hey
i have a congenital curve of about 45 degrees which means no penetration for me
i went to a surgeon who said my best option is the classic nesbit procedure and not the plication which is weird because all i read online is that the classic nesbit(where some of the tunica in the longer side is removed rather than just crimped with the stitches) is outdated and useless and has only downsides when compared to the plication
he said that in a high-degree congenital curve a plication just wont give me a good result like the regular nesbit and stitches might actually fail if he wont remove the excess tunica
im pretty confused and will probably seek a second opinion but until then id like to here a few of your opinions

Gargamel -

a) I'm sorry you're here.
b) I'm also concerned about your post. I suggest you proceed slowly, and get informed before you decide anything.
c) The Nesbit procedure and plications are the same thing. If you'd read the educational resources on this Forum, or spent anytime looking at the bounty of information available on the Internet, you would know this.
d) That you don't know this is all the more reason to proceed slowly. It's your penis and no one will care for it as you do. There are a number of male sexual health specialists on the planet, which is what you need. There are plenty of plain 'ol urologist butchers out there eager to gain experience with your dick as the guinea pig. Be careful.
e) I had a 50 degree congenital curve and just had the Nesbit procedure, aka plications, on June 24, 2016. A male sexual health specialist did my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I would do it again tomorrow if needed. My Diary of the experience so far is shared at this link:  https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/board,47.0.html

Proceed slowly.

Regards,

John

well i am very well read on the subject and you are just wrong there
in the nesbit the plicated tunica is removed,in the "new" plication surgery its merely crimped together with the stitches without any removal of tunica
they are not exactly the same thing, they are two variations on the same surgical technique

a)   here's is a description of the Nesbit plication from an authoritative medical source. Plications are one approach,  tissue removal is another. Many men, myself included, have Nesbit procedure with just plications, no tissue removal. Nesbit plication - Mayo Clinic

b) the three male sexual health surgeons I've spoken with leading up to my own surgery all do Nesbit surgery -- with plications and no tissue removal (related to Peyronies or congenital curve). Just like the article above, they freely interchange Nesbit procedure and dot plication appellations in their conversation.

There is also a grafting procedure but that was not appealing to me.

c) a plication is a truck or cynching of tissue, nothing more,  and not done to prepare the very same tissue for removal.

Hope that's helpful.

My broader thought and motive for encouraging you was that my experience with Nesbit plications has been wonderful, my curve was 50 degrees.  And the conversation you conveyed with your uro does not align with anything I have read, or heard from the three surgeons I spoke with (Seattle, Baltimore, and Orange, California).

Thus, I hope you will proceed slowly.

Gargamel;

More modern techniques try to avoid excision, where possible. It greatly reduces the risk of post op ED.

I obviously don't know your financial situation, but I would check out the Stage technique before making any decisions re surgery. Dr Kuehhas is well versed in this technique and operates both in London and Vienna. Or Dr Egydio in Brazil, if you feel like a more exotic location.

Whichever offered that involves non absorbable stitches should be avoid as they produce diffuse fibrosis and lead to impotence. At the same time, the less scarring the better is...so you should go for the procedure that makes poor scarring, and that's not Nesbit.

Nesbit is a crime that has been killed more people than it cured. My life ended in the moment I underwent that procedure.
31 yrs old
Severe congenital curvature. 3 straightening surgeries
Big lump/stitch w/ left deviation after 2012 surgery
Severe ED after last one in 2014. Still crooked
Slightly improved w/ shockwave therapy
Looks like only one side of my penis works

Every procedure has pros and cons. It is a personal decision that each must make. I'm sorry that plication/Nesbit didn't work for you. But it has worked well for others.

And yes plication and Nesbit refer to the same thing. Plication is the generic term used to describe the procedure while Nesbit is the name of a specific procedure.
