.
Last month i went to see dr. Kuehhas in Vienna and after the examination he recommended the STAGE surgery to me.

This Monday i had the surgery in Vienna. I am going to post my experience after the surgery here.

I prepared myself for the surgery, booked a hotel and went to Vienna a day before the surgery. Went on pre op consultation in the evening.
Very important challenge for me was to stop smoking. I used to smoke a pack a day before the surgery but now I am trying to stop.

day 1
Day of the surgery.

Went to the clinic early in the morning. Checking in took hlf an hour.

They took me in the surgery room, gave me the anesthetic and I fell asleep then woke up and that was it.
I was in the special unit monitoring me for 1 hour after surgery.

I was full of pain killers initially so there was no pain but in  while a strong pulsating pain appeared located just where the glans meet the shaft but only on top.
I told the person there that i was in pain and a new iv of painkillers was put in.
At that point i was half awake from all the painkillers but the pain lasted a good 30 min at leas.
After the intensive unit i was taken to my room. The pain was almost gone now and I was visited by dr. Kuehhas. He told me everything went well and just to rest.
They told me when I want to pee call the nurse and not to stand up alone and so i did. Didn't know peeing could be so difficult ... the dressing is literally sewn up to my skin with 3 stitches left, right and top so i can't get my penis below horizontal. On top of that it is spraying all over the place...

Dr. Kuehhas visited me again  in the late afternoon saying that he's going into surgery and that after that he'll check up on me again.
He came after 2 hours checked my penis and decided to put second layer of bandage on top of the firs one. He discharged me afterwards.
I went straight to my hotel took the meds they gave me in the clinic, watched some tv and went to bed.

No cigarettes today, it was not so difficult.

day 2
In the morning something like an erection appeared but it was very weak, i shook it off easily. I was surprised to find out there was very little pain.
I took some more medications in the morning and i mostly stayed in bed.
Post op consultation was in the afternoon, the doctor took the second layer of bandage and checked the glans. He asked me a bunch of questions to make sure i was alright.
My balls were mostly blue/black but that turns out to be normal after the surgery. The glans was starting to swell and becoming more sensitive and painful.
I had to massage it periodically so the swelling can subside.
I smoked a few cigarettes that day. I don't know yet which is the affecting me more, the habit or the nicotine urge.

day 3 consultation
In the early afternoon i was at the doctor's office again. This time the entire dressing went off and so were the stitches.
The removal was painful but mostly on the glans. The doctor even showed me where i can feel the stitches under the skin.
I saw my entire penis for the first time after the surgery. It wasn't as bad as i expected, just bruises.
Putting the new dressing was the most painful thing of all. The doc was stretching my penis by holding it at the glans while wrapping the new dressing... the pain was so nasty.

That was my last consultation because i had a flight to catch. The doc asked me to send him daily pics on the phone until the bandage is removed.
Smoked a few cigarettes that day as well... Tried to limit the number of cigarettes but its so hard. The worst thing is that the more i am in pain the more i want to smoke...

sargus

day 4
I set alarms in 4 hour intervals because i was afraid to be asleep for too long.
First waking up was OK no pain everything was Ok, did some glans massage and fell asleep again.
Woke up again 2 hours later in same condition but then as i was felling asleep again i felt the pain, it woke me up, damn erection.
I didn't expect it. The erection was not big but it was painful. I Tried to stand up and to pinch the glans to make it go away and it worked.
Took the meds, did the massage and that was it

Smoked some cigarettes again... straggling with it.

day 5

Erection in the morning woke me up again.
It was painful again i had to get up and walk around while pinching my glans gently to make it go away.
during the day the pain was not much except the discomfort I feel in the glans. It is swollen and itchy and painful. I still try to massage it ever so often to avoid big swelling.
I was expecting it to be better this day but not yet.
That i smoked more cigarettes than any day after the surgery. I am going to try to do better tomorrow.

day 6
Morning erections happened twice today. The first was very early, and was very unpleasant. The second was later in the morning but still painful.
My glans is still swollen and painful, also peeing is still difficult.
I am still taking pain meds in the morning and evening.

Only 5 cigarettes.

sargus

day 7
This is the worst morning since the surgery.
A painful erection woke me up very early in the morning. I stood up and walked a little to make it go away then i went back to bed.
In less than an hour I was awake again felt a little pain and then i squeezed my pelvic floor because of some urge.... BAD idea. I felt sharp pain in my glans... the erection has returned. Stood up from bed again in a hurry and tried to make it go away as fast as i can.

When erections happen the pain is mostly in the glans area. I feel only a little pain in the shaft of my penis,
I took my meds again this morning and hoped for the best.
The bandage seems to bother me but i don't know if its just me or is it too tight around my glans.
The glans is still swollen and painful even more so than the last few days.

zoli1995

Hey man, I'm happy that the surgery went well. Pain from erections and discomfort is to be expected for the first few weeks, everyone who had the surgery reported this. Hope you will get the desired long term results and that the pain will go away ASAP.

Please keep on reporting your experience, all readers will appreciate it.

sargus

@zoli1995 thanks.

I forgot to mention on the beginning that i was not circumcised.
Before the surgery I asked the dr. Kuehhas if i can keep my foreskin and after examining my penis again he said he'll keep it.
So now i still have my foreskin. but the way the bandage is my glans is exposed and that by itself is making it more irritating.
The glans skin is now a little dried out and hardened but i think it should go away after i remove the bandage.

Last night was maybe the worst since the surgery.
I had pains and itches at the base of the glans during the night so i couldn't sleep well.

Day 8
The morning erection came as usual an woke me up, this time i think it was less painful then before.
Today i feel much better than i did last night. The pain is mostly gone and so it the itching.

I send some pics to the doctor like every morning and he said that it is getting better.

I feel optimistic today  :)

sargus

Day 9

The morning erection visited me twice this morning again  :'( ,the second erection was quite painful. Most of the pain is in the glans and i suspect it is form the tight dressing.
The day is being good so far. Te pain is decreasing generally except the sore glans. My glans is painful and it's skin is dry and still swelling.

@james1947
Thanks man.

Day 10

Things are getting better every day, pain is decreasing every day.
Biggest problem now are the erections (never thought i would say such a thing  :D ) I get several erections in the morning, they are not even close to 50%, but are quite painful especially on the glans. Its painful when the glans rubs in my underwear so i try to ware tight underwear if i go somewhere.
I am taking Androcur, which is suposed to stop my erections, but i guess it doesn't work 100 %.
The meatus is still sore and painful to touch and so is the glans in the area of the frenulum ( which was cut for the degloving )

I just cant wait until day 14 so i can remove my bandage during the day.

agony

Great to know you are healing well..
Educating updates for those who are considering surgery for congenital curvature(like me).
what was your pre-op length..do you feel the erections as straight even though it is not full.
Anxiously waiting for your result.

Day 11
Last night and this morning i feel a lot of nasty itching at the base of the glans just where the bandage ends. Its pretty nasty feeling, like an itch which is almost becoming  a pain. I took another painkiller because of it.
I feel like i want to tear apart the dressing and liberate my penis  :D.
The doctor is messaging me to stay patient just a few more days...
I had erection this morning as usual but this time not so painful.
My erections are not strong, maybe 50-60% or so it seams with the dressing, but my semi erect penis looks straight :) . While the dressing is on i cant be sure, when i get it off then it will be the big reveal :)

@agony
Thanks man!
I am not sure about the size because its complicated :)
My penis was 45 degree dorsal curvature but the curvature was gradual running for almost the entire length, measuring it in a straight line was a bit deceiving.
Note i did not use the so called bone pressed technique of measurement.
When i measure it from the base to the tip in a straight line it was around 15,0 cm. But when i used flexible tape t measure alond the curvature it goes up to 16,5cm. All that is the dorsal part where the curvature is.
Take my measurements with a grain of salt... I'm only human  :D

I don't know what to expect so i say to my self if i end up with 15 cm straight penis i will be happy and anything on top of that is a bonus :)

zoli1995

@sargus

Happy to hear things are getting better. I have a question for you: where did you have the surgery? I recently found out that Dr. Kuehhas is no longer listed on the London International Andrology website. Was it in the DC towers in Wien or some other location.

Thanks and wish you a fast recovery!

UPDATE:

Just found out he opened a private clinic and no longer works with International Andrology. They claim this way Dr. Kuehhas can have a better "relation" with his clients.

sargus

Day 12

Things are getting better slowly. The sensitivity of the glans is decreasing but still  painful on the touch near the frenulum scar. Itching is still here and morning erection still painful.

Day 13

Last night i forgot to take Androcur... I am not sure if it's because of that, but the morning erection was stronger and harder to shake of. The first woke me up early in the morning, the second came after i fell asleep again an hour later. Its a bit harder to shake them of maybe because the trick i with pinching the glans don't work that well because the glans i less painful now. Itching is still there and so is the pain from touching some areas of the glans.
Important lesson, don't forget anti-erection medicine!

@zoli1995
Thanks!

I had the surgery in Privatklinik Währing.
I am finding out about that form you.

sargus

Day 14

Thing are slowly improving. Right now only the glans is painful when it rubs in my underwear harder or when i touch it. The itching is still there.
I had morning erection as usual, but slightly less painful today.

I am getting sick of walking with the dressing under my pants. It's uncomfortable and can be painful on the glans. I am trying to make sure the dressing doesn't shows through the jeans :) It may look like I'm having an erection from the side :D

Tomorrow morning i am taking the dressing off :) I'm hopping everything will be alright under it.
The doctor asked me to send him pics after i remove the dressing tomorrow.

zoli1995

@sargus

Great stuff, I'm happy that things are getting better. I think the pain from the glans is more pronounced because you are uncircumsized and the glans is not used to exposure, rubbing etc...

I have a question, for how long do you have to take the anti erection meds?

Thanks and wish you further rapid healing!

sargus

Day 15
quick update
Just took the dressing off.  :D
Everything looks better than i thought. No bruises but only the skin is dried up and rough.
I managed to pull the foreskin back on my glans and it was quite itchy and uncomfortable at firs but in a few minutes it became fine.
The meatus is still very sensitive and somewhat swollen bit its manageable. There is some pain in the shaft now when it moves freely around but it's not a big deal.
I sent some pics to the Doctor and he said everything is perfect.

I have to take the anti-erection meds for one more week.

I will post and update tonight.

sargus

Midday update.

My penis has swollen a little and became a little reddish, some bruises are showing mostly on the foreskin.  :(
The foreskin is much more sensitive than in the morning, its become quite red in places. Dead skin peeling all over the place.

I messaged Kuehhas and he said the swelling is normal :)

sargus

Night update.

I just made the night dressing.  It was not easy but i made it somehow.
Strangely the shaft of my penis is more painful now than previous days.
Foreskin was irritating throughout the whole day.

I have to do night dressing for 3 weeks. They are supposed to stop the erections.

zoli1995

It could hurt because now the shaft is not so much under pressure and fixed anymore, so there's a bit more movement and perhaps healing going down there. Wish you further good recovery and make sure you report everything to dr. Kuehhas!

I will also go and visit Dr. Kuehhas next month so I am interested in your experience to know what to expect.

sargus

Day 16

This morning i had no erection, i don't know why.
I removed the night dressing and pulled the foreskin in place as per the instructions. My penis is slightly bruised like it was yesterday but the sensitivity of the foreskin seems to be less now.
The shaft is sensitive/painful on the touch for the most part. I can feel some of the stitches through the skin in places but I'm not sure if i found all of them.

I am doing manual stretching just like the Doctor said.
I have to pull my penis 10 times in each axis every time i go to the toilet.

@zoli1995
Thanks!

DanP

great to see progress! be patient sargus. i had surgery with dr franklin in past as well. send him question and update. pain is little problem at beginning, but will become better. step by step. to feel stitches is normal for the first months but they go away. good luck with further recovery!!

Evening update

The pain in the shaft is still there and i noticed that the most pain i get is when there is pressure against the length of the penis. Swelling of the skin is still there but i doesn't bother me.
There was an attempt of erection today but it became painful just as it started so I lost it quickly.

I feel a little bit down these days... some dark thoughts running through my mind. Nothing serious though.
I have read that Androcur can cause depression so i am blaming all on it, just 5 more days of it and then i expect my hormonal levels to go back to normal.

sargus

Day 17

Thing are getting better every day.
The swelling is quite small now. The foreskin sensitivity is almost gone. The only thing than bothers me is that there is still some pain in the shaft.

I messaged Kuehhas about the slight depression I'm experiencing right now. He said its a side effect from Androcur and it will go away when i stop it which is in 4 days.
I think I'm seeing some retraction, but cant be sure until i get a nice erection which is going to happen possibly after i stop the meds next week.

There is not much to write about now so I will post only when something significant happen.

hi sargus
it seems that we all have some sort of a similar background... i was doing some research and found dr kuehhas. he seems to be a good surgeon for congenital penile curvatures. my curvature is bothering me for as long as i can think about it, but i did not have the guts to do something about it, as it involves surgery.
i am thinking about getting in touch with dr k and tackle my problem. one thing that makes me a bit anxious is that i live in canada and i am afraid that follow up will be difficult. i can also not afford to travel back and forth for a quick follow up. how is dr k following up with you sargus? is he accessible when you need him? how do you stay in touch with him?
would you recommend him according to your experience so far?
any update is much appreciated, we are all waiting

sargus

Hi guys,
I am going to have a video meeting with Dr. Kuehhas next week and after it I am going to post a big update.

@michael k.
I know exactly what you mean. It took me a lot of time to muster the courage and the money needed. :)

Here is how it went for me.
I went for initial examination that took 1 hour and then i flew home the same day.
We set the surgery date via email for about a month later.
I went for the surgery the day before and stayed for 3 more days, but you can stay for few more days if you wish.
Now we are going to have 1 month check-up on Skype. I haven't spoken with the doctor for future check-ups but i think the next is 3 or 6 months after the surgery.

michael k. if you have any questions feel free to message me any time.

michael k.

sargus

OK guys this is a big update.

It has been 4 and a half weeks since the surgery.

I had video meeting with Kuehhas today.
First let me say i am healing well. There is no pain unless i press the shaft harder. The foreskin and the glans is just a little bit more sensitive than normal but it's not a problem.

I stopped Androcur a week and a half ago. I've got to tell you that medication is a b1tch.
It was hard to understand how much it affected me until i stopped it. The last week of Androcur I was becoming really depressed. All kind of crazy fears were going across my mind.
On top of the medication i was having some personal matters which worried me for a while. When i look back now I can see i was overly anxious.

Morning erections are coming strong now. I've been using night dressing for 3 weeks now and will for another 2 weeks as per doctors advice. Erections with the dressing are a little painful.
This morning i had the biggest erection ever since the operation, the dressing could barely contain it. :)
Daily erections are happening now.
When i have erections without the bandage it becomes painful very quickly. I try to avoid it as much as possible.

Retraction.
I think i have around 2-3 cm retraction. The problem is i still have not had a 100% erection, because right after i reach 60-70% it becomes too painful.

Phallosan
I started using Phallosan forte two days ago and it is not very comfortable.
The doctor helped me with the use in the video call. Its going to be uncomfortable at the beginning he said.

My concern.
I have noticed that when i have erections during the day my penis is not straight. I can notice a downward curvature of about 10-15 degree. Before the surgery the curvature was pointing up at 45 degree.
I spoke with the doctor about it and he says that it's normal to have curvature at this point because of the retraction and because the erections are still not 100%.
The thing is that I am still a worried. I worry that I'm going to end up with ventral curvature and with bigger length loss.
I try to stay positive and expect the best. I am hoping now that the stretching device will help a lot in the next months.

zoli1995

Hi @sargus,

Very happy to hear that the healing process is going well. I can understand your frustration about retraction and the curve you are seeing, but having read the experience from others and the studies published all of this is normal and all will be well. The penis being retracted means that this is not the latest form it will take up and from what I gatherred, the Phalossan stretching would only speed up theprocess of the "re-retraction".

Also, the downward curve might happen because of gravity and not because of the actual from :)

What is very important is that you stay focused on what the doctor told you to do these months, because the patient participation is also very important in the optimal healing process. This is also what I learned from the other forum members and from the studies.

Either way, it's important that you don't have other complications, such as loss of sensation, hematoma, infections etc...

Stay positive and communicate with the doctor! Ask him any concern you might have.

I have a question for you: how many hours did the doctor recommend you use the Phallosan?

Fastbiker

any updates on how things are healing?

sargus

Hi, guys!

Thanks for the support.  :)

It's been 6 weeks since the surgery now.

The healing is going well. I only have some sensitivity around the degloving scar and on the location of the internal sutures.
The only time I feel a little pain is when I have free elections during the day.
The doctor advised me to use night dressing for a few more days.
The surprising thing is that when I have the night dressing my erections are bigger than when they are free. They are also straight, although the dressing could be responsible for that.
For a few days now when the erections wake me up, I measure my penis and the result is pretty good. I measured 15 cm two days in a row. I think when the dressing is keeping the shaft from expanding it allows it to grow in length and that's why I can see a longer penis.

Free erections are different. Without the dressing, I feel pain after I get to 70% rigid state and that is limiting my results.
Also, free erections are still not straight.
The maximum free erection size I measured today was 14 cm.
I guess the retraction is slowly braking, but I'm still not there yet.

I use phallosan every day for 30-60 min. It's not very comfortable especially because the doctor told me to use it on high tension.
Kuehhas said to get to yellow/red mark on the device. At first, that is quite unpleasant but after 10 min it gets better.
I have to keep increasing the time every day to get to few hours per day.

The concern I had is still here but this time I'm more hopeful.
My penis is still not straight, but I think I've noticed some improvement.
I hope that phallosan and the healing process will bring me straight and nice penis. :)

zoli1995

Hi @sargus,

Great to hear things are improving. Regarding your issue with straightness, I think the fact that with the dressing it can take a fuller form of erection and it also being straight proves that when the penis is 100% erect, it's straight. That's just a quick takeaway. But hold on to the exercises and what the doctor tells you to and continuing to report everything to the doctor is the best you can do.

Hope you will have a full recovery soon and the desired results ASAP!

sargus

@zoli1995

Thanks!

I try to stay positive and do follow the recovery plan as well as I can. Recovery is going well, daily erections are getting stronger. :)
Retraction is breaking and I am using Phallosan as long as I can every day.

Good luck with your visit to the doctor. I hope you keep us updated too.

zoli1995

@sargus

Thanks! I will have the surgery in late September and initial consultation in August, so there's still some time to wait. This period is quite engulfed in anxiety :)

sargus

Hi guys!

8 weeks update.

Things have improved quite a lot in the past two weeks. It seems now I can achieve full erections. During it, I feel slight discomfort around the degloving scar and itching at the stitches.
My free erection just recently reached the 15cm line :). I am not certain if that is the maximum result I will end up with.
I no longer use night dressings and everything is pretty normal.
Sometimes there is some sensitivity on the shaft where the stitches are but it doesn't bother me much. I also masturbated once and surprisingly everything was fine, no pain or discomfort.

I'm using phallosan for at least 2 hours a day now. I think it's helping with the recovery.

The curvature I mentioned previously is still there but I think it's reducing. Visually it seams about 5-10 degree. It's strange because on some days it seems smaller and on others bigger. Hopefully, the stretcher will take care of it soon.
I still haven't had sex, but in I might try in coming weeks. Although, I'm a little nervous and I don't know if I'm 100% ready for it.

zoli1995

That's so great to hear! I hope things will improve to perfection and that that tiny curvature you are experiencing will go away ASAP. Thanks for the updates :) It helps all of us.

DanP

Great to see progress. Do not worry. Recovery is slow but it is working. I know what I say. I have to pass this recovery as well. Soon you will be perfectly happy and you can start new life.

It's been 9 weeks since the surgery.

Things have improved a lot just in the past week.  :)

In the weeks before my penis curvature had varied day to day.
However, this week my penis is standing straight throughout the entire week! I feel happy right now. :)
I've chatted with Kuehhas and sent him pics of my erect penis. He even took the effort to compare the pics I sent with pics he took on the first exam.
This is the best doctor–patient relationship I've experienced in my life and I've had small surgeries several times in my past.

I'm still using phallosan for at least 3 hours a day but aiming to go up to 4+ at least. I'm planning to keep using it at least for another month.
I don't know exactly what to expect from the stretcher besides recovery, but I'll keep using it in case it adds a centimetre or two in length.  :)

There is still some sensitivity around the degloving and frenulum scars. The degloving scar is a little bit strange looking but it's getting better.

Thanks for the support guys!

I'lll keep the updates rolling.

@DanP

You are right. The Device is a nuisance and it can be pretty uncomfortable after few hours but I go with it.

I think the stretching is still giving me some good results with the length, also, it keeps the curvature from reappearing. I am planning to use it for a few more months at least.
One condom sleeve broke already, good thing it comes with spare ones.

I'll make an update once I have the big test  ;)

zoli1995

Hey sargus,

It's been more than a month since you last posted. Any updates?

Thanks!

sargus

Hi guys.

It has been a long time since my last update for which I apologize.
The last few months were an emotional rollercoaster for me, a close person to me have serious health issues that affected me.

Ever since the last update things are going well.
I think my penis is fully recovered from the surgery. But I still feel slight sensitivity at the degloving scar, but it doesn't bother me.
I have full healthy erections and more important I think the last 1-2 months my penis feels more flexible when fully erect than before. The first 5 months my erections were very stiff and my penis wouldn't bend at all the base like before, thankfully this is now gone.
My penis is 16cm when fully erect, which is the best outcome I could've expected from the surgery.
Sex is great, much better than before.

I stopped using Phallosan after the three months of use. It was somewhat a nuisance and I just decided to stop once I completed the minimum required time.

Nonetheless, there is something that worries me a little. When I am fully erect my penis is not 100% straight.
I have measured about 5-degree dorsal curvature, which is nothing by itself but this appeared just in the last 5-6 weeks unlike few months before when my penis was perfectly straight.
It puzzles me the fact that this slight curvature recurrence happened in the 6th-month post op. I am a little afraid that the curvature might return.
I am keeping an eye on it and if things get worse I might have to contact the doctor.

JohnWright

Sargus-- I'm sorry if I missed it, but I did a quick read on your posts and I couldn't locate where you told us what type of sutures or thread the surgeon used on your shaft -- dissolvable or permanent thread?

I have permanent threads installed, myself.

John

kusher

Sargus has 3-0 PDS sutures so it's dissolvable. Sargus if u decide to contact Kuehhas, plz let us know what he says.
Please go to PROFILE then FORUM PROFILE to replace this signature line text with your profile info such as age, date of onset, symptoms, treatments tried, etc

sargus

Before the surgery Kuehhas said the sutures are dissolvable. On the paper he gave me it says that the sutures should dissolve in 6 months. I am thinking they are mostly gone now, I can feel just a few small bumps where the sutures were.

JohnWright

Sargus -- One of the questions I've had is about those dissolving sutures. Are there any that are in line with how your curving is presenting? Some guys are hell bent (in their emotions and mind) about "dissolvable."

I'm not saying that's you, but as a topic for other readers to consider, what were your thoughts going into the surgery? And, what did the surgeon tell you about the effectiveness of those -- in the long term. And, do you understand what the thread was doing in the first place?

I had four sets of two plications installed. That means there were eight knots tied. Today, I can only feel one of the eight -- and my results are holding.

A typical thing on this board is for guys to take one example, of success or failure, and make a mountain out of it. I'm not doing that here -- just discussing with you.

sargus

JohnW, I chose this surgery because of the lesser chances of complication and the experience of the surgeon. We don't have that experienced surgeons for that specific problem where I am from.
I was never obsessed with dissolvable sutures but I preferred them to be honest.
I've never ask Kuehhas about permanent stitches and I am under the impression that STAGE is performed only with dissolvable.

I am just sharing my fears, which could be exaggerated. I sometimes have bad thoughts(dreams) that I wake up only to find my curvature is back the way it was.
Right now I am trying to keep calm and just observe the results.

I've written to Kuehhas my current state and no I am waiting for the reply.

If things remain the way they are now I can say for sure the surgery was a success.

5 degrees is nothing. Please look at healthy penises - it's very rare to find the one without ANY curvature and completely straight like a ruler. Especially a little of dorsal curvature is very common.

I think you shouldn't worry - why not back to Phallosan Forte to keep the results?
