Hey everyone,

I am uncertain of what is wrong with my penis right now, and was hoping that some of you could give me some advice. I'll start by telling my story up until now.

So about 3.5 months ago, I started to feel a small cord inside of penis on the bottom left side. It didn't hurt at all and over the next couple weeks it became more pronounced. Also during these weeks, a slightly sore cord developed from the base of my penis to the tip. Both these cords are palpable to the touch. Soon after these, I developed two circumferential bumps on the right side of my penis that were sore at first, but the pain went away. The bumps are visible when looking at the penis when flaccid (disappears when erect). These bumps are parallel and run about a fourth of the way around on the right side of my penis.

At first, I didn't have any symptoms besides some pretty bad erections sometimes, but could still get it to a normal erection most of the time. I freaked out because I knew something was wrong with the cords and bad erections sometimes, so I went to a urologist and he told me I had peyronies. I also have a congenital curve so I think he jumped to assume rather quick, but I believed him and he put me on pentox/arginine. I was pretty unsure of the diagnosis so I saw several other doctors who just blew me off about it and said it was probably nothing (I'm only 21 years old).

Soon after all the onset symptoms, I noticed some more pronounced symptoms. These are a loss of girth at the base (about .2 inches) as well as semi erect hour glassing (in the point where I have the two parallel bumps) and a much more narrow flaccid that is hard some of the time. The narrowing in flaccid is also at the point of the two circumferential bumps.

After being blown off, I decided to see Dr. Levine in Chicago. He preformed a penile Doppler (flaccid and erect) and said he couldn't see anything at all and that my blood flow was great. I showed him the visible parallel bumps and mentioned the other things and he said they were probably just some irritated veins and that it would go away.

Since then, my symptoms seem to be getting worse and I'm clueless as to whats going on and whether I may still have peyronies or what it could be. Its driving me crazy. I really want to get things back to normal. Considering that these bumps are palpable and visible, yet don't show up on a Doppler as scarring makes me think (and hope) that it isn't scar tissue.

My questions for you guys are:

1) Does a Doppler always show scarring (even if its small)? Has anyone who has Peyronie's every had a Doppler turn out nothing?
2) I have no curve, only a loss of girth at the base and semi erect hour glassing.. is it possible that I still have peyronies?
3) What else can cause a loss of girth and hourglass like this?
4) Are there any other tests to check for scarring?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have been a nervous wreck for the past 3 months.

Thanks,
Conrad

Also, is narrowing of the flaccid penis a symptom of peyronies? Or is the penis typically normal flaccid and the symptoms are more noticeable when erect?

Conrad,

The hour glassing is pretty much a dead giveaway that you likely have peyronies. With that said, you need to have a high resolution ultrasound done to confirm. The UROs that blew you are clearly aren't knowledgeable in this area. Also, you would be wise to find a specialist in peyronies.

Thanks for the response quackattack. I saw Dr. Levine in Chicago who is a leading specialist on the issue, and he performed the doppler ultrasound and said there was no scarring and everything looked fine. I plan on getting an MRI in a short time and I also plan on seeing a vascular surgeon so he can assess the problem. I believe what I have (and hope) that it may just be some messed up veins causing some trouble and hopefully no scar tissue.

I feel like whats going on may or may not be from peyronies. It seems like it meets some of the usual symptoms with hourglassing/narrowing when fully erect, but sometimes my penis will reach almost full (<.1 inches less girth at restriction) pre-condition erect size every once in a while. It seems like with peyronies once its lost, its lost, but I could be wrong on that.

Does anyone out there ever occasionally return to their pre-peyronies size?

From a girth standpoint, I think it is easier to get that back. However, I am not sure how much you will get back in length, especially after a surgery, which is what everybody tries to avoid. VED and traction are helpful in both areas and Dr. Levine is a proponent of both. I can't think of anyone better than to see in the USA than Levine.

I have had surgery using The Egydio Technique.

Of course surgery should be considered as a last resort. However it can be successful, given a good surgeon. A top surgeon also greatly reduces the risk of damage to the all important neuro-vascular bundle.

My surgery was six months ago now. I'm pretty much healed, just a little residual tenderness around the head, where the incision was made. Size wise I'm still down about 1/2-3/4 of an inch roughly. I am continuing to use the traction and wil probably give it another six months. Hopefully, in that time I will regain most of the lost length back. But, if I end up 1/2 inch down to have a straight, usable penis, I'll take that.

I'm in the same boat. I have visible change in form while erect and it looks like my penis had "dents" or irregularities in it, but the doctors keep telling me that there is no visible scarring found on the doppler ultrasound. This crap drives me insane because I KNOW my penis and there's definitely something thst changed after jelqing/vacuum usage, not to mention the pain I had in the last couple years. This sucks but st least I'm not the only one it seems. Maybe dopplers aren't as flawless as they should be or something... it's just all too weird.
Age: 25
Date of onset: 17
Symptoms: sharp pains, numbness, change in shape/size, hourglassing and discolaration from jelqing/VED usage as a teen. Diagnosed with a venous leak and possible scarring.
Treatments tried: cialis, pentox and VED didnt help

Doppler only shows old scars(plaque). Newer scars don't show up. That's what my uro told me. My scar also didn't show up on the doppler but it's there for sure.
