Pycnogenol and L Citrulline Malate
« on: November 30, 2015, 07:22:50 AM »

Sorry, don't remember the topic and can't find it.
Someone posted that 50 mg Pycnogenol and 750 mg L Citrulline Malate give him strong erection.
Finally I got both and trying the combination over one week already. No any effect. :(
Maybe I remember wrong the combination or maybe like everything with Peyronies what helps one is not sure will help an other :(
If somebody have an input, please

For me Pycnogenol had the strongest effect of any non prescription substance. But as a natural extract, the brand matters quite a lot probably. Never used it with Citrulline Malate or arginine.

I didn't have much luck with Pycnogenol. I've not tried L-Citrulline Malate, however I've found L-arginine and High Strength Pomegranate pills work well together. Yes, I think the brand plays an important part. I'm growing a little suspicious of 'Swanson' - I've noticed no benefits from their Acetyl L Carnitine and interestingly, it was their Pycnogenol that I tried.

The dosage is a bit low on both of those James.

I would take 2 grams of citrulline twice a day and at least 100 mg of pycogenol.
I took 250 mg when I used it and am using 250 mg of grape seed extract now (same effect)

Thanks for the answers

I will start taking L Citrulline Malate 750 mg twice a day and increase after one week to 1,500 twice a day
Will start taking 50 mg Pycnogenol twice a day.
I just got my supply of both from my sister in the US, Swanson brand. She told me it is a good brand, but I really don't know.
Unfortunately, they stop the last shipment she sent me at the customs and I had to sign a paper that I will not import anymore not allowed supplement and drugs but they release me the pack. Maybe it was because I am a foreigner and they don't like us too much in the far east. I will tel my sister to send next time to my wife. ;D She is not a foreigner  ;D
Can't find them here locally where I am living. :(

Yes, I had  similar experiences the first time I ordered Cialis when  I lived in Japan. I wasn't denied the shipment, but they would always open the package before it was delivered by an embarrassed postman.

Swanson is certainly a very well known brand. They have overall positive reviews on the web, although I noticed that some customers have raised concerns about dose consistency from one tablet to the next. In my case, perhaps it's just that ALC has little benefit on corporal fibrosis:-\ .

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Hi James,

It's been a couple of months, I just wondered how things were going with the L-Citruline and Pycnogenol?

I had some swelling problems of my legs and told it was from the L-Citrulline and/or Pycnogenol so I stopped for a month.
It was not. I had used salt excessively all my life, reduced drastically the salt and the swelling gone.
Started again two weeks ago 50 mg Pycnogenol and 750 mg L-Citrulline Malate, no results yet.
Will double the quantity this week and will see if will have some results.

If diet provides enough of the components for proper nitric oxide production and protection, then supplementing with those two things may not do anything. Age is also a factor. My guess is if your diet is on point, then you wont see any effect. I took a high dose citrulline malate for a while before peyronie's, and I noticed it increased my endurance and extended how long I could workout when doing heavy compound exercises (such as deadlifts).

I use the gym too, regularly. I'm not a weightlifter, more a weight trainer. However, no doubt a combo of Citrulline & ALC, usually mixed with a spoonful of Taurine too, gives an extra boost to your workouts.

James let me clarify again,

Citrulline should be taken at around 2 grams, twice per day, and Pycogenol should be taken at 150mg twice per day. This is from my experience however, but I believe studies back up this dosage at least on Citrulline, since some people take an upwards of 10 grams for athletic purposes (a lot).

The biggest issue I have with Citrulline powder is that it's so acidic my teeth ache. It's the same as malic acid so it burns and damages the teeth. Even using a straw doesn't seem to help much, so go for capsules if possible.

Thanks NeoV

I am using capsules. The reason I am increasing slowly is that I have allergies to many things so I have to be careful.
I am now on 100 mg Pycnogenol and 1500 mg LCM.
The reason I started both is that someone reported on the forum good erections with 50 mg Pycnogenol and 750 mg LCM. I was thinking it will help me too in the small dose but it not.

Small update

Increased the intake 5 days ago to:
Morning 50 mg Pycnogenol & 750 mg L-Citrulline Malate
Night 50 mg Pycnogenol & 750 mg L-Citrulline Malate & 25 mg Viagra
In the last two nights and 3 mornings I had a few erections. Not too strong, but I had not night or morning erections for very long time.
Hope will continue like that, I am planning in two days to increase to 3*50 mg Pycnogenol and 3*750 mg L-Citrulline Malate per day.

Interested in results James. I just started taking 750mg pine bark extract (virtually same thing as pycnogenol). I may pick up citrulline malate again and take a super high dose with the pine bark and see what happens.

FriskyDingo

First I have to say that I started this ED 'treatment" because some member posted in the past that 50 mg Pycnogenol with 750 mg L-Citrulline Malate gives him better erections than 100 mg Viagra.
Regarding my experiment, I am three days already on 3*50 mg Pycnogenol and 3*750 mg LCM.
No improvement yet, but it can be because my health now.
Will update if have something new

I have been taking a high dose of pine bark (which is essential pycnogenol) at 750mg daily for a few days now and I think this high dose is making me sleep weird. It seems that its hard to fall asleep but once I am asleep im out cold. I have been getting really hard erections at night with this. I am going to drop down to 150-250mg to see if that improves the sleep symptoms.

Sorry Dingo, I should have warned you. I wouldn't go above 300mg since it really makes you tired!
I eventually got used to 240mg, but I wouldn't take too much more.

Lol NeoV, it so weird. Its like my eyes are tired but my body is refreshed. Its not unbearable, but I understand the need for a lower dosage. It does seem very effective. Like I said I do believe it is helping with erection quality.

Since you have tried both Grape Seed Extract and Pine Bark Extract, in your experience, do they both have noticeable positive effects. Are they in the same way? Does one effect the penis more than the other?

In regards to the enzymes, are you still feeling like they are making you sleep less? I will be resuming them after my MRI on Tuesday, and I'm going to work on finding an effective dose that does cause the changes in sleep quality.

I'm not entirely sure how the two differ, the information on the two is scarce.

I felt that pine bark helped my erections the most. James I'm sorry to hear that, I think almost all NO raising supplements, regardless of their mechanism of action, get down regulated heavily by the body. I tend to require a lot of citrulline. Some men take up to 10 grams for exercise purposes by the way. It also depends on the timing as well. Before bed might be a good choice, or right before sex.

Again, usually I require a lot of citrulline to see the effect. 750 x 3 seems like it should do it, but I guess not always.

James, are you still taking daily viagra? I find that daily l-arginine doesn't do much on it's own however it does increase the effects of the cialis i'm taking. I wouldn't replace one with the other.

I have been taking 50mg pine bark extract (chinese species) a day over the last week and saw immediate improvements. Nocturnal erections were stronger and I always woke up with an erection.

Two days ago I switched over to 100mg of pine bark extract of a Mediterranean species called Pinus Pinaster. I am a little sketched out by stuff coming from China, so thats why I switched. If you are taking Pycnogenol then I wouldnt worry about a Chinese source, as Pycnogenol is extracted from a French pine bark.

Anyways, at the 100mg dose I saw more improvements. Better nightly erections, and I was even getting erections during the day. In fact, I felt horny for the first time today in a long time. I have been careful not to add any other supplements right now, so I am confident the pine bark is working for me. I plan to move up to 150-200mg over the next few weeks, then begin to incorporate citrulline malate and some other things.

I did notice some side effects, but they arent bad. After beginning the pine bark, I noticed increased reddening near a previous injection site that use to be painful. Over a course of a few days, the reddening seemed to disperse farther away from the injection sites, and has mostly subsided. I also noticed some very small, superficial red marks at random places on my dick. They weren't painful, and also went away in a few days. Lastly, I have been having super intense and clear dreams, some of which were lucid. I always have dreams I can remember, but never this vivid. There were times I was dreaming and I was conscious that I was dreaming, and I felt that I could almost manipulate my surroundings.

Fun stuff.

James, I believe Swanson is a reputable brand. Their pycnogenol is sourced from the same company as all pycnogenol, as it is a trademarked product.

James, pretty sure you can go ahead and use these as long as they have been stored normally (cupboard, dry and relatively cool surroundings) and still in original bottle/s, potency could be down a 'little'.  :)

Be careful that pycnogenol doesn't interact with aspirin, not sure  :-\

Started yesterday with morning 750 mg L-Citrulline Malate Complex, 50 mg Pycnogenol and 25 mg Viagra (I am taking every second day)
I got a lasting erection that didn't had for a long time, even with 50 or 100 mg Viagra. Luckily I was able to use this erection 8)
Hope things will go forward this way :)

Amazing man.  Might try viagara. I use 3000-6000 mg citruline Malate and about 800 mg pycogenol (or pine bark). Sometimes I've alternated with grape seed extract.  I think tongkat (cycled) and tribulus t helps a bit. I wonder how this will work with pentox when i add it this week.  Thanks again for your observations. Definitely helpful to the forum.

I have something to say about timing of when you take those supplements. My interest in taking them was to achieve erection at a specific time of day. For that I found that L-Arginine could work fairly quickly, especially if taken on an empty stomach. But then it could cause stomach upset, and I couldn't figure out why the results were inconsistent. Sometimes a low dose did great and sometimes a high dose didn't do much. Frustrating because I knew what it was capable of when it worked.

That was many years ago and I eventually dropped arginine until recently when I heard about pycnogenol. I had read that the purpose of taking pycnogenol was to make the arginine work better, but after some experimentation I discovered the arginine kicks in faster. So really ideally you could take pycnogenol about an hour before you do the arginine. But when the two work together... WOW. It's like the Fourth of July down there. Especially since I found a brand of arginine that doesn't upset my stomach and I need less of it due to the action of the pycnogenol. In the past I was following the recommendation to take 3, 4, 5, even 6 grams in one dose, and sometimes that's what it took for it to work. Now with pycnogenol I take 1g-2g tops. MOST IMPORTANTLY: PYCNOGENOL MAKES THE EFFECT OF ARGININE VERY CONSISTENT. Onto citrulline...

Citrulline produces arginine in the kidneys. To me this is superior in some ways. I feel it's generally better to support your own body's ability to heal itself, produce its own nutrients, etc, rather than introducing a foreign substance. So I guess the arginine you produce in your body is better than the arginine you take, but still, you're taking a foreign supplement in the form of citrulline. For me, the citrulline impact on my erection quality is less dramatic than taking arginine on an empty stomach, but it's slightly longer lasting.

Now about timing. I honestly don't know how much effect I would notice on eq if I took pycnogenol and citrulline once or twice a day and then wanted to get an erection 12 hours after the last dose. I definitely believe that taking those things consistently would have a general positive effect on eq. But I also observe, in myself at least, that the greatest positive effect comes 90-120 minutes after taking pycnogenol with the citrulline. I mean if you can time it, if you want to see a noticeable dramatic effect, go with that timing.

In the end, here's my usual technique: 90 minutes to two hours before I want to have a good erection, I take the pycnogenol and citrulline. Then about 20-30 minutes prior I take some arginine and a hint of yohimbe (few drops of tincture form; fast acting in that form and can control the dose). This way the pycnongenol can be processed in my body to work with the arginine that my body has produced (from the citrulline), as well with a little boost of arginine supplement, and the yohimbe is the spark plug that triggers them all. That way the effect of all those things are coming into effect at the same time.

Sir Bando
You are continue promoting sources, like a good salesman. If you will continue, you will be banned!!!

Final recipe:

90-120 minutes prior: XXX pycnogenol, 60mg; XXX L-citrulline, 2g
30 minutes prior: XXX L-arginine, 1g-2g; XXX Yohimbe tincture, 3-9 drops

This is the ideal arrangement but if I'm in a hurry I'll take it all together anywhere between 30-90 minutes prior. If it's much more time than that then skip the arginine cuz the benefit will be decreasing around two hours later, if I'm in a real hurry I'll skip the citrulline cuz I could be finishing up by the time it's kicking in.

Bottom line is I feel the pycnogenol greatly assists the NO action of arginine/citrulline. If timing is important, I've laid that out. But many may find great overall health benefits even if they're not trying to get an immediate, dramatic erection boost. Also you may not need both citrulline and arginine, just pick one of the two.

Sirbando,

Thanks for this info. Very interesting. I've noticed this stuff really works.  It's not like before my peyronies trauma accident, but gets me close. Sometimes I've noticed it even better than before! Only problem is it takes more to keep erection sustained since my symptoms. It won't point up as much, but glad it points forward!  But could be more a physical issue (maybe pelvic floor or venous leak). I do notice that if I go weeks without ejaculation or masturbation the eq is way way better. This makes sense though. I do like citruline and arginine. I've tried yohimbe too. My concern is if I sustain too strong an erection and for too long, the physical structure of my dick just can't handle it for as long as before the problems began.  I can last for hours tho, but harder to stay full mast that entire time (but most guys can't last 6 hours with some assistance--but I used to up until recently!). Can be frustrating but I'm grateful I have function.  Better than some without peyronies or problems.  It's all relative I guess!
