All,

I would like to know if pain is an absolute with Peyronies.  To date, I haven't had any pain with or without an erection, so I feel very fortunate and I am hopeful that I don't get any pain after hearing how many people are experiencing pain.  I am about 4 1/2 - 5 months into this since noticing a curvature in August. Is there a point at which pain comes on?  As far as what I am doing, I have been heaping things on as I come across stuff and for the last 2 1/2 - 3 weeks I have been doing acupuncture and taking Mag Cit in addition to SG Extender and other supplements.  I measured my curvature today and it would appear that my curve has gone from 50 degrees to 45 degrees with a less abrupt deviation.

I have heard of spontaneous correction of Peyronies Disease and I am wondering if there is an association of spontaneous correction with a lack of pain. Thoughts???

Hi QuackAttack,

I am pretty new to this forum myself, so I'm not an expert. However, I think the general consensus around here is that pretty much nothing is absolute with Peyronie's.

I believe I could have had the condition since last year (although I'm not entirely sure) and have just started experiencing pain in the past 2 weeks. Hopefully, the fact that your curve is regressing is a good sign though! I've not actually been able to start treatment yet (although I hope to soon), but I am going to start the most recommended oral treatments like pentox and CoQ10. While you might be very lucky and have spontaneous correction, it is rare. I think you would be best continuing with treatment, maybe adding pentox and other oral treatments if you feel comfortable with that. You might correct naturally, and I hope you do, but it's best not to take any chances.

Good luck, I am sure you will get through this!

Considering what Peyronie's actually is...fibrosis interfering with Tunica expansion...pain may or may not be a factor.  Your best bet is to aggressively treat NOW to avoid it...but caution whenever doing a physical thing such as traction or VED.

I think there are as many variations to this as there are sufferers...or close to it.

I would be curious where you heard this. I have been studying Peyronies Disease for almost 10 years and have never come across anyone or a case where it spontaneously corrected.

Les,

Here is something. Not sure it is what I saw first, but it indicates spontaneous correction, all be it in young guys. So, I am holding out optimistically even though I am not a kid any longer.

Perhaps "spontaneous" is a misnomer.  Those who have been blessed with spontaneous remission may actually have an external factor...such as improved magnesium in their diet or other...that are not known.  These are all anecdotal, as there are not "controls".

I often come across people on the forum saying spontaneous  resolution is very rare. How true is this. Surely if it was so rare urologists would be more inclined to not ti take the wait and see approach!!

Pfract

Lol..  You probably haven't been to much doctors because of this. Also, I fractured my penis and the approach was "wait and see". I now have moderate ed, with size loss, scar tissue, bands around my penis, and more curvature. Go figure, huh?

Jonbinspain

Irish worried;

The reason so many Urologists take the wait & see approach is because, believe it or not, many of them are Peyronies unaware. They're far more used to dealing with prostate problems and stuff like that. It's why we advocate seeking a Peyronies specialist and why there's a list of them on the site.

Spontaneous resolution of Peyronies figures are vague. But I would venture no higher than 15% and that's probably an overestimate. So, your odds of it doing so are not good!

That is the problem with this disease is the lack of data. We don't know how many men 'spontaneously' correct because we don't even know how many men have this. Some theorize that more men (>10%) have Peyronies but never go to doctor to seek treatment. If I woke up one morning with a curved erection, and then a week later was straight again I would thank my lucky stars and "I hope that never happens again".

There are probably others who also get a curve which is not disabling, and therefore do nothing.  The fact that western "society" takes such a "taboo" approach to anything having to do with sex is just part of the problem with getting good data here.
