I recently discovered I have Peyronies disease.  Around 2 months ago I noticed a bend in my penis when erect and a burning feeling.  The problem is still there and seems like it's getting worse.  I had intercourse last week and it was painful and the bend made it difficult.  I felt sore afterwards and my girlfriend did too.

I took pictures of my penis When erect and showed them to local urologist A.  He said I have Peyronie's disease.    He said the bend in my penis may get worse.  He prescribed Tentral.  He said the Trental might help prevent my condition from getting worse but he doubted I'd get better.   He said surgery was the only way that I'd likely get close to "normal" again but that I'd need to wait around a year for surgery as I was still in the acute phase.  I asked him about Xiaflex.  He said it was still a relatively new drug and he wasn't aware of any urologists in northern Colorado who had been trained for Xiaflex or had treated patients with it.

I went to the Xiaflex website and got a list of urologists in northern Colorado that they recommend.  I made an appointment with Urologist B who was on the Xiaflex website list.  He said he'd never used Xiaflex or been trained on it, but that he'd be willing to do the procedure.  I would be his first Xiaflex patient.  I have to admit this made me feel uncomfortable. I'd prefer to be treated by someone who had been trained for the Xiaflex procedure and who has successfully treated patients already.  Urologist B recommended that I try a traction device and sent me a link re: traction devices.

I called a 2 more urologist offices that were listed on the Xiaflex website and asked specifically if the doctors there had experience treating patients with Xiaflex.  Both offices said they did not.

My question is this: how important is it that your doctor be trained to use Xiaflex and have experience treating patients with Xiaflex?  Is this is a risky procedure or something a competent urologist is likely to "screw up" if they haven't done it before?  I am nervous about being a guinea pig.  Having said that, I'm also concerned about my Peyronies condition and want to do anything I can to try and get back to "normal" as much as possible.

Hello,

it is very important that they are trained in this, have a look at our list of urologist there is one in Lakewood and one in Denver give them a call and see if they do the Xiafelx injections https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,4063.0.html

Traction and VED are both good methods to use as well and should be done when you have curvature along with taking the Tentral, while it was good that urologist A gave you the Trentol there are several other meds that can and should be taken as well.

Cialis 5mg is used with the Tentral to help soften the plaque.
CoQ10 300mg
AcetyI-L Carnitine

Using one of the urologist on the list I provided will be a benefit as they specialize in Peyronies, you will want to get connected with one of them.

I understand you might be limited on doctors. I would want someone with experience before I would let anyone poke around in my penis with a needle.
