How hopeful are you that a good non-surgical treatment will be around in 10yrs?

I myself am not too hopeful, but Im not a very hopeful person anyway. I know there are treatments out there, but they dont work well for most of us, and surgery is something that I'd rather not do. I'd say theres around a 20% chance of a proper treatment being around in 10 years, but im just some guy on the internet so don't be swayed my my opinion alone. Maybe stem cells or stuff of that nature will be the answer, instead of topical creams and what not? I think I've had Peyronies Disease since I was 8, so I've kinda got used to life with it. It would be great to have a normal penis though!

The thing that really bothers me is the noticeable change in girth at the top 1/3rd of my penis, and the decreases in girth all over. My Peyronies Disease was induced by injury which left me with internal scar tissue that Peyronies Disease sufferes all have, and external scars on the skin on my penis that are ugly. If my Peyronies Disease could be sorted out, my curvature being reduced and my size increased to its original, then I'd be able to enjoy a traditional sex life and whatnot, as many of you would too! I am often in pain when erect, so thats as bothersome as the changes in size. Sometimes I experience flaccid pain which imo is much worse than erection pain. The pain for me isnt so bad overall, but its still uncomfortable and find it hard to ignore, especially when my Peyronies Disease seems to be 'flaring up'. My ideal treatment would solve these things mentioned above.

How likely do you think it is that we will have a good treatment in the next 10 years?
If we dont have one in 10 years, how long do you think we will have to wait until one comes out?
What symptoms of Peyronies Disease would you most like to be cured of, and how likely do you think it is that the worst symptoms of Peyronies Disease will be curable?

Very difficult to answer your question except if someone is a fortune teller :)
Some people got angry on me because I wrote that in my opinion we are far from a breakthrough, but it is just my opinion. I am not a doctor and everything I know about Peyronies I learned on the forum and from some other readings :)
We all hope that it will be tomorrow morning, I will be happy to be proved as wrong, very wrong.
By the way, are you doing/done some treatment?
Did you checkout the Xiaflex board?

Hello James. No im not doing any treatments right now, but im going to see a Urol later on this month. I've seen Xiaflex but seeing as im 21 Im not sure i wanna do Xiaflex cause it can go very wrong. I'd rather wait and see. Thankfully I've never been a sex maniac, and I probably have a lower sex drive than most women and men.

I was thinking that the cure may come from research into other diseases and conditions. I think scar tissue forms on the heart when people have a heart attack? Surely many millions are being spent into these types of things, so I wouldnt be surprised if we ended up getting some sort of cross-over.

EWRA,  I am an optimist and am hopeful we will know a lot more 10 yrs from now and many people will  be able to see 80-90% improvements if not close to 100% improvements if treated early on.   Unfortunately I don't believe the protocols and strategies will come from your traditional MD.  I think it will be people like us and alternative practitioners who are experimenting with alternative treatments and collaborating on forums like this.

I hope I am dead wrong and in the next year or two your Uro will have a great solution. But I think that is near impossible with the current system which is mostly focused on drug development to manage symptoms and not totally cure a problem.

Dont give up and keep trying.

I hope so too  ;)

It'd be nice if we could get some treatment for those in later stages. Most of us on here are in the chronic stage already!
