Some of you you know my story. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be having surgery with Dr. Kuehhas on September 13. Even though the price is prohibitively high (9500 euros), I'd rather have the surgery with the best. My penis is worth it :-) Will keep you updated about everything.

FriskyDingo

Might be joining you in a year. Good luck bro

A very short update: Had surgery with Dr. Kuehhas this morning. First of all, I'm very happy that it's over :-) No pain so far, but I'm still on pain meds I guess... will keep you posted.

Take it easy! You'll be feeling the effects of the anasthetic for a while yet.

Do as Franklin tells you and all should be well.

Dros,

Ive been where you are now. I had my surgery on August 4th. Recovery is slow at first. Once you make it through the first couple of weeks, your life will be back to normal, with the exception of your sex life, which will be on hold for a while. I am over 5 weeks post-op, and I do not see any sex in my near future. I am still working on getting a full erection. Hopefully, you will have even better results than me.
50 years old, tried 5 rounds of Xiaflex, had Egydio grafting surgery, then Stage sutures for residual curve, then plication in 9/18, now finally I have a straight penis

Day 1: Still at the clinic (private clinic Waehring in Vienna) where I spent the night. So far, zero pain(!!), and I couldn't tell that I had surgery yesterday. Dr. Kühhas will check in with me shortly, after which I will be discharged. Will stay in Vienna until Friday to make sure that everything is coming along nicely. Because of the calcification, a pericard (bovine tissue) graft had to be used (instead of something else, I forgot the name, which Dr. Kühhas would have preferred). This has no effect on the end result, but the graft will take longer to be absorbed by my body, and one will be able to feel it for approx 6 months, if I understood correctly.

Dros,

Thank you for sharing your experience.

The other type of graft, which was used in my surgery is called TachoSil. TachoSil is a topical fibrin sealant patch consisting of human fibrinogen and human thrombin coated onto an equine collagen sponge.

Good luck with your recovery!

Thanks daved. You are correct, the other option would have been TachoSil

I can only repeat that recovery from this, and I mean recovery as in back to normal, is months, not weeks.

Yes, it's just about feasible to have sex after six or eight weeks, but I wouldn't recommend it. It will not feel anywhere near the same.

Maintaining an erection is a problem I had too, that seems to have mostly gone now. After nine months I still have a tiny bit of residual tenderness around the incision line and I'm still down 1.1.5cm on size. But, I'm still persevering with the Phallosan, so here's hoping it comes back.

Whichever way, better a slightly smaller functional dick than a bigger bent and twisted one!

Day 5: I'm back at home and I'm mostly happy with how smoothly and non-invasive everything went. The biggest surprise for me was when Dr. Kuehhas took off the bandages for the first time, and there was almost no bruising (much less than after my one round of xiaflex). Pain was virtually non-existent until yesterday, when my glans started hurting. I guess it's a good sign because it feels like sensations in my glans have already completely returned. But without the protection of my foreskin (which I kept, but which is still under the bandages) my glans has gotten very sore and hyper-sensitive. Since I had Peyronie's coupled with a small congenital curvature (which Dr Kühhas fixed as well with a few STAGE incisions) I have to continue wearing the bandages for a while longer (at least until wednesday), so I have to figure out how to best protect my glans. Also, urination is kind of uncomfortable because the bandages are very tight, but nothing too bad.

On a side note, I just heard from the insurance that they won't pay a single dollar :-( this means that I spent around 15k on this disease in total...

Pfract

ouch!!!! 15k is a lot of money dude.... keep it up!

james1947

Yes, 15K is ouch!!!!, but if Dros got back his penis, worth every cent :)
Wish you fast recovery Dros and happy future

Day 8: This morning, Dr. Kühhas allowed me to take off the bandages for the first time. At first things didn't look that bad, but during the day I developed a huge lymphoedema (the size of a golfball), which was quite frustrating and somewhat frightening (even though it didn't hurt). The Dr. advised me to press on the swelling until it disappears, but during the day I didn't succeed. This evening Frankin Kühhas actually sent me a voice message and a video from his car, showing me exactly how to do it. The help from him really is outstanding and second to none. So just now I was able to pull back my foreskin over my glans for the first time since the operation! awesome!!

I still have two to three weeks of testosterone blocker and nightly bandages ahead of me, so I wasn't able to test out the functionality of my new dick, but so far so good! :-)

Dros

ArtDude, your story is very enjoyable as well! all the best to you :-)

pdrury

hey dros
i agree with what you said, franklin is a great physician, i have never seen anybody staying in touch with his patients like he does. i had surgery with him in london a couple of weeks ago and since then we chat daily... his advice is priceless!
when i first met him i thought about xiaflex, but didn't go ahead with it, because franklin told me that it would only reduce my curvature and that it wouldn't straighten my dick completely... so far i am very happy with the recovery and the support i have received.

Pfract

Glad to hear Franklin was there for you Dros! Awesome! Stay calm!!

ArtDude

Thanks Dros. And best of luck to your recovery. You'll see that you'll get happier and happier every day, those "minor" recovery complications here and there will stay in the past, and I am positive you won't regret your choice. Have a great day :)

Day 17: Haven't posted an update in a while. This is mostly due to the fact that everything is going quite smoothly. The swelling has disappeared completely, I'm almost completely pain free and during the day I hardly remember that I had surgery. I stopped taking Androcur (Testosterone blocker) a couple days ago, but because of my additinal stage sutures, I'm still putting my dick in a bandage during night and I'm not yet taking Cialis.

The only thing that worries me a little bit is that I had a couple semi-erections during the last couple days, and near the under (= near the penis root) end of my graft, my dick is still somewhat dented, resulting in a slight, but very noticeable curvature to the left. Has anyone else experienced this kind of residual curvature after surgery?

daved2

Dros,

I am right there with you, the dent on rhe left side, with a left curve. I am about 55 days post op. I, too have a left congenital curve, and had grafting surgery with Franklin. How did you decide on the Stage sutures? Now, that I am having the left curve, i was thinking some Stage sutures would correct it. I am traveling to London in november for a follow up. Franklin said he will do whatever it takes to make it straight. In the meantime, i am using Phallosan and Male Edge , and just starting another 30 days of Cialis 5 mg. My dick is still retracted, and i am down in errect length by an inch to an inch and a half, and more narrow. I can  live with the reduction in length until it rebounds, but the residual curve has got to be corrected. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one in this situation. I love Franklin. He is an awesome guy and would do anything he can to help guys like us. What are your thoughts on your situation?

Dros;

I remember that I leant to the left after my surgery. I was not curved, but it did definitely lean to the left.

Whether it made any difference or not, I don't know, but I just wore the Phallosan more on the opposite side. Whichever way, I'm completely straight now.

Dros

Hey daved

The stage sutures were not planned actually, according to Franklin, he decided to do them after he noticed during surgery that the graft alone did not straighten out my penis completely (because I, too, had a slight congenital curvature).

I guess I have to wait and see, I'm only 18 days post OP, and Franklin told me that the residual curvature may very well disappear once I start with the Phallosan... We'll see, I definitely want a straight dick, but I'm not sure that I would opt for another operation if the curvature is less than 20 degrees or so. I really just want to be able to date again  :P

daved2

Thanks for sharing. I wish you the best in your recovery. Let me know if your curve goes away with the use of traction

Day 32: So, here we are after 32 days. Haven't posted in a while because recovery is a very slow process and not much has changed. However, since I started with the Cialis and the Phallosan I have some new data point, namely full erections:

At the moment I'm down around 2.5cm in length, and erections are still a little uncomfortable (but not painful). When fully erect I'm actually almost straight (maybe 5-10 degrees), but I have a very pronounced hourglassing (or, rather, my penis doesn't fill up in two spaces right and left from the top, near the base). Not sure where that comes from and whether I will get rid of it, but I'm still near the beginning of the road, so we'll see... (btw: has anyone else had a similar post-surgery situation?)

I'm definitely at least a couple weeks away from even contemplating having sex (maybe even months, which sucks), but I am very confident that I will be able to have sex just like before this thing started. Even if the hourglassing remains (which I hope that it doesn't of course).

Jonbinspain

Dros;

Have you contacted Franklin about this hourglassing effect?  If not, do.

Traction and manual stretching are going to be important in getting back as much of your length as possible. I'm still using the Phallosan after 10 months. I'm still down max 1cm maybe .75, but I'll keep stretching and hope I'll get as much possible back.

If not, at least I have a straight, usable dick.

I also found that 15 mins daily of VED helped me get pretty much all my girth back too.
