Hey Guy's, I a 49 years old in average health, a bit over weight and with some high blood pressure but non smoker. About 10 months ago was trying to have intercourse and it did not go well, it was floppy and couldn't get hard just put it down to lack of sleep due to being a shift worker. Next time the same issue, in trying to masturbate i noticed my penis was bent up and there was a dent on both sides on the shaft and it would fold in half, this caused some distress. It appeared to have come out of the blue and couldn't remember injuring my penis. I was driving to work one night and there was a radio show on Mens health and talking about this thing call Peyronie's of which i have never heard of.

Made a appointment with my Doc ( of who I have been seeing for 25 years) he has never heard of it, so sends my off to a Urologist who tells me yes it is Peyronie's. Gives me a script for Trentel and a pamphlet for Penile Implant and see you in 6 months. Well I pooed my pants gone from not a issue with my penis to getting a implant.

I started a to do some research and found a Doc in Brisbane who specializes in Peyronies. He did a Duplex Ultrasound and found the blood flow on my right OK but not as good as it should be and the left is very poor. Large plague near the base with a 90 deg bend up with a hourglass. I have always good mental health but this has been the most depressing, shattering thing i have dealt with. The options give to me were is a grafting after the plague is remover at which time he recommended doing a implant or try Xiaflex 6 treatments at $1500 each but may need more.

I was keen on the Xiaflex and started working a second job to raise the funds (medical insur dont cover)but not sure if it will be successful given the amount of curvature (90deg) and the hourglass. With nothing to loss i started traction and after 2 months I think there is some improvment in the reduction curvature and hourglass which is giving me some hope. I have start get night erections again but still no morning wood and with able 50 mg of Viagra a not bad erection. My plan is to stick with the traction for at least 6 months and see how it goes as those other option will always be there and more time to see if Xiaflex is a good option

Thanks for your time and keep up the good work, Robert

Hi and welcome.

Xiaflex is an option, albeit not a guaranteed fix for your problem. It's very expensive and may or may not work. I was also told that IF it worked, the best result I could expect was a 30% improvement. As I had a severe curvature too that didn't sound worth the expense.

You don't say if there is calcification of the plaque. If there is, and judging by the way you're being recommended for implant, it sounds as if there might be. It also sounds as if they suspect venous leakage. I would check the latter point with your Urologist. Are you sure that this problem has only recently arisen?

Excision and graft surgery is a possibility, but does carry a risk of post-op ED. If surgery is finally the route you take, I would strongly recommend you take a look at The Egydio Technique.

Right now, keep taking the Trental (Pentoxifylline) ask for some low dose Cialis too. I would also suggest that you take a look at both traction and VED therapy. You can read about these on this site.
But check with your Uro if they found any venous leakage.
