Not sure if this is the right forum, BUT:
With injections: Verapmil OR Xiaflex, what actually happens, other than the desired result of less curvature and more sexual satisfaction?[yeh, yeh, I know, who cares..]
Does the plaque:
A.  'shatter', or disperse,  like a dropped porcelain tea cup:
B.  Break in two like an uncooked strand of spaghetti:
C.  become significantly more  malleable, like a goose neck lamp; or
D. Other
'splain, if you can.  Thanx

As far as Xiaflex is concerned foreveryoung the correct answer is C.

It softens the plaque.

james1947

In my opinion A and B are also right answers.
The VED, Pentox and low dose Cialis softened my plaques, eliminated 3 hourglasses, but didn't correct bend and curve.
Xiaflex it does correct curve & bend.

For the Verapamil I think the combination of stabbing through the plaque while releasing the medication is suppose to soften or break up the plaque.  They call it the swiss cheese effect.  In my case, I call it torture and a complete waste of time. I guess is has worked with some people but in my case made it worse.

With Xiaflex it's suppose to soften the plaque, which is followed by in office modeling of the penis by the doctor and then at home therapy by the patient. Contrary to what's been reported in the trials and on this board, one round of Xiaflex has given me back some lost girth, almost completely on one side. Hopefully the next round will take care of the other side and eliminate the hourglass altogether.  My curve hasn't improved as much as I'd like, only about 5-10 degrees from about 50 degrees. My 2nd round is in about two weeks.

Those are pretty good results though hope4all.

5-10 degrees off 50 degrees after only one cycle is very good, not dramatic but very good. That's a 10% improvement! Don't have high expectations and you won't be disappointed.

The restoration of girth on one side is excellent news.

How long have you had Peyronies?

hope4all

Thanks Ive. Yeah I'm trying to temper my expectations but when I saw the almost immediate return of girth on the left side I was over the moon and hoped the straightening would follow shortly behind. I'm not too discouraged, I'm very thankful.

Peyronies, my unwelcome guest, arrived in Feb-Mar 2009. It stabilized within the year, with the plaque harder on some days than others, but clearly there along with a nodule acquired during Verapamil shots. I will remind my doctor of this nodule in subsequent shots.  I think that is where the bend takes place and where my hinging problem lies.

James,
I have no intention of making unnecessary work for the moderator.  I had  Peyronies Disease tx question so I asked on the Peyronies Disease forum. Is there another link/drop down menu/radio button, etc I should select?
Sorry but I'm confused.

Head Up

I asked my URO about xiaflex the other day. Two questions:

1) What happens to the plaque after injection? His answer was that it will become maleable and give the tunica a better chance to straighten out during erections (or something along those lines).

2) What happens to the plaque afterwards? Does it stay soft or will it solidify again? He didn't really have an answer for me. He said that sometimes patients with Dupuytren's contracture have needed follow up shots to make the plaque in their hands softer again.

Personally, I think the second question is much more important. And his not having a straight answer or leaning towards the notion that Xiaflex would/could be a temporary fix was not very reassuring. When I go see Levine next I will ask him the same question (#2). The URO I saw the other day had no experience administering any Xiaflex injections, only Verapamil.

James
I must have missed the tutorial on this.  Nevertheless there were responses to my post which suggests it wasn't as irrelevant as you are implying.  I didn't post about 'immigration' or the' Oscars' or other items that are not relevant.  To me, my post  was relevant.
I'm Just looking for some support from fellow Peyronies Disease sufferers.  That's all.  I'm sorry that you have an issue with that.

Just to put things correct:
Check the posts you got, ALL are after the split.
Also what is on topic and what not, it is my decision.
