I think the Forum may well be about stats as well as opinions and new data.

From a stats point of view, I have now reached the 6 month point of taking both Ubiquinol and Acetyl-L-Carnitine. I believe both the Papers published on these two supplements ran their studies over 6 months.

I take the same dose as in the Papers : Ubiquinol 100mg, 3 x day and Acetyl-L-Carnitine 1000mg, 2 x day. Both by very high-end supplement manufacturers.

I am in the Acute phase and so far these supplements have made zero difference to anything

The big problem with this is of course that you don't know what situation you would be in if you'd not taken anything. Maybe the same position and they have achieved nothing, or maybe it would have progressed further and faster without them.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

I seemed to notice worsening after I stopped both supplements, but I can't say much more. I know some other members who report the same thing, but this can't exactly be proven.

During my acute phase nothing seemed to help as the disease continued to change for nearly a year. Later things slowly improved while I was taking supplements, doing traction, and a few other things.

ALCAR has a single study on it for Peyronie's which wasn't designed too well. The CoQ10 study was published by a urologist who has retracted six urology papers, so the case for either is not too good. That being said, the biological effect as demonstrated in other papers on both supplements makes them worth taking if you ask me. Both have positive effects on vascular health and reduce Tgf-beta.

I think following the studies we have is important, but in all likeliness consuming any antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, or nitric oxide boosting supplement could help Peyronie's, maybe even more than ALCAR and CoQ10. But maybe not..

They're definitely in the can't hurt, might help category.

skunkworks - yes, you're right, I guess that is a possibility and that 'no change' could certainly be interpreted as beneficial in the context of Peyronies Disease. I would say that I tend to have the same opinion as 'steveo' though. In terms of Peyronies Disease the 'disease' which develops and gets worse, both for unknown reasons and Peyronies Disease the 'condition', the result of a major traumatic event.

I fall into the last category and tend to lean towards that being the reason my symptoms came on very quickly and have been the same for the last 8 months  We're all speculating though I guess.

Neo -  I agree. Ultimately those are the reasons I took it in the first place. I'm not saying it's a waste of time and I myself won't be stopping taking it, just in case ...... and what happens if there is a positive synergy of some kind with Pentox, Cialis, Magnesium and VED   :)

goodluck

There are a number of people on here who believe that ALCAR has helped with pain.

Anecdotal, sure! IT may not work for everyone but it sure helped me.

ALCAR does work for pain, it's well documented to do this and also helps nerves regrow or heal from damage.

It's certainly a good thing to take, among many others.
