Does the traction actually work?

I have yet to hear anyone claim they were 100% cured from their Peyronie's, but I started googling and apparently the straightening devices help unbend the curve over time? Even some scientific articles claim to help (Penile traction therapy and Peyronie's disease: a state of art review of the current literature)

I am a total newbie on this, since I've had my Peyronie's for almost 7 years and all of the urologists never mentioned this. One even said not to mess with my penis at all.

I am assuming that there are urologists out there that recommend traction devices or can provide them?

I want to try these devices out before my current urologist injects me with botox I think. But that might happen sooner than I want.

Also, sidenote. I've been meaning to ask on this website: I have like a permanently inflamed meatus or urethra from when I got my Peyronie's I think. Does anyone think that traction devices can cure this? Or is it not related?

rodolfodelatorre

How do people know what device to buy online? All of the websites look like scams to be honest.

NeoV

I greatly reduced my curve, hinge effect, and hour glassing by stretching my penis with my hands. A device isn't even needed, so scam or not, you just need something that works. Of course some fit better or are easier than others.

The studies on traction are great. There are risks just like with VED so be very careful.

I have used x4 lab and the outcome was more than satisfactory . With approx 2-3 months of 4-6 hrs daily usage has helped me regain my length and girth . Reduce the curve and improved the hanging etc.
My recommendation is to use traction device for better results .

Rod,
If my URO suggested Botox to me, I would run and run fast, but this just me.  If you live within a reasonable drive of Chicago, Dr. Levine is man and is a huge proponent of traction. The link below is on the forum and can guide you to UROs that treat peyronies. I will say that I have been using the Size Genetics traction device since mid October and I have gained about 3/4" in the flaccid length and about a 1/2" in girth. More importantly I haven't lost any erect length since initially finding out I had peyronies. I lost about 1" in my erect length before traction. So, I am happy that I haven't lost more. My erections are much stronger since starting traction. Overall, I would say it is worth it. My URO was all for it, but he said that most people don't comply and use it so sparingly that it provides no help. He said it you get 4 hours or more in a day it will benefit with oral or injection meds especially.

Holy hell dudes. I got injected with some sort of medicine that is supposed to eliminate the scar tissue (similar to chemotherapy I was told). I just got injected yesterday for the first time and am supposed to have 5 more sessions. My dick is sore as hell where the scar is. I was told to bend my erect penis away from the curvature. But it seems to be doing that by itself.

Anyway, I also talked to my uro about vacuum devices (Which he recommended by himself before I mentioned anything), and he gave me a business card for a place that can give me the device for like 200 bucks. I aim to buy it ASAP, but I'm a student and don't work so it'll take a while.

The medicine that was injected caused flu like symptoms right after I was injected, and all day today (The day after), but I feel fine now.

I'm wondering now how effective this medicine stuff is. I've been told it helps some guys, but additionally with the vacuum thing, I should see a change in SOMETHING, compared to the nothing I've had for the past 7 years.

Thanks for the replies. Feel free to PM me with anything.

rodolfodelatorre,

Sounds like you went to San Diego to Gr. Goldstein for interferon injections, judging from your description and checking out your profile.
There are VERY few reports from members here regarding interferon, but it's the only injectable substance I know of that gives you flu like symptoms. Please stick around and tell us your results. A study I read on it looked promising. Just note that it is not a standard or common treatment.

No need to spend 200 bucks. You can get the Augusta single cylinder for 60 - 80 off amazon or elsewhere.

rodolfodelatorre

Yes, that doctor sounds about right (There's one more guy that assists me).

The medicine went by a name that I can't remember right now, but I asked about it and it's supposed to stimulate your immune system with regards to the area it's injected in which explains the flu like symptoms. First I had to have my penis numbed with lidocaine (Two painless injections on either side of the shaft), and then once my penis was numb the medicine was injected which so far seems to have made the scar weaker and more bendable by just a little bit. Except there's a lot of pain and soreness I still feel. I have no idea what is to follow from this.

I'll keep this place updated on the following injections and how I feel. I think it might be too early to tell.

rodolfodelatorre

Where can I find the Augusta single cylinder? I looked online and couldn't find anything.

Could you link me?

Jonbinspain

I would use both, with the emphasis on the traction. Studies have shown that traction must be applied for at least 4 hours daily - 6 hours being optimum, for it to have any noticeable effect.

The traction applies a gentle but consistent pressure on the penile tissue. It also causes the blood vessels to expand, hence many experiencing firmer erections after its use.

VED is useful, used carefully!, for overall penile health. It introduces fresh, oxygen rich arterial blood. The vacuum should not be held for more than 20-30 secs max. The idea is to keep reintroducing the fresh supply of blood.

PeetyPeet

Just out of interest, if traction involves a length-way stretching motion, how does it cause blood vessels to expand?

NeoV

Traction has always given me the best erections. I remember some amazing moments after long sessions stretching downwards.

Jonbinspain

Simply, traction elongates and strengthens the blood vessels, causing firmer erections.

QuackAttack

Traction is helpful. I have noticed significantly more firm erections and NTEs which I hadn't seen since I was in my 30s. As for Peyronies, I have been doing traction for almost 5 months. At the ~4 month point I finally got to see the URO and he said that my plaque was not calcified per the ultrasound. I had a curvature of about 52-55 degrees in early October and today my curve is about 45 degrees, which is a 13% reduction. The good is it has reduced and no calcification; the bad is it's still 45 degrees. The moral of the story is nothing is quick about solving this issue.  For years I would ask God for patience because I am not a patient person. Well, be careful what you pray for because you may get it because if nothing else, this condition will force you to be patient.

MoatazKad

it seems like the 3 months/4 months mark is where things start to improve

Update on the penis medication sessions:

It seems like the scar is lessened. I had to have 6 injections and each time I got symptoms of the flu the day of and the day after, and some bruising sometimes.

At first I didn't think anything of it, but at around the 3rd session I started fearing the needle. I'm so glad it's over. I meet with my urologist in June I think to discuss any additional injections.

My Peyronie's case is very minor. I got mine while masturbating, and the bend is hardly noticeable, but I cannot perform sex well without it hurting, and I can't masturbate without it hurting either.

I was told to buy the penis pump and take Vit E and pentoxifilline, but I've only had enough for the medication (I'm a student).

QuackAttack

Rod,

I don't want to get you dejected, but I found 4 months of pentox to be a complete bust. All I got from pentox was a headache. Since I haven't been on it for the past two weeks, no headaches. My URO gave me a VED and I have been using that. He also gave me a VIBERECT X3 because he wants me to get as much blood flow as possible. If my wife wanted it every day, I would do that, but that doesn't happen, so this was a give away from the manufacture that he is trying with his ED and peyronies patients.

Truth be told, any answer you get is going to be guess work. All I really know is that it does improve erection quality for me very quickly. If I take some time off from traction, a few days after I start back up I notice strong erections. Not sure why, didn't expect it to, had never heard of it having that effect before, so no placebo happening there.

And it appears it has the same effect for others.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

Review of current treatment options by Levine and Sherer]

Pfract

Judging by what he is describing, he didn't seem to go to Dr Goldstein. He definitely did not propose traction, nor Pentox for peyronies, and I was there and asked about it. But yes, he does those injections?

Penile traction therapy for Peyronie's disease-what's the evidence? - PubMed - NCBI

I just found this recent article about traction. I think it's just a review paper rather than any new research but I was interested to read that "continuous extension of the fibrous plaque causes significant increases in collagenase and metalloproteinases, and, ultimately, to fibrous plaque softening and extension".

Would you be kind enough to give some details on your method of stretching?

I have it written in a post in Accounts of Improvement. I use an overhand grip with just my pointer finger and thumb and pull my flaccid penis out and slightly down. I don't get a good effect unless I pull it downward. Sitting in a chair leaned back or leaning forward on the edge of the chair works best. I pull it down and to each side, sometimes from behind my leg to pull it almost under my body and behind me. This gives me an immediate reduction in deformity, almost shockingly so. It got rid of my main problem area and now it's slowly removing my new dent which is towards the tip of my penis.

It can be discouraging since the immediate results are so amazing, then later in the day you check and see that it's back to being bent, but if you keep it up, the temporary results end up being permanent. It's like pulling on a rubber band, which reacts by shrinking back to its original state. Over time the rubber band will become stretched out. Be gentle and focus on angle and duration, not tension.

Traction must have increased my flaccid length by a third, and erect length by a few cm, since the largest I measured was post Peyronie's oddly enough. The real thing that stands out is my flaccid length increase and the increase in elasticity. I still keep getting results so I plan on starting a new regimen, maybe this time I can document it.

NeoV,

How long do you hold it? Number of repetitions? Times per day? Maybe in your previous explanation? Could you post a link to that? I'd seen some of your previous posts about it but couldn't find the actual post.

Thanks!

Neo this is gonna be odd as hell but as you are one of the very few that has surpassed this condition and know how F^@$!ng destructive it can be may i ask you to please show us  in a video how is it made?, i started manual stretching by watching your posts and im a big beliver it works, it worked better for me before as plaque wasnt as hard but you got years before starting so im putting my faith in it
btw im a big fan of yours, i just remember in my dark hours you have gone trough all this and not only survived but even gain a cm lol
thats crazy dude

NeoV

I really appreciate your kind words, and sorry about the late reply. I was wondering how to do a video without actually filming myself, but I cant imagine an alternative. I'm very glad it's been helping you! It keeps helping me and I became distressed over a new bend a while back and even that one is smoothing out slowly. Keep me updated on how it goes, I'd love to hear about it. I'm avoiding masturbation and porn and doing manual traction daily once again.

CharlesT

YES traction works.  It's working for me!!  A mere 10 days of 6-8 hour sessions and I see a big improvement in the straightening of the shaft. The head is still bent up and I still have a dent but it's only been ten days and I've seen major improvement!!!  Also, my penis when flaccid had been shrinking.  I lost inches soft in addition to erect.  But NOW?  Flaccid I'm back to normal!!!  In ten days!!!! (Flaccid sometimes reverts to shrinking for an hour or so, but mostly my regular soft stance has returned!!!  After having shrunk to embarrassing stature.

Somebody above mentioned he thought traction looked like a scam.  Maybe that's why I was reluctant to use traction.  That and the fact my doctor and urologist never recommended traction.  They flat out said there's no cure.

So after over 4 years I figured I had nothing to lose.  I bought a traction device and am ecstatic!!!  How is it my doctor and urologist completely dropped the ball?  How is it that I know more than they do!!!!???  So do YOU if you use traction.

I'm loving life right now.  Ten days and I have major results and great hope this curse is going to be eliminated!!!

rodolfodelatorre

Thank you all for your replies.

I'm still trying to find a way to buy the traction device in the first place, since I just got out of school and am looking for jobs, but it's all I can think about basically with regards to my Peyronie's.

Does anyone know of a good traction device that isn't crazy expensive? Or if I could rent one somewhere? I'm in the San Diego region

rodolfodelatorre

Is SizeGenetics any good? It looks like it's the best one to increase size, although I don't know if that means it will unbend the penis the most.

Any recommendations of which one to buy, and where (Amazon, online, etc.)?

thank you

QuackAttack

Rodo,

I have a Sizegenetics and a Phallosan Forte, so I can speak to both. The Sizegenetics provides a much better stretch than the Phallosan Forte. However, the Phallosan Forte is without question much more comfortable to wear, no slipping out of straps, no strangulation of the glands, etc. Knowing what I know now, my choice would be the Penimaster Pro. The PMP takes advantage of the rod style traction of the Sizegenetics and it also takes advantage of the glands suction attachment. From a comfort standpoint, I would be hard pressed to recommend any rod traction device. From a stretch standpoint, I would be hard pressed to recommend the Phallosan Forte. With that said, traction has increased my erection strength as has VED. I think you will get the best of both worlds with the PMP.

Kahuna31

I have just finished 6 injections of the new Xiaflex along with VED and now going to start a traction program.  I'm looking for advise on which you feel is the better one to use and why.  What type of  results were achieved?
Thanks for the help in advance as I know many of you have gone through the same problems
Let's all help each other

Lester7

The positive results mentioned here are mostly about erection strength and increased length. Are there any more positive traction stories in terms of improvement with dents or degree of bend?

NeoV

Traction smoothed out my curve and removed my main dents. After getting a new sent a year and a half ago I began traction and smoothed it out as well. This is primarily why I consider it so useful Leebee.
