Diagnosedyesterday

Hi, I am 35 and was diagnosed last week. Any tips/hints would be appreciated. Am about 4 months in and painful when erect mostly but also when soft. Has started to bend slightly up the way. Urologist said nothing can be done at this stage as may settle or run its course. Recommended vitamin e tablets. Does this help?

Well you got the standard textbook answer that most of us received that is absolutely not true. "Wait and see" is the worse thing you can do. And there are therapies to try to keep things from getting worse. Read the following for some basic background information.

If you are able to go to another urologist, do. Any Uro who recommends Vitamin E at this point is pretty much showing he's either ill-informed or disinterested in Peyronie's, because he's clearly not keeping up.  I'm not even saying he should have recommended something else specifically (since some don't believe in Pentox), but it's simply a waste of time and money to have someone use Vitamin E in hopes of doing anything for their Peyronie's.

Have been to see another urologist today. Basically I am to see how everything is in 6 months time and go back if worse. It is getting worse by the day so pretty sure I will be back before the end of the year!

Make sure you are visiting urologist that specialize in Peyronies,, one that does not is not going to be able to diagnose or treat you properly. there is a difference in a doctor that specializes in Peyronies and one that does not. I am willing to bet that neither of yours specialized or they would not have said "wait and see"

At this point you cant wait, to need to start treatment now so that you are ahead of the game, if you are only 4 months in you are really in a good position to get ahold of this and keep the progression from taking over your life. you have to do your research, make sure you are choosing who can/will best treat you.

Any Uro who says "wait and see" is not a Peyronie's specialist.  This disease is NOT something you want to allow to progress to a "stable" state before starting treatment.  Just my opinion on the matter.

Dead is stable.

Listen to what you've been advised, especially by Nemo. Vit E is treatment from the dark ages and will do absolutley zero to combat Peyronie's. Find another Urologist, one who knows what he's doing. There is a list on the site, check there for your nearest one.

I'm almost in the same boat, I'm 37, Scottish, about 5 months into this and diagnosed a month ago. My urologist immediately prescribed pentox and told me to come back in 3 months so he could assess the progress. If it gets worse he has mentioned traction.

This forum has been a great help and the advice has worked. I had developed a curve of approx 20-25% to the left and last month noticed the start of an upward hinge. A month later the left curve is approx 10% and the upward hinge has started to fill out.

This is what I've been taking 3 times a day for the last month:-
Pentox 400mg
Ubiquinol 100mg
Acetyl L-Carnitine 500mg
L-Arginine 500mg
Vitamin E (may as well)

I've also been doing VED for 15 minutes every night for the past 3 weeks. I don't want to do traction.

It's difficult to say what has helped the most but I do feel that the VED has made a difference and I would definitely recommend it as well as all of the above oral suppliments. All pain has gone too.

Basscom;

Perhaps you could send a P.M. to your Scottish compatriot with the name and address of your Urologist?  He, at least, seems to know what he's doing.

If he's a good urologist, perhaps he needs to be added to the list here.
