Hi Guys,

I am 53. I first noticed a lump the last week of October. Then I started to notice my penis was bent while erect (dorsel). I got online and figured out what was up. Then I started freaking of course. I found this site and it helped me immensely. I started taking the usual supplements, and they really seemed to help with the pain (which was constant for a while). My erections were pretty painful too, and seemed to wake me at night a lot. I managed to get in to see Dr Levine in mid december, and he was great. He did the ultrasound and also the boner shot and measured my curve at 20 degree bend with a dent on either side (though I think it measured less than actually because it wasn't that erect.) He put me on some enzymes and pentox. I also took some of the other supplements mentioned on here that weren't included in what he gave me. Also found out I had low t (gave me med for that too). Not really sure how I did it because my wife and I hadn't had sex in a year at that point (she doesn't like me). But Dr L said there was some kind of micro trauma that took place just the same or I wouldn't have it. He had me order the US PHysiomed which I have used about 6 hours a days for about 6 months. I didn't have problems with getting erections so no viagra. The traction increased my erect and flaccid lengths and improved stability a little, but hasn't really done much for the curve or the dents. It did make things seem more healthy, and more stable as well. I saw Levine's PA in March and then him again earlier this month. He seemed to think I should call it good, but I would like to see some improvement with the curve and dents before I just stop trying. Plaque also. My curve seems to range from 15 to 25. I was thinking about trying VED. I asked Dr Levine and he isn't a big fan of it, and uses an analogy about getting braces on your teeth (traction) vs. just trying to bend them back into place (VED). I have read here that it helps dents and will elongate the curve, but I have a couple questions: Does it also help with stability if/when it fills them in? Does one need VED if they can get good natural erections (does it do the same thing)?

Last thing,I want to thank you all for all the info and support you put into this site. It gave me hope and accurate information that was really hard to find elsewhere. Also, I want to apologize for staying in the shadows so long. Should have introduced myself long ago.

Hello -L

Im glad that you joined the forum and Im glad that we were able to help you even before you joined. As you have read Dr Levine comes very highly recommended so you have chosen well.

Traction vs VED that is more of a preference call among the members, I would read the boards on Traction and VED to get an idea of how others feel on each therapy.I believe there are members that use both but again I believe it is a preference decision.

You are among a good group of people here please ask questions we are all happy to help.

Lester;

As Stabler 67 has said, there are advocates of both. VED forces fresh, oxygen rich, arterial blood into the penis. Some claim that it has reduced or gotten rid of Peyronies dents. I still use one a few times a week to maintain overall penile health. Which the oxygen rich blood helps to do.

I know it's difficult in your current marital situation to do this, but if you can still penetrate and have sex, a curvature of around 20 degrees is not too bad.

I would suggest that you keep going with the traction. Keep taking what Dr Levine prescribed you etc. Watch out, though, for any new plaques or worsening of your existing condition.

Lester;

By the way, what were these enzymes that Dr Levine prescribed you?.

Jonbinspain,

Sorry for slow response. I had to dig the info out as once I ran out of the product I just bought the individual supplements. It is a product called Stronvivo. It is available online in several places. Taken 2 times day provides following supplemental value (whole day, not per dosage):
L-Arginine 2000 mg
L-Citrulline 1000mg
L-Carnitine 1000mg
Magnesium (from 400 mg magnesium citrate) 64mg
Zinc (from 30 mg zinc sulphate) 10.5 mg

So pretty much most of the same things recommended here.

Hey Guys. I saw my uro (Dr Levine) about a week ago and have an update on my status. It's been about a year since the onset of my symptoms. I first saw Levine in mid December of last year. Since then I've been taking the usual supplements (actually those since November) and also doing traction ( end of December).

He performed an ultrasound and induced an erection. He said that the plaque seems maybe a little smaller. He said that there is a fleck of calcification. He said that there's a misconception about calcification of the plaque. It's something you generally either get or you don't. He said that some people have calcified plaques at two or three months. Other people they never get them. My Bend is 22 degrees (dorsal). When I was first there it was 20 degrees. I asked him if traction will still help me. He said that it might if I continued to place additional spacers adding length to the traction device. I began using VED back around the end of August. I told him about that. He's not a fan of that, but I'm going to continue to do it as there seems to be a lot of stories on this site that it is helpful. I also have dents where my plaque is, and people have been saying on the Forum that the VED will help with that. He took me off of pentoxifylline, and also told me I should stop taking the supplements. It really kind of seems like where I'm at is good enough as far as he's concerned.

So, I guess the good news is that it didn't really get worse. And the dents are little better. The bad news is that I'm not ready to call that good enough.

Does anyone here have experience with the curve getting better with traction after 10 months or more? Also what things have people used a year into symptoms that have helped to continue Improvement?
