Second grafting/plication procedure after failed first surgery?

Hi all-
I am hesitant to post this update since I do not want to discourage anybody that is considering surgery- and it is always encouraging to read positive results rather than negative.  With that said, in July (eight months ago) I had grafting and partial incision surgery with Dr. Levin to correct a 70-75% upward curve.

The surgery appeared successful at first with maybe only a slight 10-15% bend.  Due to pain I did wait until 5 to 6 weeks after the surgery to start traction using the PeniMaster Pro belt system, which I remained diligent with on a daily basis.  Unfortunately, after approximately 2 months after the surgery the bend quickly came back and I am now pretty much at the exact same point as before the surgery (70-75% bend).  I was told to continue traction, hoping the curve softens in time, but a second surgery would be an option after a year from the first surgery (so July 2017).  I am completely devastated the first surgery was not a success and really do not know if I was not applying enough pressure with the traction or maybe I did not rest enough after the surgery.

Has anyone had a second grafting surgery?  If so, was it successful?  Is the healing process pretty much the same?  I live in the D.C. area and very much up in the air if it is worth going through all this again and having a second very expensive surgery, which once again might not succeed.

Thanks everyone!

It wouldn't hurt to arrange a conversation with Dr Andrew Kramer, U of Maryland in Baltimore.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I, too have a similar timeline and story as you.

I had a 50° left curve. I had Egydio grafting surgery in August 2016 in London, and after 30 days, noticed a 30-35° residual curve. I went back to London Nov 2016 for a follow up, and was offered a Stage plication surgery to correct the resudual curve, which I went back for the procedure on Jan 23rd 2017.

I do not think doctors will do a second grafting surgery, especially so soon after one has been completed. The plication is the way to go according to my surgeon and one other I met with. In my case, my doc said there was too much missing tunica to perform additional grafting.

I have not seen the photos from my second surgery, however I would like to see them. In fact, i will request them from his assistant.

Preliminary results: No noticible difference in size from grafting surgery to plication surgery, so that was good. Healing time, pain, etc, plication is much easier to heal from. Currently, curve is reduced to around 20°. Began Phallosan last week. Wearing 1-3 hours, working up gradually more yime.

Caveat: for the grafting procedure, i am down about 1 in in erect length. Flacid length has not changed from before both procedures. Again, I notice the length loss from procedure one during erections.

Good luck to you. Sorry to hear that your surgery did not work. There are many variables that contribute to those with sucessful surgical outcomes, and failed surgeries.
50 years old, tried 5 rounds of Xiaflex, had Egydio grafting surgery, then Stage sutures for residual curve, then plication in 9/18, now finally I have a straight penis

John W., I never remember coming across Dr. Kramer's name while researching Peyronie's physicians and surgeons.  Although I have confidence in Dr. Levine and don't blame him for whatever went wrong with the surgery/recovery process, it is obviously very difficult to do any type of regular follow-up care living in the D.C. area.

Daved2, thanks for sharing your experience.  I am glad that you are so far pleased with the second procedure.  I had the option of going with either grafting or plication for the first procedure, even with a 70 degree curvature, perhaps I should have selected plication the first time.  I have continued with traction but it does not seem to do any good at all.  I also seem to have a more difficult time maintaining an erection for any length of time than prior to the surgery.  I just keep my fingers crossed a second procedure will work.  Best wishes for a quick recovery!

Markva -- Since you are in DC metro area, Baltimore is obviously a stone's throw away.

Not all research efforts capture all the data -- even on a good day.

Too bad you didn't chat with Kramer. Just sayin'.
