Hey all,

Still haven't shaken this whole thing, it's still at the back of my mind - I've got to stop feeling sorry for myself and go get something done.
Anyhow, I've been reading a few of the threads in the "alternative treatments' section and I've seen some posts about the overall health of penile tissue.
What can actually improve the health of penile tissue and taking it even further - what does the fibrosis of scar tissue actually mean in terms of the health of
my body for instance? It makes sense that years of micro-trauma can contribute to fibrosis but idk I guess I just don't fully understand how if the scar tissue itself
was taken care of, the penis wouldn't just go back to normal.

I'm 17. At this point, I'm just hoping for some sort of medical breakthrough - I'm certain it will come, do you all think so?

Yes, there will be a resolution and solution.  But no one knows when that day will occur.  So the key is to buck ourselves up and keep as mentally and physically fit as possible until that eureka day.  Work on getting better but also work around the problem.
My uneducated guess is that the solution will involve stem cells. Possibly botox.  There is a clinical study currently going on on the latter.

can you or anyone explain how Botox would help?  This seems totally preposterous when I first read it but I will reserve my judgement until I hear the theory.

Don't know how it works.  But if you look at the clinical trials part of NIH (National Institutes for Health), you can see that there is a trial being conducted for botox/peyronies at Baylor in Houston.

The question you're asking is, "what makes a penis healthy." Which is a valid question that we should have answers for by now.
In the most basic sense, you want inflammation out of your penis from overuse, you want healthy veins which comes down to diet and exercise (blood sugar / bad fats are not good), you also want to make sure you don't exhaust your sexual drive so that your erections are high quality.

This is something we should all be looking into, but in the basic sense improve vascular health and watch erection quality.

Neo V you have me nervous.  I am in a new relationships with a gent.  Our sex life is great, really great and our drive is off the charts in love.  He went through the Peyronies Disease hell before I entered his life...the shots, traction and a few painful physical and emotional years of treatment and acceptance besides a healthy lifestyle change.  Luckily for us, esp me, he has a wonderful upward curve of his entire penis, it easily gets hard as rock and he has no issue that I know of with achieving orgasm as he is so in tune with what he needs plus if he needs to stimulate himself at any juncture I love to watch.

He seems to have more than one area of plaque but I haven't asked him yet.  We spoke last night about my being careful and I am...It isn't really a distraction but nothing us are on alert during sex and certain positions esp.  What happens with Peyronies Disease and age?  He is nearing 60 and I am in my late 40's.  What should I expect?  For example will erections become less frequent or hard?  Will the girth and length continue to shrink of can it grow or rejuvenate/rejenerate?  Given his penis function is fine to my knowledge will it change differently than those without Peyronies Disease with age?  What happens if we hurt it a little or a lot accidentally...Will that be the end of it functioning?  Reinjury means what to an existing Peyronies Disease guy?

You have me freaked out with your comments to not overdue his sex drive.  My drive is through the roof and always has been since puberty.   I don't want to hurt his condition or stress him out!  What is this inflammation due to overuse you speak of?

Hi HFB, if he is in the stable phase as it seems he is, more sex is probably better for him so long as he isn't aching or having pain or poor quality erections. Most older guys here think that "use it or lose it" is one of the most important things for penis health. In the acute or active phase, this wasn't the case for me. I had to abstain a lot and let things calm down, but now days I directly see a link between sex and less deformity. I think having it somewhat often is very important! I guess my comment above is mostly targeted at younger guys who masturbate multiple times a day while watching porn. At this point sex is very important for me to have often, and carefully of course.

As long as he feels okay and isn't hurting, it should be fine. I can't answer your question about a guy with Peyronie's vs one without, but I think his penis health shouldn't diminish at a faster rate. Usually the damage comes from particular incidents, and while he may be prone to further injury, he should be fine. Plenty of men in their 60s and older on these forums are having sex and enjoying it without issues. My father has Peyronie's and is doing great at 67. I wouldn't worry too much :) The good news is that he is aware and taking care of it and you are aware of it too.

Think of it like heart health. Every man and woman has to do what they can for their entire life, past incidents or not, to keep it healthy. Sometimes having past issues makes one try harder and actually end up more healthy or functional than someone without. I know a lot of guys who have no idea what Peyronie's is, and they bend their penis during sex and even have nearly snapped it (cringe) multiple times. Knowledge and past issues make one more likely to succeed later if he or she is willing to make any amount of effort.

Many on this forum would be thrilled with this result. I think you are way over thinking this. Neo is correct in thinking of this as like a heart attack. It happened, he had therapy, changed is life style, now all is great. Could it happen again...... sure, but so could a heart attack.

NeoV earlier in this posting you mentioned not exausting the man's sex drive.  Please explain such from a Peyronies Disease and a non Peyronies Disease situation.  I don't own the equipment so no idea...Isn't it capable of becoming erect whenever arroused mentally, self or another?  I sort of understand the "shooting dust" concept and dated a man who we trained to be multi-day including dry orgasms.  Does overuse (number of sessions in a day or successive days with or without orgasm) literally exhaust it and the ability to get n stay hard to have satisfying sex for both partners?  Obviously I understand skin soreness or irritation or vaginal/pelvic fatigue happens to women...Guess I just don't know enough about male sexuality.
