Almost 3 months in, what should I do?

Hi there everyone. I'm 24 and getting this disease has been a real bummer. Sometime at around the middle of April of 2015 I was under a lot of stress and was trying to force ejaculation while masturbating mostly flaccid. I had lost my erection and I forced my flaccid to straighten out to imitate an erection and some felt pain while doing it. Shortly after, my penis started to fall to the left and make nearly a 90 degree angle while mostly flaccid. For about a month of barely touching it, it would start staying completely left while flaccid. It had a natural slight curve to the left in the first place but that was natural. After that month I have begun hanging it to my right whenever possible, because I noticed that it has become really flexible and will bend in any direction so I constantly move it to the right and it has helped in making it not drop like an anchor to the right side.

Overall since then, I had been experiencing minor pains while flaccid at the left side of the base. The pain usually comes and goes a couple times a day for about 20-30 minutes at a time, but it doesn't interfere with getting erections as the pain doesn't really bother me, it's minor. When erect, it does not curve that much, maybe 20 degrees (rough estimate) or so and it looks natural other the slight deviation on the left side of the base. Before getting Peyronies it had a curve of about 5-10 degrees (rough estimate) so there's barely a visual difference. My erections are a bit weaker. I can maybe achieve 85-90% hardness if I'm fully aroused. My spontaneous erections and morning wood are essentially gone with morning wood sometimes achieving maybe 20-50% hardness. I can get aroused either by watching porn or passing by a hot chick after not masturbating for a couple of days. For nearly a month I have gone without masturbation. Normally I had trouble resisting a day or two do to spontaneous erections, but now I'm 26 days in and not really in much of a mood, plus I'm going on a 30 day challenge to see if there's any improvement, but so far no. I constantly move my penis to the right side to counteract the plaque on the left. I just ordered some coq10, l-arg and l-car and hope to see some form of results from that.

I'm in the NYC area and hope to see a specialist but have no insurance. I'm not currently working but am not sure if I can apply for free health insurance or how expensive a doctors visit will cost me. I have a little money to throw around so I was thinking of getting a traction, but will easily get both if it's recommended. I wouldn't mind taking pentox but I'm kind of concerned about taking something like viagra since it can be dangerous. I'm in the process of going on an anti-flammation diet and eating healthy to promote recovery, but what else should I do? Can you guys recommend a great quality VED or traction? Should I consider taking that PAV cocktail until I'm out of the acute stage? What would something like that cost? Thanks so much for the support. It's nice having a forum to rely on about this.

You're making assumptions. Yes, clearly something is not right, but it may not necessarily be peyronies. You do seriously need to see a competent urologist, get a diagnosis as to what the problem is, and then look at treatment. What assistance may be available to you, i can't advise on, as I'm not in the U.S. Hopefully, one of your compatriots will be able to help.

What you're currently taking won't harm you, unless you overdo it, but you need a diagnosis.

Hello Unknown5,

I can help with some of your issues, for starters you need to go through this Survival guide, Peyronies Survival Guide - Information for New Members - Peyronies Society Forums it has great information regarding Peyronies so if you haven't been here yet please go through and read the info, next as for you needing a Urologist Jonbinspain is correct, this is something you need to do to be sure of what you have, if it is Peyronies then you want to get started on the correct treatment and if not then you will want to know what the issue might be so that can be addressed.

We have a directory of specialist by state https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,4063.0.html so if you visit this page you will be able to see Urologists that are in or close to your area. Now since you are in NY I am sure that we have members that live there and may be able to suggest/refer you to specific ones but if they are on this list, they are very good in their field.

Now as for you not having insurance, You should go and see if you qualify for public aid, if you aren't working
Social Services | City of New York

Now you are pretty young, if you are a full time college student you should see if your college has a program for health coverage through them sometimes the cost is very low for their full time students.

Something else you can do, if you don't have insurance, when setting your appointment with the Urologist, tell them that you do not have insurance that you want to be a "Self Pay" patient. they will/should then charge you the Medicare rate (this is what they would be paid by Medicare if you had that as insurance) and then you can set up a payment plan with them. Now your first visit as a Consultation will be more expensive and you should plan to bring at least HALF of what ever the initial cost will be, if you can do that I am sure they will work with you. (this is Mammas area of work)

There is also a program that can help on medication costs called GoodRx it can be helpful if you don't have insurance to cover meds.
Savings on your Meds - Peyronies Society Forums (also Mammas area of work)

The forum is full of information all very good. The men here will be very happy to help you and answer your questions so please ask and listen to their advice. Fiirst and foremost find a urologist and set an appointment, the wait list can be long for them.

I recently added a list of Anti Inflammatory foods that was added to the forum, the guys seems to like it and you can find that here Anti Inflamitory Foods List - Peyronies Society Forums

Okay, I hope this info helps any questions please ask you can Private Msg or email me anytime.

The guys here call me Mamma (I think mostly cause I badger them like a mother would  ;D )
Have a good day.

Thank you folks. I will contact the local specialist and pay cash if I must. I'll also try to get an insurance plan asap.

UPDATE on my status. I haven't been to a doctor yet but there has been a change. After 31 days and 31 nights withholding from stimulation, as I was going to end the run, while having an erection I felt a pain in the slight bend I had gotten and I immediately felt a stinging pain for about 5-10 seconds. After that my erections were essentially back at about 95% strong, however, I noticed a further 10 degree or so bend right after. Now my erections are basically back to match my libido, but now I'm at about a 25-30 degree bend as opposed to a 15 degree bend (all rough estimates).

The past few days before this new snap, I had increasing and more frequent pain in the bend area of my penis. I now feel as if increasing pains may lead to a new snap and further bending. I also experienced minor headaches but that could have been my body adjusting to the newly taken coq10, l-arg and l-car if that makes sense. For now the pains are barely noticable but as I masturbate once each day I feel like the bending may be getting worse and worse (4 days so far). I get my erections nearly as plentiful as before the 3 months passing, but now I fear of further bending. My spontaneous erections are partially back as well

I'm going to schedule an appointment with the nearest Peyronies specialist by calling up on Monday while waiting to get insurance. I'm also going to order a traction to help stop the bending by dedicating a few hours each day for 4-5 days a week. Are these things relatively safe? And how much does a premium one go for?

Thanks again!

You're clearly in the active phase, and the pain on gaining an erection is all part of that. You need to act now. Don't wait, get to a competent - and I stress the word competent - urologist. You need to start treating this now, don't be fobbed off with 'wait and see' and Vit.E.

Traction and/or VED will help with the curvature. Read all you can on this site before your appointment. You want to be armed with as much info as possible. Get a prescription for Pentox, if you can. It will help with the pain and slow up the calcification process. Well regarded supplements you can read about here, on the site. Most all of them are OTC.

In addition to the Pentox, ask for low dose Cialis as together with the Pentox are working better on softening the plaque than just Pentox alone.

Just found out my local specialist costs $880 a consultation and doesn't accept insurance or something along those lines. Now I feel better since the last update and haven't experienced any further pain or bending as much as far as I'm aware. Do you guys really think that the pentox and low dose viagra/cialis really makes a difference? Would it be worth it going to see this specialist for only one visit? I think I could really only pay for a trip or two. Would the medication for a visit only last a month? What do you guys think?

Thank you so much!

look for another "specialist".  My GP had no issue writing me the scrips needed...but I have a good working relationship with him.

Can you tell us who is the "Specialist" charging $880 for consultation?
Sounds extremely expensive.

Dr Werner - NYC. He is listed on the specialists thread as the first specialists under New York state. I contacted the number on the website's homepage and spoke to a receptionist. The self pay option lets you pay the full price in two or three increments. If all else fails I suppose I could just find somewhere to get the pentox since it's relatively cheap and seems to be the more important one. All the symptoms I've experienced fit Peyronies and there's clearly a difference with the slight bend. It's barely troublesome, I just don't want it to worsen or go through another snap.

Thank you for the answer unknown. Added the information ($880) to our doctors list.
This what we have about him:
QuoteSexual Dysfunction & Male Infertility Specialist in New York.
He really emphasized that we would develop a treatment regime together, rather than him just dictating. Couldn't have asked for a better consultation.
He prescribed Pentox, Cialis, and the VED straight up....
He was involved in the Xiaflex trial but said that he would recommend waiting to see how things progress before trying something really invasive.
