How do these devices work?

Surely the penis must be erect for the device to have ant useful effect ? Seems like you would have to have the device fitted then sit with it on for at least a couple of hours a day to have any benefit ? Am I missing something ? My peyronies cause about a 45 degree bend to the left with the plaque located about an inch up from the base. Thinking about some device to help correct but unsure how they work . Any help would be great. Thanks,

kuaka

Traction devices "stretch" the plaque.  They actually work better when not erect...at least I think so.

You cannot use a traction device when erect.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.

You wear it while flaccid. There are a number of videos on the internet that show how to put on and wear the device.

Hi all,

I am not happy with the device I have and am trying to figure out what the best device out there is. Can anyone please tell me if they've had good results from a specific device or heard of many people having good results from a specific device?

Thank you

ChrisCurve

Hi. Does this really work? Does it hurt?

Hello ChrisCurve,

Yes traction can work if done properly and if using a good device, some members here have made their own device and there are posts on it.
Moderator since 2015- Missouri- I work in the medical field and have strong knowledge of insurance and how to obtain coverage for medication and other treatments. Being a woman I do not have Peyronies but you can ask me anything. I am happy to help.

Like many things to do with this wretched disease, what works for one may not for another. In my own case, traction did very little or nothing to help. Others appear to have benefited from it - you can only try it and see.

Traction almost immediately alleviated my pain for the most part and eliminated the dents and bumps at my curve.  It has not had much effect on overall straightening, but I have been unable to continue Pentox/Cialis due to funds availability.  VED has the added benefit of not only stretching the plaque but also expanding the girth to more properly shape the Tunica to its original configuration...in my opinion.

Kuaka - How long do you use the device each day? I'm new to it and breaking in at one hour daily. I don't want to overdo it. But I saw Dr. Levine advocates 3 hours (with a break at the two hour mark.)

I was only able to tolerate it for an hour or so each day, with a break at the half hour mark.  I find just from the feel of things that the VED seems to be more focused on what my particular problem is.  Let your penis talk to you.  Don't overdo whatever approach you take.  If it hurts, you've done too much.  A small amount of "discomfort" is the threshold you are seeking, as it indicates that "something" is going on.

Thanks Kuaka. That makes me wonder if I overdid it last night, as I had pain today. It didn't hurt during the traction last night - felt fine then - but pain during the workday today. Thing is, I don't think I'm being too aggressive on the length. Have the X4 labs device, and I'm about 3.5" flaccid. I measured the length to where I stretched, and it was 4". So maybe an hour was just too much.

Dr. Levine is my doctor. I will see him in a few weeks for a followup. He will tell you to wear it a minimum of 4 hours and up to 8 hours per day if you can. Always take a break every 2 hours by removing the device. And don't over do it on the tension.

Thanks LWillis. I'm now thinking the pain may have been independent of the traction. I'm 3.5 weeks into Pentox, and the pain from the condition itself is easing (very thankfully) but was bad during the first 2 - 2.5 weeks after starting the Pentox. So I'm thinking now it was Peyronies pain - not post traction pain.

The fact that Pentox takes a while to work is not news - that has been noted repeatedly by others on this board. I did find this link that reiterates that data:

https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a685027.html

I think 4 hours per day is the best I'll be able to do. I work full time, and won't take my traction equipment to the office. Too distracting.

Excellent that you have Levine as your Doctor - I envy you that. If anyone can help you, he can. The initial urologist I consulted with here was not "up" on the latest developments with the condition (I seemed to know more than he from what I picked up on this board.) But I did find another who is supposedly more of a specialist with Peyronies. Seeing him later this week.

Levine did help me.

I consider myself Peyronies free at this point.
