What Caused My Peyronie's Disease

I have been visiting this website for about twice a year now for 3 years, never registered and thought it would be useful to start posting. It's awkward posting about it but the more information out there, the better.

I am in my early twenties and first noticed a curvature when I was 14. At the time I wasn't fussed because it wasn't that much of a problem. But it did become a problem. Because of it, I had low confidence and self esteem then depression. My penis was about 160 or 150 degrees. Now fast forward to present, it's pretty bad. I won't lie. It's probably 110 degrees, very close to 90 degrees. It has started to seriously affect my sex life.

So what caused it? When I use to self pleasure I didn't stroke in a straight manner. In fact I never completely stroked it from base to tip. I self pleasured by grabbing the upper half of my penis also putting pressure on it, stroking the upper half. Unknowingly not knowing the harm I was doing, I continued to do it because it felt good. The curvature of my penis is where my thumb is placed when I self pleasure (where a large portion of force is applied, I also apply slight force with fingers from the other side pushing towards my body). As it developed and got worst, intercourse with a female was off the table, because of that masturbating became more frequent causing more harm.

Extra information may be relevant or irrelevant: I had and still have a lot more testosterone than the average male. I also hit puberty hard. I mean like growing to over 6 ft when I was 15 and started growing a beard.

Our masturbation habits can cause or make Peyronie's worse, but there is a genetic factor that is quite strong. It's like blaming yourself for elbow tendinitis for doing the bench press wrong all your life. While you may have been doing it sub-optimal, I promise a lot of guys did what you did and don't have pain.

I altered the way I have sex and masturbate and it's made a big difference. Try not masturbating often and when you do, make sure your very hard, pelvic floor relaxed, and gentle with your hand. I recommend your take a week break and avoid all porn and edging until then. When you do masturbate, take your time so your natural penis shape can really fill out and stretch the damaged areas. Focus on hardness and sustaining that hard ess rather than just going wild. It's not your fault man, but you can learn from it!

Are you sure it is Peyronies?

Is it possible you always had this? I can't remember before the age of 14 :-)

I have posted extensively in the XiaFlex category.  I never read "peyronies causes" because my doctor told me masterbating doesn't cause it.  Well, now I know that it does.  After two years of treatments I was pretty close to straight, with one small scar tissue remaining.  Not having much of a relationship with my wife, feeling better about my improvement, and my doctor insisting masterbation doesn't cause it I slipped back into frequenty, hard-pumping masterbating.  And guess what?  I caused another peyronies scar, damn it!  Looking back to 2012 when I developed the first scar it is clear now that was also as a result of similar, frequent, hard masterbation.  I had no idea back then this was the cause so I continued masterbating the same way which is likely why the scar grew larger and the curve worse.  When I discovered this scar, now closer to the base I was horrified.  After putting two-and-two together and realizing the common thread between the two scars was hard, frequent masterbation I confronted my doctor with my "hypothesis" and he agreed aggressive masterbation could cause it.  However he was quick to point out he has patients who never masterbate and they get Peyronies too.  I stopped masterbating long and hard, and now only do it infrequently and very lightly.  I limit strokes largely to the head....just enough to get off.  This scar hasn't grown like the last one, and I have already had a Xia Flex shot in it so I am not sure what has arrested its growth.  Also, this one thankfully isn't causing curvature (yet) like the last one.  In summary I am probably put back by an entire year in treatments but at least I now know the cause and can eliminate it.
