Hi All! been stalking this forum for a long time but i feel it is time to talk about my experience with congenital curvature. (i'm not the greatest with words but i'll try)

So for as long as i have known, my penis was bent. Every since the first erection i had, i had noticed something was weird about my penis. It wasn't until i was in university did i start to look into this on the web. It wasn't until a year and half ago that i got the courage to see a urologist. I live in Toronto, Canada and the best in the area in peyronies/congenital is Dr. Ethan Grober. The referral took around a year to happen but i know i was in good hands when i saw him.

I was really shy and embarrassed about my condition but Dr Grober made me feel comfortable talking about this issue with him. Although the appointment was pretty fast, i know he is knowledgable in his field to diagnose me. He concluded that i had no plaque  around the area so it is definitely congenital. He said that surgery would really be the only option to correct it but he wanted me to try pentoxifylline first for 3 months.
3 months gone by and i didn't see any difference so we discussed about the option of surgery. In my case, he suggested plication using the vertical incision and plicate (yachia technique i later found out).

I wanted to research more before getting myself under the knife. Found great resources here and was more informed about the options out there (a bit shoutout to JohnW's post and his help throughout my decision making process). But as a new graduate, i don't have that expendable money to pay for this surgery elsewhere (thankfully its covered under the Canadian Health Care System). I decided to go with the surgery with him.

We discussed the details of the surgery and we set a date. I'm uncut so a circumcision was also required (i also did not want to risk post-operative complications from the foreskin). I picked December 22nd (the last day the hospital does surgeries before the holiday) to do the surgery. I get 11 days off work so this works out that i shouldn't/hope i don't need more time.

So fast track to today and i arrived at the hospital at 6:30am (my appointment time is 8am). I was greeted by the nurses there and all my vitals were checked...etc; the usual. The anesthesiologist, head nurse and the doctor all came one last time to discuss all the details one last time. Then around 7:45am i was escorted to the operating room where everyone was hooked up to me and the IV drop started. I feel right to sleep.

I woke up feeling pretty dizzy but got back into consciousness pretty fast. Everything was wrapped up and an ice pack was put there. The Dr came back to check up on my and he said everything looks straight. Follow up will be in the new year. I was given pain meds and antibiotics and was ready to be discharged. Now i'm back at home laying in bed and going to rest up. i'll try to update when i can

Happy Holiday guys and wish me luck on recovery!

Good luck to you Jonathan and a Merry Christmas to you.
I hope all goes well for your recovery and that you end up happy with the results of your surgery.

Congenital curves are very common and unless severe (presume yours was) there is nothing to be embarrassed about as they can be useful for hitting the G spot  :)

Jonathan -- This is great news. Glad you have some time off for good measure.

I'm just at the six month post-surgery mark tomorrow! Sailing right along. Honestly, still getting used to the new me. hehe

Cheering you on!

32hrs post op:

No pain or discomfort and no pain meds taken so far. Just had first bowel movement post surgery thanks to a high fibre diet consisting of lots of oatmeal, whole wheat bread, fruits and veggies.
Tip of the penis and base (both not wrapped by the tight bandage) is swollen. No pain when urinating though.

Kept in bed the entire time with brief moments of walking around the house. Didn't sleep too well cause around an hour or so into each nap i could feel an erection starting. I can feel the base of the penis starting to swell but thanks to the tight bandage the upper part isn't budging. I'm thankful that everything is working.

The tight bandage will come off tomorrow. That's when i'm concerned about full blown erections...
(i already discussed with my Dr that i get erections really frequently but he said no medication is required to prevent them).

Thanks for the encouraging words and for anyone else who have gone through this and have posted in this forum. You've really paved the way for others to have the courage to go through with this!

Hey... Fellow Canadian here, and I was at his office on April this year for a consultation because of a Penile fracture. Took me several attempts to contact his staff, and then I found out that the consultation was not on mount Sinai but on this ''women's hospital'' somewhere downtown Toronto close to Yonge, if I am not mistaken. He did listen... For like 5 minutes, and then wanted to jump right onto a physical examination, after I told him I just wanted to talk, has I had been examined 14 times before and there was nothing he was going to see. I even told him I went to California and had an ultrasound by a doctor he also knows (Dr Irwin Goldstein) and that I knew what I had and what my values where in terms of bloodflow following my penile fracture and the erectile dysfunction that came with it.

He didn't seem to care much and after 15 minutes, not even he was out the door since ''there was nothing he could recommend or do for me''. All in all I waited around 3 months and it was a complete waste of time.

I wish you have a good outcome and above all else don't have any sexual activity for the recommended time if you don't want trouble.

I would not recommened this doctor because of his lack of empathy and caring, but we are all different. Best of luck!

Hi pfract! sorry to hear about the negative experience you had with Dr. Grober. Dr. Grober does work out of both facilities and i've seen him in both hospitals. Women's college hospital is where he situates himself for surgery so perhaps you got booked a time when he was in between surgery. I completely understand your concerns regarding Dr Grober but i sort of see why doctors might not want to just listen to everything before they've got a chance to diagnose the issue themselves. I feel that with all the info you give from other specialists, the doctor's judgement can be biased to what the other specialists are saying. And the last thing you want is for a doctor to just say what you want to hear. Of course i don't know your situation so i can't be the one to judge but he definitely listened to my concerns and really cared for me as a patient. He's a fantastic surgeon and that's what he specializes in. So when looking to go through with this surgery, i felt that I was in good hands and i stand by his decisions that he made on me.

Merry christmas all! just another update. So the bandages came off saturday and i was expecting a horror show down there but to my surprise it looked pretty good there. I'm uncut so a circumcision was required and the incision looked really neat, tidy and close to the head. Different not seeing my foreskin there but the results is pretty good. The rest of the day was pretty normal but i did start to feel a little bit more of the stitches there. Popped a pain med before bed and slept through the night.

Christmas day and was applying polysporin to the incision area when i got a little too excited. Tried to calm myself down but from the looks of what i got, everything is looking straight. Was able to calm down before hitting a full blown erection. Wasn't too painful so far and manageable without pain meds.

Have a great holiday

Hi All, just a quick update so far. Everything is healing up nicely and the incision wound should be closed up. Had a bit morning boner this morning and caught a glimpse of the product. So i went from an almost 55-60 degree curve to now a straight dick with a slight angle (stress the angle part and not a curve) of about 10-15 degree. I'm so happy with the results so far. I read that its suppose to get better as it heals so fingers crossed on that. Post operative care is almost over (in term of antibiotic, placing the penis pointing towards my stomach...etc). Excited to see how things heal up. No sexual activity for the next 5 weeks just to be safe.

Sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up... hehe
