Hi all,
I visited my urologist yesterday and was told I have Peyronie's disease. The reason for my visit was actually for urinary tract irritation, which doesn't seem to be caused by bacteria or chlamydia/gonorrhea.

I had noticed what felt like a painless bump (kind of like a cartilage bump, which I've gotten on my hand before) on the underside of my penis a few months back, and so thought it was worth mentioning. There's also a spot that is sore when pressed and is where it hurts most when I do urinate. The doctor wasn't clear if that area was Peyronie's or not. He did say any Peyronie's shouldn't be linked to my urinary tract inflammation.

I have no curvature of my penis (it does stick up at an angle, but always has), nor has it changed visibly at all. My penis has felt a bit sore sometimes over the past few months. With the recent injury, should I expect any curvature to develop over the next several months? Or does it generally occur near the beginning?

There was one possible event I can think of that could have caused trauma. I did have sex a few months ago and was losing my erection. I did feel some strain from that, and so I wonder if that could've sparked it.

I should mention, I am fairly young - in my 20s. My doctor honestly didn't say much, other than that it could take a year or even up to three years for the current injury to heal, and prescribed me Pentoxifylline.

Hoping to learn more about Peyronie's here, and see what I can best do to treat it.

(Just noticed the post with the questionnaire. Here are my answers below:)

Age?   26
What did your medical doctor conclude?  During an exam for urinary irritation, I pointed out a bump I'd noticed. He immediately concluded it was Peyronie's
How long have you had symptoms?  I have had some penile soreness over the past few months.
What are your symptoms?  None, no curvature yet. Just some soreness, but it's not that bad.
What treatments have you tried and what were the results?  I was just prescribed Pentoxifylline
Do you have insurance or means to get medical treatment?  I have insurance.
where are you in dealing with the psychological aspects of Peyronies Disease?  A bit freaked out at the moment.
Are you in a relationship?  No, dating, but not currently in a relationship.

Thanks,

Hey man, and welcome!

I'm from Bellingham WA, and spent most of my life there and in Japan. When I was 26 things were terrible with Peyronie's. I think 24 to 27 were the worst, but I had some symptoms as early as 17 or 18. Curvature may indeed develop over time after an injury, and I have to say that even a mild strain can causes severe issues in men who are prone to the disease. I was only bent slightly, and I had no pain in missionary position. The next day things started changed and gradually ended up quite dented. You can even get Peyronie's from oral sex, yet nobody warns about that! I developed a new dent towards the tip of my penis two years ago and it may have been due to a girl trying to deep throat me, a pretty dangerous thing depending on the natural curve of your penis and angle.

Which urologist did you see? I'm baffled! I was never able to get pentox, nor did any urologist understand that it would take up to three years to "heal." I will argue, and many here will, that it will never truly heal back to your original state, but it will get pretty damn close.

You really need an ultrasound to know what that bump is. In the meantime I recommend resting your penis and encouraging nocturnal erections. I do this by not watching porn, not doing much with my penis except for maybe once a week. Personally traction helped me the most, and I would even recommend it if you don't have much of a curve yet. You have to be careful however. For now I would treat it like any other injury, and let it heal. Inflammation can stay trapped in your penis for months or even years if you keep aggravating it. If I could start over and go back to after the injury, I would probably do as I said above. Daily traction, very little sexual activity. When you do masturbate or have sex, take your time with it and make sure your penis is completely filled out. This is crucial. Do not masturbate with a less than 100% erection. Take 30 minutes to an hour if you have to and focus on hardness. Your penis needs to fill out the injured areas and give those areas blood. This is important when you have deformity as well, since it slowly remodels your penis. Anyway, welcome!
