This is my first post, so just saying hello.

I've not had a confirmed diagnosis from a specialist yet, only a verbal consultation and likely diagnosis from my GP.

The only symptom I have as yet is some penile pain with erection and penetration but as a Dupuytren's sufferer for the last 6 or 7 years, I'm quite well read-up on Peyronies and I know there's a strong link between the two conditions.

I'm awaiting a consultation with a specialist but already have a strong suspicion that if it barks and lives in a kennel, it's a dog! :)

Anyway, it's nice to know that if the worst is confirmed then there's some support and advice out there so I'll be having a good read and hopefully contributing in a positive way.

Hi;

Welcome to the club that no guy really wants to be a member of!.. :D

Knowing the NHS, I'm guessing that you could wait ages to get an appointment with a Urologist. And there every chance he'll tell you to 'take some Vit E and 'let's wait and see'  As you've probably suspected, that's exactly what you shouldn't do!

Read the sections on Oral remedies and the use of traction and/or VED, which used  now can help mitigate any worsening of curvature and improve penile health.

Thanks for the welcome and good advice.

Yes, after reading many threads here, already I get the vibe that we have to be very proactive ourselves in trying treatments rather than take the standard advice of medical practitioners.

My GP said, yes you've guessed it, just wait and we'll see what happens before referring me to a urologist. Thankfully I found this site and am in a privileged position to either self pay or use private health insurance to fund urologist consultations.

From reading here, now my biggest problem seems to be finding an open minded one who isn't only interested in surgery.

Hi rinsed, do what you can to read up on supplements and alternative treatments as some will be of benefit I am sure, just be aware that medical professionals are interested in medicines = Money, surgery = Money, you would be very lucky indeed to find professionals that don't go down these routes first, forewarned is forearmed  :)

Rinsed;

You're quite correct in thinking that surgery is the last resort. And, from your description, it sounds as if you're still in the early active phase of the disease.

If your level of curvature is not severe, and you're not sexually incapacitated, then try the treatments suggested.

ALC, citrulline malate ( buy in powder form, it's cheaper and both dissolve easily in water). Ubiquinol. Pentox may also help if you can get a prescription.

Thanks very much. I'm a bit overwhelmed and I'd like some help please.

I've read loads on the forum and must admit I'm in information overload and don't really understand what all the treatments are and at what stage they should be introduced. I don't want to just start taking stuff I don't understand.

To clarify my position fully, I'm a few weeks in to first noticing penile pain with intercourse. Now I'm also getting pain with very hard erections. So far I have no curvature or other shape changes to my penis and can find no lumps or plaques. I do have dupuytrens though so strongly suspect Peyronies as does my family doctor, who suggests waiting, which I don't want to do.

I know I need to find a urologist for a proper diagnosis but do want to find one who is open and supportive of alternative treatments.

In the mean time I'd like to get a proper handle on what the oral treatments are plus get an understanding of the theory behind VED.

Thanks in advance for any pointers

rinsed, Below are supplements that I think have helped me;

Acetyl L-Carnitine 1000-2000mg per day over 2 doses

Ionic Magnesium Chloride, with trace minerals and Fulvic acid

Digestive enzyme blend capsules

Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 Included

I don't want to overload you with supplement advice as I have spent a small fortune on them LOL  :)
